Walking toward the
shoreline,
I breathe in heavily,
Start to jog,
I can't wait,
My feet touch the pier,
I take off sprinting,
I reach the end,
Suddenly I stop,
I take a look around,
I see no one,
No sign of savior,
No sign of hope,
I close my eyes tightly,
And step off the edge,
Cold all around,
A stinging in my lungs,
A gasp for breath,
All I get is water,
My mind goes black,
I'm gone.

I really like this poem, it's quite a good description of the feeling I get, just before I get back to shore. Every time I think I'm not gonna make it, that I went too far, and that poem is exactly how I feel, what I think. thank you, for describing what I could not explain.

Thank you, and yeah i do it too, except in my pool, i sit at the bottom and lose breath and lose light, and then when i go up its like coughing out the pain and such, so i get you!! and no problem, its what i feel too lol

I actually do that on a regular basis when I'm upset. I don't drown, as I'm still alive, but I jump off a bridge instead of burning myself, feel the cold, suck water into my lungs, half drown and crawl back to land. When I cough up all the water, it's as if my pain comes with it.
