Aided by an Angel
Chapter Twenty ; PART I
Amber's POV:
-September-
"Come on
guys! It's gonna start soon!" I rushed around my living
room to take my seat on the sofa. I wrapped my arm around my son
and gave him a kiss on the head. These passed three months he has
missed Miracle so much. I know he wanted to go out to see her
tonight live, but I didn't want to make Miracle any more
nervous than she already was. I was giving her her space.
"You excited, kid?"
"Of course! She's gonna kill it!" I
ran my fingers through his thick, blonde hair; he needs a hair
cut soon. He was sitting to my right while Liam to my left and
Bri sat in the recliner by the television. Eleanor was hosting he
rown mini party in my kitchen with Louis, and Harry.
"Where's Dad?"
"He headed off to bed," Liam answered.
"He said he wasn't feeling great." Of all nights
for him to do this, he does this tonight? I wasn't a fool. He
wasn't sick.
"Oh, too bad. Let's record it for
him!" Aaron leaned forward and grabbed the remote. He was
such a good kid. I guess I didn't do that bad of a job
raising him. I had good kids. I was a proud mother. The X Factor
theme song started to blast through our speakers and my heart
fell to my stomach. "She's on!"
"Guys, come out here! They're on!" I
screeched to the boys and El in the kitchen. None of them came
out; they said they'd be out when they sang and at the end.
Losers. I watched my beautiful Miracle skip out on stage in a
black dip hem skirt and a cheetah print crop top. Her gorgeous
face was fully exposed; her hair was pulled up and back in a sock
bun. She stumbled back to the back area to grab Parker by the
hand.
"What in the world is she wearing?"
Liam's eyes widened at his little girl who was now a full
grown woman. I guess he hasn't gotten over that yet.
"Oh, would you stop. She looks
stunning."
"I know, that's the problem." My eyes
rolled. He was so silly. Parker looked very handsome tonight. He
and Miracle were so close and I always wondered why they
weren't together. Don't get me wrong, I love Zac, but
Parker seemed more fit for Miracle than anyone else. Maybe
someday they will be together. How cute would that be?
She sang a final song, just like the other remaining
contestants. Parker, like he did every week, played guitar for
her and sang some back up vocals. Miracle's voice was so
strong like Liam's, but I'm not giving Parker the short
end of the stick. If he would just try, he would be just as good
as Mir is. They'd be perfect and nothing could stop them.
"And now," The host, Eliza Phan, spoke
into a microphone. "It is time to find out who is the winner
of this year's X Factor competition." She wrapped her
arm around Miracle, who was still gripping Parker's hand with
no signs of letting go. Eliza's lips left a short kiss on
Mir's forehead. She then turned to the other remaining
contestant, Jonathan Rezi, to give him a kiss as well.
I grabbed Aaron and Liam's hand and squeezed
them as hard as I could. "Ow," They echoed one after
the other.
"Sorry, I'm just nervous." Eliza
introduced Mir and Parker as Lilli and Evan; I still couldn't
get used to that. It was very smart of them to do, but I
couldn't get over it. The heartbeat sounded, or was that
mine? I couldn't tell at this point. Whatever happened, I was
proud of both of them. But it would be really swell if they won,
though.
"And the winner is," Thump. Thump. Thump.
"Jonathan Rezi!" I saw Miracle's face fall a
little; I knew she was disappointed that she didn't win. I
knew she was grateful though. You could see it in her eyes.
Second place was good enough and we were all proud of her.
They talked to the winner for a little bit and then
came to chat with Miracle and Parker. I had texted Miracle as
soon as the news was released. It was a live show so I know she
had gotten it already; I had seen her glace at her side where her
cell phone was wedged between her skin and her skirt.
"So, Lilli," Eliza reached down to clutch
her hand. "I'm sorry you didn't win. You were really
fantastic, so don't give up on your singing dream, okay,
Love?" Mir nodded as silent tears started to drift from her
eyes. "Do you have anybody at home watching?"
