The Summer When Everything
Changed
One
“Damn it Jack! Just get away from me.” I screamed at
the perfect blond boy standing in front of me. Tears were
streaming down my face because of the pain it caused me to say
this. “I don’t want to play your games
anymore!”
“Susan, I love you though. I really messed up this time and
I really know that.” He let a strand of that perfect blond
hair fall in front of his perfect blue eyes. “Please
don’t leave me.”
“I’m sure you said that to your other girlfriend too!
Damn it, why? Why did you do this to me?” I stared straight
in his eyes but he remained silent. “Right then. I guess
that’s that? It’s all over?”
I stormed out the door of the Olive Garden that we were having
dinner at and sat down on one of the fancy benches in the front.
Jack didn’t follow me out, but I wasn’t offended, he
knew I needed space. But this time, I didn’t think I could
forgive him.
“Were you his girlfriend or something? Please tell me you
weren’t.” I was alarmed by the voice coming next to
me. The girl with the shiny black hair and thin frame was sitting
next to me on the bench.
I nodded weakly, “And I suppose you were too?” I felt
sick to my stomach. When this girl had seen Jack, she came over
and kissed him on the lips. I had sat there petrified, when she
saw my terrified look, she screamed. Please tell me you
didn’t! When he didn’t answer she stormed out of
the restaurant.
“Well, I was.” She looked how I felt, “I guess
now…”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know he was dating you,
I’m Susan.” I leaned over and stuck my hand out.
She just stared at it for a moment before taking it and saying,
“I’m Fiona.”
