The things I wish I knew before my
15th birthday:
1: Ask every person you meet how their day is going.
Genuinely ask them as you want to know. Your
friend, that lonely person in the hallways, the
cafeteria lady. Ask everyone.
2.If the person makes you feel like sh/t and you
still go back to them, it's an abusive relationship.
3. Everything sems worse in the morning. Don't
fall for it, it's deceiving.
4. Always be friends with the broken people.
They know how to survive.
5. Eat the cupcake, you have better things
to worry about than those 300 calories.
6. Lay on the floor of your shower until you can
breathe again. Water will always love to love your
skin.
7. You can be a caring person, but you need to be happy
with yourself before you try to make others happy.
8. If you're still checking their Facebook/Instagram/
Twitter/Tumblr, you're never going to get over them.
9. Opening your skin will not set your demons free.
Open your heart. Open your mind. Open your hands.
10. Smile often. Smile at strangers. Smile at your friends.
Smile when nobody is looking. Smile when somebody
is rambling to you.
11. You can't fix people no matter how hard you try.
Get this engraved in your mind.
12. Don't respond to a group of males whistling at you.
You're a human being, not a dog.
13. People come and go. Some are cigarette breaks, others
are forest fires.
14. The moment you feel your happiness being dictated by
another person, take a break from them.
15. You are stronger than you realize.
16. Laugh until you cry, and when the girl sitting next
to you in class tells you to shut up, laugh even louder.
17. No one hates you more than you hate yourself.
Stop being your own enemy.
18. Make sure you have a safe place. Whether it's the
kitchen floor, your balcany or a corner coffee shop, just
make sure you have a safe place.
19. A lot of people don't like their things showing. More
people than you know are going through hard times.
20. You will be scared of all kinds of things, of spiders
and clowns and eating alone, but your biggest fear will
be that people will see you the way you see yourself.
21. Remember, that sometimes, getting out of bed is enough.
