And its really bothering me how some people are commenting things like death cab. these are people known all around the world, everyone knows at least who they are, and they brought something more to an element of music. mj brought a whole new era. beatles brought a new era as well. all of the ones you listed and the ones i did as well brought something new, not copied and changed a little. they started a trend of music. dkhsaofh JUST LETTING OFF SOME STEAM.

I honestly cannot stop laughing at anyone who hated on me for this.
I wasn't judging anyone for liking the artists I mentioned. I happen to be a really big Katy Perry fan myself, but I wouldn't call her a musical genius.

Amen.! I like music more by Train, 3OH3, boys like girls, mayday parade and all that, so they aren't 'musical genuises'. But what you said is true. But some people just like different kind of music.

If people like those bands, then who are you to judge them on that ?
I listen to some of the people/bands you listed, and I agree, they have more talent than a lot of the popular people. But those popular people didn't fall into number one, they're there because they've been working their butts off.

Haha that's what i'm saying! It actually grinds my gears a lot!! I hate how Nicki Minaj is even famous, She sounds like an idiot when she sings in my opinion. I also hate how nobody even knows who these people are. Everybody in my school acts like they've never heard of Fall out Boy or Panic! at the Disco. And most of the people who have, I told them about them. haha You're still my FOB spouse, right?

& This is totally opinionated. I don't really like any of the people you are bashing, but that doesn't mean they couldn't be "musical geniuses" later on in life. It's not fair to say they aren't good, just because you don't like them.

I never knew people thought the same thing I did, people nowadays wouldnt know real music if it was playing in their faces, I mean whats up with people and rap songs, it is not real music!!! And to name some more, real musicians are also Bob Marley and Cat Stevens (If you don't know who he is, look up the song peace train, its awesome)

THANK THE LORD UGH. i mean i absolutely love bands like blink and green day, but musical geniuses? no. change the way people perceive music? not exactly. i still worship them but they're not musical geniuses.
led zeppelin and the rolling stones should be on that list, as well as the pistols cause they were basically the pioneers of the *GOOD* rock era

I totally agree with this. I would also include bands like Dashboard Confesssional and Death Cab For Cutie. People who challenge music in some way are the people who should be considered musical genuises.
