Testing Fate

Prologue

I smiled and sat down on the beach.
The sand in my toes and Mike's hand in mine.
I looked up at him and smiled like he was the only person in my life.
He leaned towards me and kissed me.
"Belle," he said to me, "You are the only one for me."
I smiled at him. "I'm going to miss you while you're at college."
I looked down in the sand so he couldn't see me cry.
He tilted my chin up and kissed me. "Don't cry. My heart will stay with you."
He whispered it in a low, loving tone.
I smiled, "You're taking mine with you."
He smiled and looked at his phone. "It's getting late."
I looked down, "I know. My mom is gonna be worried."
He smiled at me then frowned, "I can't believe I'm leaving tonight."
I felt myself choke up on my tears, "I know," I said in a barely, legible voice.
He frowned at me, "I'm gonna see you in two weekends. And every weekend after that." He brushed the hair back across my shoulders.
"I know but still. We've spent every day this summer together. And most nights. My bed will be so lonely."
He smiled at me, "Two weeks. I'm going to facetime you every night and text you at every moment." He stood up and held his hand out. "Let's go babe. It's almost midnight. You have school tomorrow and my flight leaves in a few hours."
I stood up and held his hand as we walked across the beach together, one last time.
We drove in loving silence.
He walked me to the door and kissed me once gently, then another time, passionently and harder. He pulled away and leaned his head on mine.
"I love you Belle." He whispered.
My eyes opened in amazment as he told me he loved me for the first time.

"And I love you Mike." I whispered at him.

I've been waiting for this story FOREVER.
