Chapter 11

I woke up the next morning, still trying to remember what exactly happened last night. Danny took me to a club, and it was really fun. Although I think I had one too many drinks, because I woke up with a pounding headache. I checked my phone and saw a text from him.
Danny: You sure know how to have a good time! Last night was amazing babe! xx
Babe? What happened last night? I vaguely remembered dancing with Danny, then we went for a walk, I think. He took me to the beach, where we sat on blankets, freezing cold. I think I remember us kissing too, but I'm not sure. I got out of bed and walked downstairs to get a glass of water. When I saw Zayn and Liam wide-eyed and staring at me, I got worried. Did I really look that bad? I looked down to see what I was wearing, something I normally wouldn't be caught dead in. My white tank top was tucked into a black glittery miniskirt I forgot I had. I saw my teal heels near the door, and felt my teal feather earrings in my ears. I must have changed after we went bowling. 
"Someone's looking fine." Zayn said, winking at me. 
"You guys did NOT let me go out dressed like this. Did you?" I asked, not remembering much. 
"You wanted to. I told you to change, but you said no." Liam said, nad I put my hands to my face. This is so embarassing. Luckily my mother wasn't home, because she would be concerned if she was. 
"Where are you going, another date with Niall?" Harry teased, walking into the kitchen. 
"Okay, seriously. Can you please stop with the jokes about Niall and I? Because I honestly don't like him like that. As a matter of fact, it's getting quite annoying." I said, hoping they would understand. 
"That's too bad, cause Niall's waaaay into you." Harry said, and I knew he was lying. 
"Well, I would never be into him. Ever. He's definitely not my type. At all. It's kind of funny that you guys think we would make a good couple. Because I don't. I don't like him. At all. Got it?" I asked, and their faces were shocked. Because behind me, Niall was listening. 
"At all?" he repeated, and I realized I messed up the words. I meant not in that way, but he misunderstood me. He walked out of the room, looking upset. Great, I just hurt his feelings. 
"You knew he was there and didn't tell me? Why do I even hang around with you?" I asked, walking off to find Niall. I found him in the guest room, sitting on the bed with a blank expression on his face.
"Niall, is everything alright?" I asked, even though it wasn't. 
"I didn't know you didn't like me." he said, sounding hurt.
"Niall, I didn't mean it like that. The boys were teasing me about going on a date with you again, and I told them I didn't like you like that. I didn't think you were there, and it was just a misunderstanding. I do like you, really. You're a great friend." I said, looking him in the eyes.
"Alright. I believe you." he said, putting his arms around me to give me a hug.
"But what are you wearing?" he asked, laughing.
"Shut up. I didn't even know I left the house in this." I said truthfully.
"Actually, Harry picked it out." Niall said, laughing even harder. That jerk! I should have known he was behind this somehow.
"I'm going out for breakfast, you wanna come?" I asked, and he shook his head. I went up to my room and changed into a pair of jeans and my red leather coat. I laced up the black ankle boots my mother got me as an early Christmas present. My mom was the it girl in high school, and wanted me to be the same. But I refused to become a statistic, so I did what I wanted instead of what my mother wanted. She thought that if I dressed like I was popular, it would make me popular. I don't usually wear what she buys me, but these boots are super cute so I wore them just for the day. I walked out to Niall's car without the other guys noticing. He drove to the diner in the center of town, where we would eat our breakfast.
"So, you excited for the trip?" he asked, making eye contact with me.
"Yeah, it should be fun. I'm glad Kristen's coming, cause I don't know if I can handle all five of you guys by myself for more than a week." I said with a laugh. He turned the radio on, and this time Achilles Last Stand was playing. Niall didn't even move his hand and try to change the station.
"You're a Led Zeppelin fan, right?" he asked, and I knew he remembered. When we got to the diner, we enjoyed a nice meal. It was nice talking with Niall, about anything. I talked to him about school, the upcoming trip, and how I was finally over Mike.
"That's great. It really is." he said, smiling slightly. But for some reason, I couldn't help but think that smile was fake.
"You know, we're going to get teased for this." I said, referring to us going to breakfast together.
"Whatever. They know I'm not into you." he said, waving it off.
"That's funny, cause Harry said you were waaaaay into me." I said, quoting the last part.
"Harry's a big liar, remember?" he asked, making me laugh.
Being with Niall was always fun, and he made me laugh. I didn't have to try with him. He accepted me for who I was, and I liked that about him.
Wait, what? I don't like Niall. I kept repeating that in my head.
But for some reason, my brain kept telling me I was lying.
I guess I'll find out sooner or later.
