high school is like a little bubble. the "real world" aka life after high school when you actually have to fend for YOURSELF is entirely different. & theres a difference between trying to scare people, and actually trying to warn them that just cuz you coast thru highschool, it doesn't mean the rest of your life will be so easy, when people aren't holding your hand the whole way.

^ this is truth. College is not "the real world" either. No one is going to baby you all the time in the real world like they do in high school. I have friends graduating college who are terrified that they have to be real people now.

I think what people are really trying to say is, "prepare for the monotony of adult life". This includes doing the same things in the same order for years at a time: getting up at the same time every day, driving the same commute, sitting at the same cubicle, doing the same work with the same people, paying the same bills, going to the same grocery store on the same day of the week to buy the same things, etc. Most of adult life is pretty boring and that can be soul crushing. The good news is it's your life and you can do whatever you want with it.
