My heart went crazy. He gave me that look – the one I missed so much. Then he flashed me that smile that I was longing to see since the moment he let me go. The smile that made me fall in love with him even more than I already was. It made me smile without even thinking. Even though all of those troubles were eating away at me and I haven’t felt happiness in so long… I was smiling. A genuine smile, not those fake ones I showed to my friends and family all the time. I tried, a countless amount of times, to tell myself that he wasn’t good enough for me and that he didn’t deserve me. The truth is, I always have loved him. Knowing that he loved me and lost interest so quickly crushed my heart, not to mention my self esteem… But there he was – standing in front of me. He hasn’t confronted me in weeks since the breakup. What was he standing there for? I told myself not to get my hopes up for anything because he tends to disappoint me more than I could ever imagine. But what he did next changed my life, my future… he reached his arm towards me and took my hand. The hand I missed so much. I stood there, dumbfounded for a bit… and I looked up at him straight into his eyes. He whispered, “I love you. I always have and I always will, no matter how much I tell myself I don’t. I can’t avoid you. I can’t stop thinking about you. I love our conversations and it kills me when they end so randomly. I can’t believe I met you and it amazes me how lucky I am that you really did love me back. I can’t go on without you… will you give me another chance?” That’s when I broke down. I cried. I thought he was gone. I wrapped my arms around him and held my face to his shoulder, the spot I missed so much. I then whispered,
“Of course. I love you.”
