Miss me

Chapter 10

Later that night, Troy and I left the chinese restaurant and returned to the beach. Since it was the first of July, there were going to be fireworks for Canada Day.
Troy and I set a blanket down on the beach and lay down next to each other. Troy wrapped an arm around me and pulled me closer so I could lean my head on his chest.
"Oh, my God, the wait is agonizing," I said.
"Patience. It'll start an minute-" Before Troy could finish, we heard the loud crackle of the fireworks going up and then they exploded with a loud bang. I stared at them in wonder watching all the different colours and shapes.
"Look at that one!" I pointed to one.
"That one's pretty cool," Troy said pointing to another one.
"That purple one!" I exclaimed.
"These are pretty amazing, huh?"
"They're beautiful," I breathed out in wonder.
"Not as beautiful as you are," Troy whispered in my ear. I felt giddy inside and started to blush.
"Oh, Troy," I said.
"Hey, Lexi, you know what?"
"Cows have four stomachs."
"Do they?"
"Yea, I found out yesterday," I said seriously and Troy chuckled.
"Alright, do you know what else?"
"What?"
"I love you." I was quiet for a moment, surprised that he said it so quickly. Finally, I grinned up at him.
"I know."
I set my head back down on his chest and fell asleep.
I woke up later in a moving car with my head against the window. I yawned and stretched as much as I could in the car and looked around. To my right, Troy was in the driver's seat. Outside I saw signs that indicated that I was ten minutes away from my house. 
"Where are we going?" I yawned.
"I didn't think you'd wake up. Do you wanna go home or to my house?" I thought about it for a moment.
"My place. I wanna sleep in my bed."
"Sure thing."
We finally arrived at my house. 
"Alright, I guess I'll see you later," I said to Troy. I leaned over and gave him a quick kiss. He shifted in his seat so that he was closer to me. He put his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him for a kiss but I pushed him back a little.
"Troy, I'm tired. Maybe some other time."
"I'm gonna miss you," he said quietly. "It was bad enough that I was hours away from you before but now that you're so close but still far away; it hurts a lot. I miss you a lot."
"I'm right here, Troy. I'm right here."
