My World
If I were to live in a world
it would be nothing but peace
family and friendship
you would have wings that sprouted from your back
like extra muscles
they would sparkle and glow
showing your inner self, almost angelic
and... you could fly
everyone could use their wings
you would glide across the sky
the wind blowing all around you
completely free
I want a world
that excites the blood in my veins
no bills
no taxes
no driving, just flying
sure, we'd have events
like fishing and boating
sales on simple clothes
that nobody needed to stress
about how they look
we'd all be friends
there would be no enemies inside my world
no parents to give us the backhand
because there is nothing you can do to deserve it
sure, we'd have teachers
but learning would be fun
we'd learn about our wings
how to make them fly
how to make them sprout up
up to the sky
but of course,
this is only inside my head
nobody can be completely free
on Earth
here, everyone is worried about the future
they're worried about how they look
their bills
their taxes
their homework
their car
they're worried about their job
their career
their pets
their love
worrying about their beliefs
war
our weight
not having a sharpened pencil
not prepared for class
it's all these things
that weigh us down
that keep our wings from sprouting
and heading to the clouds
if we just drop it all
and stomp it on the ground
dump the weight of the world off your shoulders
and I'm sure
you'll gain the power to fly
