one foot in
one foot out
there's a monster under your bed
waiting, just waiting
so it can run it's long slim fingers around your ankle
and yank you down to it's lair
you tell yourself, this is silly
and desperately try to let your skin taste the cool air
but you just can't
the monsters are too scary
so you quickly jolt your foot back into the safety of the blanket
but one day
you'll come to a point in your life
where the monster under the bed
isn't as scary as the ones that walk among us
and you've already been pulled into their lairs
multiple times
when you come to that point
and go to bed every night
you put one foot in
and one foot out
and you don't care if the monster gets you anymore
