Ellie Loves Zayn

Chapter 1:

"Ellie hurry up, we're going to miss our flight!" I shrugged into my ratty, old, grey sweatpants and pulled on a bright red American Eagle hoodie. My long hair still wet and wrapped up in a towel from my shower, which I have to say was rushed. I hurridly pulled the tangly mess into a messy bun, grabbed my duffel bag and raced down the carpeted stairs. "It's about time. I've been waiting on you for almost ten minutes, I'm surprised the transportation guy hasn't left yet." I rolled my eyes at my mothers comment and ripped open the front door.
We were on our way to Great Britain, not on vacation, but soon to be living there. I (my mother also) have no idea what anything looks like (despite pictures of Big Ben), where anything is located, and how to get to Bradford. The only thing I know, is that we're traveling hundreds, maybe even thousands of miles from a small town in Tennessee, USA, to some forgien place called Bradford, England. Wish us luck.
I rushed out into the chilly morning air. It is exactly 5:43 in the morning, but the sun is already peeping through the grey clouds, probably hoping to spread a little light on this otherwise gloomy day. The transportation service is waiting to take me, my mother, and a very agitated cat to the airport, since our car had been loaded onto the plane already. My father is waiting for us across the ocean, hopefully unpacing all the bags and boxes we've already shipped to him.

I lugged my bag out of the taxi and began my journey towards the tall, red-brick apartment building before me. The building is some ten stories high but made differently from any apartment building I've ever been in. Each floor was like one house, is this what a flat is? I asked myself. The windows were shiny and looked like they had just been washed until they were squeaky clean, there is no litter in sight, and a janitor is sweeping leaves off the entrance. Clean place. Good. The door is one of those big thick wooden doors, I'm pretty sure it's oak, considering its dark and tough. I shoved the door open and heaved the heavy bag over the thresh-hold behind me. It's nearly eleven thirty in the morning, but everyone in the building seem as if they had just gotten out of bed. Some peoples hair is still in nightcaps, others are wearing fuzzy slippers, while a few are lounging around sipping their morning coffee right here in the lobby.
These people all seem like family. They're so friendly and kind, I've gotten three head nods and a hello before I even made it to the front desk. A mousy brunette in a pinstriped blazer sits behind the tall counter, typing vigorously on her keyboard, paying no mind to any of the chatter surrounding her. "May I help you?" The mousy brunette suddenly spoke and I jumped. "Oh um, yes. Hi, I'm Ellie Mayes and I was wondering if I could please have an extra room key for my apartment- I mean flat- my father has one, but he is prone to losing things." I ramble, twirling a strand of wavy hair around my finger. "Of course, which floor are you on?" Mousy said giving a sudden smile. "It's the very top." Turns out the receptionist's name is Rebecca, but everyone calls her Becca. We continued chatting for a while until my mother burst through the heavy wooden doors, threw her suitcase down on the floor, and pulled up the tanktop under her shirt. "Did you get the key, El?" She asked me, giving her dazzling smile. I nodded yes and made my way towards the elevator, after saying goodbye to Becca.
