bucketlist
/chapter
three/
I sat at the
foot of my bed as Gia picked out some of my new clothes to wear
tonight.
Tonight is the kick-off-to-summer beach party that's
apparently 'mandatory' for me to go to or
something.
She basically treated me like her little doll as she dressed me
and pinned a bow in my hair.
I had to wear a belt because my clothes are still a little big
because of how small I am.
"Perf," she dabbed a little gloss onto her lips and
fluffed her hair as I fumbled to put wedges on.
"Hey girls?" Palmer screamed up the stairs.
"Yeah?" Gia shouted back.
"Could you run these cookies over to the house next door?
We have new neighbors!"
"Can you do it, I still have a few things left to
do?" Gia said sweetly.
"Sure, no problem," I said just before I trotted down
the stairs and recieved the tupperware full of sugar
cookies.
I rang the doorbell, only to find the boy I saw earlier on my
way to get the groceries.
His white-blonde surfer-like hair and soft brown eyes
mesmerized me.
We made brief eye contact before his mother glided next to
him.
"Preston, who is this?" She asked smiling at me.
"I dunno," he mumbled.
"I'm Denni Rivers. These cookies are a welcome present
from my godmother, Palmer. She lives in the house just over
there," I said motioning to the castle of a house.
"What a lovely woman, I'd love to meet her!" She
exclaimed.
"Hun, you look awful dressed up and beautiful, would it be
out of place for me to ask where you're going?" She
asked looking me up and down.
"Uh, this beach party thing, I dunno, my friend is making
me go with her. I just moved here today."
"Oh, how wonderful. Preston you should go!"
He mumbled something I didn't understand, and his mother
rolled her eyes at him.
"Oh! I forgot to introduce myself! I'm Karen, Karen
White." She extended her hand out to shake my hand, and I
smiled back at her.
"Well, I should get going, I think I'm leaving soon.
Nice to meet you both," I smiled politely as I walked back
towards my new house.
Even on the way to the beach party, I couldn't get Preston
out of my head.
I kept picturing him standing in front of me, he's
gorgeous.
Soon I was snapped out of my fantasy as Gia tapped my arm and
motioned at the beach entrance.
There was all sorts of music blasting that you would only hear
on the radio, stuff that I don't listen to.
There were clusters of teens scattered on the humungous
beach.
The only thing I was unaware of, was how insane this party was
about to get...
