I Love to Hate You
Chapter 9
I ran to my room and slammed the door shut behind me. I was sobbing now, and  didn't really know why. I guess my feelings of hatred towards Liam have been building up inside for all these years. It felt good to finally let him know how I feel. I heard a knock on my door, but chose to ignore it. 
"Carly, please. Let me in." Zayn said. 
"I'm changing right now. Can it wait?" I asked, trying to sound cheery. 
"Actually, no. I'm coming in." he said, breaking the lock and opening the door. 
"You're not changing." he stated. 
"And you're not listening to me. I'm fine, really." I said, even though he could probably see the mascara streaking down my face. 
"Did that really happen?" he asked, concerned. 
"Zayn, it was a long time ago. Really. I'm over it." I said, shrugging it off like it was no big deal. But it was. 
"I don't think you are." he said.
"So what if I'm not?" I asked softly. 
"Come here." he said, opening his arms and wrapping me in a tight hug. 
"It's going to be alright. Trust me." he said, stroking my hair. 
"Why should I trust you? You're his best friend." I said, still crying softly. 
"Because I'm your roomie. And roomies have to be honest with each other." he said, making me smile. I looked up at him and he smiled at me, then I buried my face in his chest. It felt so good to finally have a friend on my side. 
"Come on, we've got a house party to get back to!" he said
"I think I'm just gonna stay in here. I have a lot of work to do." I told him, closing the door after he walked away. I walked over and sat on my bed, pulling my laptop out. I checked a few emails, then got tired. I fell back onto my pillows and went to sleep. 
"Carly. Carly, wake up." Zayn was calling my name. I opened my eyes and saw that it was 2:30 in the morning. What could he possibly want? 
"What? I'm tired." I groaned. 
"Just checking to make sure you're okay." he said, patting my head. 
"I'm fine, just grumpy cause someone decided to wake me up at 2:30 am." I said, rolling my eyes and going back to sleep. 
"Goodnight roomie." he said, kissing my cheek and walking out of the room. 
I woke up the next morning and walked out into the kitchen, only to find a huge mess. 
"ZAYN!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, and I heard footsteps seconds later. 
"Harry? What are you doing here?" I asked as he walked over to the fridge, grabbing the milk carton. 
"Well, nobody gave me a drink limit last night, so Zayn just let me crash here." he said, and come to think of it, he did look hungover. And hot, considering he was shirtless. 
"Okay, you are NOT going to drink from that carton. Where's Zayn?" I asked, getting impatient. I hated messes, and this was driving me crazy. 
"Right here." Zayn said, walking up behind me. 
"Zayn, this place is a mess! When I left this room last night, it was spotless. Care to explain?" I asked, my eyebrows raised. 
"No, but I'll clean it up, don't worry." he said, grabbing cups and throwing them into the garbage can. 
"So, that was quite the fight." Harry said, sitting next to me at the counter. 
"Not even. There's so much more I could have said. He seems clueless, like he's all innocent and stuff. But he's not." I said, taking a sip of water. 
"You gotta give him a chance." Harry said. 
"You don't understand Harry. I don't want to give him another chance. He doesn't deserve another chance." I said, shaking my head. 
"I understand where you're coming from. But the kid knows he messed up. And to be honest with you, I think he's developed feelings for you." Harry said, winking. 
"Stop it. It's not nice to spread lies like that. That's how rumors start, and how people get their hopes up, only to have them crushed. Besides, I don't like him." I confessed. And I thought it was true. 
But there was something inside me that said I was wrong.
