I wonder how people can be so blind to the ones that are hurting. The ones with the dead eyes and broken smiles. The ones with scars from all the beatings. The ones that want to leave and fade away with their names. Then I realize that we are better than the best actors. We can fake a sparkle in our eyes like never before. We can paint on a smile to make people leave us alone. We can cover the scars while around others. Never does our guard slip and character falter until we are truly alone and by ourselves. That's when the demons break the bars holding them back. That's when all the walls fall. Our best defenses can't hold them back, for they come from the inside.
