Chapter 6
 
Wow, this town is small.
There was about 30 stores tops in this small place.
But this place is pretty nice; it’s filled with lights; kind of like home.
I miss my house already.
Surprisingly I miss my parents too, even my mother.
She was so heartless when Marky died, he was my brother; I loved him too.
According to her I needed help, but that is a joke.
I’m not the one who went around slapping people; she had no right to touch me.
There weren’t words to describe how much I missed my 4 other siblings.
Jacob, Mallory, Matt, and Bella.
They were all from 11-6
“Zach?”
“Oh, yeah?”
“Nothing, you wanna get something to eat?”
“Depends, where?”
“Bobby’s Burgers or Western Diner?”
“You only have two restaurants?”
“Yes, now pick one!”
I’m not in the mood for burgers at all, “Western Diner.”
She nodded and led the way. This ought to be fun.

“Howdy there y’all, can I take your order?”
“Hey Mrs. Mckeen, and can I get a salad?”
“Of course honey, how about you young man?”
“Uh, a grilled cheese”
The lady nodded and walked away.
I starred at Grace for a little while, she had rosey pink lips. White teeth that were always showing, and her big brown eyes are as dark as her southern tan. Dang, she was pretty.
“Is there something on my face?”
Here was my opportunity.
“Well there’s a whole lot of pretty”
I bit my lip, that always drives the ladies crazy!
“Listen here city boy I’m not falling for you or any of your fake compliments, you’re here to work on my farm, and I’m here to whip you back into shape, so don’t even try to play this.”
First time at rejection, what to do now?
Just play it cool.
“I was just joking around to soften you up a bit, chill.”
She got bright red, like she was embarrassed for flipping on me for no reason.
Too bad I wasn’t, this girl is going to be hard to trick.
But hey, I got a whole summer.
