It was Harvey.
Ever since the thing with Jake he had grown cold towards me.
"Well, I sometimes come by, hoping he'll be here." I said, sounding awkward and childish.
He scoffed. "Listen Miss. I know what you did. It ain't right. My son, he's a good boy. Better than most. And you broke him." I opened my mouth to reply but he held up his hand, "Please, miss. Save it." he walked out, broom over shoulder.
I couldn't stay in this barn any long, my heart ached every time I thought of Jake and I here.
The air had grown chilly and I heard thunder bash up in the sky. The sudden sound of downpour greeted my ears and I dashed out, running full out along the path.
I stood sopping wet in my kitchen, about to go shower, when I changed my mind and grabbed my keys.
The engine started with ease and I drove to a house I knew well.
The mid-sized cottage based house stood alone in a field, set a couple hundred yards from the road.
I drove down the gravel drive way and parked right outside, and then ran over to the door.
I knocked until my fist was red, and when nobody answered I ran along the back where I knew Jacobs room balcony/cove was.
I felt so cliche as I tossed pebble after pebble against the window pane.
And finally his face apeared.
"What do you want." He said, his face stony.
"Please. Please talk to me. I have to talk to you. Please." I said, yelling up and through the rain.
He leaned farther out the windows, his hair becoming drenched.
"I'll be right down."
I ran back to the front yard just as he was coming out the door.
"I don't really care what you have to say, so make it quick." His voice was steely and full of bitterness. But I could sense a softening at seeing me.
He was soaked through already, and then we were standing a foot apart, in silence beside the storm.
"Jake. You know that even though I did that stuff to you, I wouldn't take it back. Because it gave me the chance to fall for you. And even though i've hurt you, I want you to know that I think I love you. But I know you've probably moved on. I just feel like you should know that." It all tumbled out of my mouth before I could give it a second thought.
He was quiet for a good five minutes. And then surprised me by giving me a hug.
"I know that I love you. I just can't even think right. That you were using me."
I shook him off, "I never used you. There were just... circumstances. Thats why I said no at first. I was going to talk to Kelly. But I didn't want to wait. I didn't want to fight. Look where it's gotten me. Believe me Jacob Henry. I love you, and no.
Not because I was dared to.
But because I dared to."
I put my hand on his face, "Please forgive me. I can't live without you."
He looked down and wiped his face, and then looked back at me.
"I can't stay mad at you len." he said.
He leaned in a kissed me, and it was one of those great kisses you hear about in movies.
Where something exploded inside of me.
"Its pouring." he said, laughing.
"Yeah." I replied to him breathless.
"And we're kissing."
"We should kiss again."
He had his arms around me, mine were around him.
"So if i'm still asking, what's your answer?" He spoke, kissing rain off of my cheek.
"Yes."


 I'm thinking of extending the story thanks to lovely readers[:
If its extended, would you rather it be her this age? and continue her life with her family here?
OR her with who she ends up with, and their future lives?
