Summer
Chapter
1
"Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts.
Your flight will be landing shortly. Once again, thank you for
choosing Delta Airlines."
I did as I was told and buckled my seat belt and took out my
earbuds.
I looked out the window of the plane and I could see
land.
I was anxious to get off the plane. After all, it was nearly a 14
hour flight.
The plane had a shaky landing, but we made it. I grabbed my
carry-on and walked off the large plane and into the airport. I
made my way to the baggage claim area and waited for the luggage
from the plane I was just on to come out on the conveyor. I
turned on my iPhone and checked my mesages.
Ella had texted me a few times during the flight, but I kept my
phone off then.
She told me she would be picking me up, and I looked around for
her.
I couldn't find her, but I did find my luggage. I grabbed my
plain blue suitcase with the American flag on it and started
rolling it towards the exit.
When I reached the exit, I saw a blonde with sunglasses on
struggling to carry three drinks while talking on her cell phone.
I opened the door for her.
"Sophia!" she said, her face breaking into a smile.
"Ella? You look so different!" I said, giving my older
sister a hug.
"I wasn't sure how much longer your flight would be so I
went to get coffees for Tyler and me. Luckily I ordered you one
too!" she said, handing me the cup.
Tyler is Ella's fiancee. They're planning on getting
married this summer, but it's just a thought. I've met
him a few times before and he's really nice.
"Okay, so let's get you back to the house!" she
said, walking back through the parking garage to where her car
was parked. She called Tyler and told him we were at the car, and
he came out a few minutes later.
When we finally reached our summer home, I smiled to
myself.
I had so many memories here. This is my getaway. My second
life.
I have friends here that I've known forever. I only see them
in the summer, but that doesn't change things. We always have
a good time together.
I kept glancing over towards the neighbors house to see if anyone
was there.
Maybe his family wasn't coming this summer. I
wouldn't be suprised if I never saw him again. Especially
after what happened last summer.
I grabbed my suitcase and walked down the hall to my room, which
looked exactly the same as the way I left it the summer
before.
I fished through my carry-on to find my ray bans and slid them
over my eyes before walking into the living room and telling Ella
that I was going for a walk.
"Okay, have fun. Be back by seven, that's when we
eat." she said.
I sent a text to my friend Shay, telling her I was in England
now.
I just wandered around the neighborhood, waving to the elderly
people I had come to recognize that were sitting on their front
porch.
I guess I wasn't suprised that none of my friends were out
here yet, because they're probably still finishing up school.
I got out early, and couldn't wait any longer to come to my
home away from home.
When I was walking back into my driveway, I saw him.
But he wasn't with his family. Instead, he was with four
other guys.
I didn't know whether to say hi, or to just walk into my
house.
i finally decided that he's been my friend for nearly 16
years, so I had to say hi.
I was planning on acting calm, but I couldn't contain
myself.
I ran over and when he turned around and saw me coming, I jumped
up and wrapped my legs around him, hugging him tight.

please help me spread the word that I'm

I wish I could favorite this a million times. I feel like this when I get to see my friends when I get a break from work.
