without your family being sad, and none of your friends knew.
As though you were just completely forgotten,
    Would you do it?

    Chapter 2
    ~Richie’s POV~
It was cold out, so I wore a thick jacket.
I hated walking home, to a place I wasn’t welcomed to.
Being an orphan was the shittiest thing ever.
No one wants a 17 year old guy that resents the world for everything.
I heard a car stop behind me.
Sure enough, it was probably just going to enter the house closest to them.
But then I felt a tight grasp on my shoulder.
Then two more on my left arm.
There was a shock entering through my body, as I fell to the floor.
The concrete hit my face, in embarrassment on how I didn’t even put up a fight.
My body was weak and numb, I tried telling myself to scream, but nothing would come out.
As my vision went black, the last thing I heard was “Take him to car, this is the one.”
    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I woke up, looking around my surroundings.
The walls gray, my hands cuffed to the metal chair I was attached too, along with my legs duck tapped around the chair.
    “Hello?”
    No response.
    “Is anyone here?”
The more I asked, the more I knew I didn’t want anyone to be here.
What if they knew about everything?
What if they were coming to take me back?
    This can’t be happening again.
Suddenly I heard a door open and close.
Two men walked into the room.
One was tall and buff, the other short but still buff.
They both were wearing black suits, with their hair slicked back.
“Do you know why you’re hear Richie?” The tall one asked.
    “I-I don’t know.”
“Of course you know, you’re the super Richie, you know everything.” The short on spitted back to me.
    “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
    I lied, I did know.
    I knew what they wanted.
“Don’t play dumb with us Richie!” The tall one screamed. “We know who you really are, we know everything.”
“I’m Richie Rambardy. I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
They both looked at each other and laughed.
“You’re really going to keep this up?” Man, this short one was annoying.
“Listen guys, I think you’ve got the wrong person.” My position shifted.
I was uncomfortable, and wanted to leave.
The tall one walked up to me, close to my face.
“We know who you are, we know everything. Agent Matt Reed.”
    They know.
    How could they though?
That was all in the past, a secret, how did they find out?
    How do they know?

    Chapter 1
The shore looked to calm and serene.
With each wave crashing on the sand, I stepped a little bit closer.
A sweet melody sang in my head, “Home is in your eyes”
There was tension all around me, unspoken words clouding the sky.
I was alone, on this sandy surface, no one surrounded me.
But voice echoed throughout the beach, where were they coming from?
I took another step, the water close to crashing on my feet.
Then the cool water touched me, and entangled me.
Something grabbed my foot, pulling me, dragging me across the sand.
I tried to shout but nothing came out.
The sky turned to a deep blood color, the ocean into a twisted eerie maroon shade.
I kicked struggling to get out.
The water quickly engulfing me, leaving my last breathe as a gulp of water.
My eyes closed to the stinging water, and the fear of seeing what grabbed me.
Trying to swim away, but failing I kicked hard.
I opened my eyes for a small glimpse, seeing nothing but death around me.
    But then I saw Dean.
My reaction was to swim towards him, gab him and bring him back to the shore.
“Dean!” I attempted to shout, but it all came out as bubbles.
Losing breathe, I grabbed out my arm at one last attempt to save him.
Then something grabbed him, he was gone.
“Lakota, Lakota!” A hissing voice screamed.
    “LAKOTA!”
I jolted upwards, only to see all my peers staring at me.
“Glad you could join us in class again, next time try not to nap in my class.”
    I scanned the area.
Safe and sound, sitting in Mrs. Richard’s history class.
The bell rang, and I gathered all my stuff quickly, leaving the class.
    “Hey! Lakota, wait up!”
Bryson was signaling me to walk with him, but I want in the mood.
He cheated on me for the 5th time last night; I still don’t know why I was with him.
A hand grasped my shoulder, turning around to see Bryson.
“What do you want?” My snippy tone screeched.
“Listen babe, I’m sorry it won’t happen again”
His hand wrapped around my waste.
“That’s what you said the last 4 times; get off of me you pig.”
    “Come on babe.”
He grabbed me again, but I pushed him off.
    “We’re through!”
I walked down the hall, with a smile spread across my face.
Exiting the building as a free woman.

    ~Prologue~
There was never much to my life, just the typical teenage life.
I had grown into a family of riches, my father being the owner of popular business and all.
Sports were a major part of my life, along with my friends.
My grades had always been high, showing off my academic knowledge.
But soon enough my life had changed.
    I was being watched.
With every step and move I made, it was recorded.
There was a new kid that came to my school, who took much interest in my life.
His name is Richie, mine is Lakota.
Funny name for a girl, right?
    Well anyways, he was mysterious.
I, being the curious girl, wanted to find out what his deal was.
The shocking truth would break me forever.
    “You can’t handle the truth!”
    That is true, I couldn’t.
Because I’d find out that he was one of them.
The people that were always watching.

    Chapter 24
The wind blowing made my hair fly back to move with breeze.
I’d been going out a lot, but not with friends.
Just by myself, I needed some alone time.
Finally reaching my destination I pulled open the door.
I took a seat at the Café, the booths were worn out, but still comfortable.
The woman who owned the small shop was Darcy.
She was about my grandmother age, they were best friends.
Every now and then I come here alone to catch up with her, ever since my grandmother passed away in late fall.
    She’s been lonely.
So I’ve just been trying to fill in that wanted friendship she lost.
    “Well, hello there darling!”
Darcy took a seat in the booth across from me.
She looked tired, she always does now.
Last month my mother told me that Darcy is just too old and worn out to have that need to live anymore.
“Hey Darcy, how have you been?”
“Err, tired. You caught me at a good time, I was just coming back from giving flowers to Raymond and Nathaniel’s graves.” Her expression dropped from a weak smile, to a loss of connection to the world.
I’ll never forget the story she told me about that night.
“Darcy, how come you don’t have kids like my grandma does?” My innocent young voice asked.
    “Well, I use to.”
    My interests got higher.
    “What happened to them?”
She looked up at me, “I’m not sure this is a appropriate story to tell you.”
I looked up at her with my best puppy dog look, “Pleeeease!”
“Errr, fine. You see 20 years ago I use to have a beautiful 8 year old boy, with a wonderful husband.”
“Well, were are they? Did they go away?”
    I always interrupt.
“Kind of, one night my son, Nathaniel wanted to go out for icecream. My husband Raymond volunteered to take him. They got into a car accident. They’ve been with God ever since.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, if I had known I would had come later.”
“Oh no sweety, its fine, I love your company. You’re just like your grandma.” Darcy said in a pitiful tone.
    I gave her a smile.
One of her workers came to our table in a panic.
“Oh Darcy! We burnt 5 orders already! The grill just keeps burning them!”
Darcy looked up at me, “Listen, be at my house tonight at 5, I’ll cook dinner. That way we can catch up.”
    “Okay, I’d love that.”
Just like that, I was alone again.
The thought I’d been wanting to get rid of came back, once again.
    Zach.Zach.Zach.Zach.Zach.
“No! Shut up, I don’t care about that stupid city boy!”
I screeched, only realizing the whole café was looking at me.
Did I seriously just say that out oud?
Darcy came out of the kitchen, “Are you okay?”
    Even she heard it?
    “Yeah, I’m fine.”
I ran out of there as fast as I could.
    Running into him.

    Chapter 23
    -2 weeks later-
Grace and I hadn’t had an actual conversation in quite some time.
She hurt me, and there just wasn’t enough strength in me to get over it.
Usually I hurt the girls; they sit there and cry over me.
    Now it’s the opposite way.
On the other hand, she seemed happier.
The way that Grace was smiling now and going out with her friends all the time.
Me on the other hand was teaching her little brother about ‘how to be a man.’
“So when I grow up am I going to have to dress like you?” Lucas said in a negative tone.
“Well no, but if you move to the city I’d advise you too.”
He gave me this curious look.
As though I had a secret of some sort.
“Does my older sister have cooties? Or do those go into the sky and rain only on girls in my school?”
This sentence made me give a loud chuckle.
“Unfortunately, that statement is true lad.”
“Why does Grace look at you funny?”
How did this conversation end up about her?
That’s the last thing in the world I wanted to talk about.
    “Like what?”
“Well she looks like she just ate a birthday cake all by herself and a sodapop!”
    Boy, was he so naive.
“Listen kid, your sister doesn’t want anything to do with me; so let’s just drop the subject.”
He looked at me with those big brown eyes like Grace’s.
Man, I was a sucker for brown eyes.
“I’m sorry Lucas, I’m just frustrated.”
“Don’t worry; she likes you almost more than I like the Power-Rangers. And that’s a lot.”
    “How do you know this?”
His hand waved to come closer to him.
He cuffed his hands around my ear preparing himself to tell a major secret.
“I read her diary” Lucas said in a low whisper, “But don’t tell my mom, she’ll take away my train set.”
I pretend to give him a shocked look.
“I wouldn’t dare to tell anyone bud.”
Just like that, discovering Grace maybe was faking this whole time.
    Maybe she misses me?
Maybe she regrets hurting our friendship.
But then again, maybe she wasn’t.
*as you can tell I’m losing interest in this story. But I’ll keep it going for you guys!

    Chapter 23
The tension in the air grew with each word spoken.
A fake ‘wedding’ was the last thing I expected to be doing.
Watching a movie was the first thing I really wanted to be doing tonight.
But then again this wasn’t too bad.
“You may kiss the bride!” A high pitched voice announced.
Only now I realized just how zoned out I really had been.
Not even taking into account what Zach was wearing or how he had that goofy smile on his face.
The more I thought about it, the long I portrayed myself as a stupid naive girl.
There it was, seeing how me, the most untricked person in the planet, fell for this fake city boy.
    How stupid could I be?
While his face was leaning in closer and closer to mine, I took a step back.
    “I-I can’t do this.”
He face filled with embarrassment, but then he started laughing, “It’s fake, calm down.”
“No, I-I mean I can’t do us, you’re just some stupid city body on my farm, this doesn’t mean anything. You don’t mean anything.”
Just then the mood dropped, along with his smile.
Turning to Bella I saw her hurt expression too, so then without a choice I just ran to my room.
    ~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~
It had been two hours since my dramatic exit, and the unbearable hurt scene.
There were so many thoughts floating around in my head, did I really mean that stuff?
Or was I just trying to escape my feelings?
The knock on my door startled me, and then a small child entered my room.
    Bella.
She took a seat right next to me on my bed.
“You know when he told me my bedtime stories he told me about his day with you.”
My face flustered up with a pink tint.
“Zachy told me that you were better than any other princess in a castle, he said he was would fight off any dragon for you. He’s like a Prince but a knight too.” I noticed her grammar was broken up, like how she pronounced her “l” as a “w” noise.
As she finally decided to leave after our long awkward silence she slowly glanced up at me, “I hope this story end good, or else I want my bedtimes back.”
That last remark of her made me giggle.
Just before she left the room I spoke, “Bella wait,” she turned to face me, “thank you.”
    Now my feelings were clear.
That I just wasn’t ready to decide how I felt.

    Chapter 22
There was a certain excitement, just knowing that Grace had wanted to kiss me.
The clacking down the hall had symbolized that she was coming.
Bella wanted her to dress up for the fake wedding, making her wear a dress with the closest thing she had to heels; a pair of country boots.
I stood up straight, fixing my black jeans and polo shirt.
When Grace entered the room, the mood had become lighter and more surreal.
She was wearing a dress with autumn colors, illuminating her brown glistening eyes.
Grace kept her hair swept back in a braid, keeping her rosey cheeks in focus.
“You look just like a Princess, doesn’t she look pretty Zachy?!” Bella screeched
    “Uh, yeah, really pretty.”
Her smile widened after she heard my response.
There was a sudden awkwardness knowing that her parents and my father were just around the hall in the kitchen.
“Okay ready guys?” Grace and I nodded yes to answer Bella’s question.
We stood facing each other, holding hands.
It felt so real, as though it was real, I wouldn’t mind marry her.
Southern Bells were better than the usual.
With their think accents, and class; it made everything more interesting, more mysterious.
That was one of the reasons I was drawn to her.
Another was those eyes, when my eyes connect with them it’s hard to pull away.
Staring at her now, I realized that the only thing I was focused in on was her.
My sound had gone silent, along with my hearing, and mind.
It’s the feeling of knowing that all you ever think about is right in front of you.
The only thing you listen to, isn’t speaking a words.
And the only time your words matter, are when you have none left to say.
That’s the way I feel, call me crazy, but I had fallen.
The boy I was before coming here, was buried in a grave for good.
    Maybe change was better.

    Chapter 21
My legs gathered up strength to bounce off the ground, causing myself to seem like a rocket talking off into space.
Each time my foot left the ground, I felt like I was closer to being saved.
With the distant yelp of my name and Zach’s, each call made me desperately go faster.
Off in the distance I could see 2 tall and slender figures.
Tears were streaming down my face, could it really be?
There was an instant feeling of safety, when I saw those big brown eyes I had been passed on.
“Papa!” I screamed as I ran into his arms.
My dad, the man that I had been so mean to, was looking for me.
His grasp tightened as his tears came out too.
“Oh, my sweet little girl, it’s you. We found you.”
Once my vision un blurred my eyes met a familiar face, and green eyes.
He looked just look Zach, but more aged, with gray hair arousing from the brown dark color.
The lines next to his white teeth, made it obvious that he had shown those teeth to many people with his smile.
    “Dad?”
I looked to see Zachary, in complete shock to the man in front of him.
    “Well hey there son.”
    “Why are you here?”
The man’s raspy voice seemed to change town from sadness to a plain one, “I heard you were missing, so I came looking for you.”
    “Well you didn’t need to.”
“Yes I did son, everyone’s worried about you. Bella even came here with me; she got concerned when you didn’t call her these past nights.”
Zach’s face light up in excitement, “She’s here?! Well, then what are we waiting for, let’s go!”
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
My eyes wandered around the room.
I sipped in the hot soothing liquid that was placed in my mug.
The coffee made me smile, but most of all it was watching Zach be so happy to see Bella.
When we had entered the house Bella’s immediate reaction was to leap into her big brothers arms.
Even after 15 minutes of being with him, her arms were still clasped around his neck.
“Bella, do you wanna meet Grace?” Zach’s firm voice signaled her that she should.
She walked up to me and smiled.
Without warning she hugged me too.
“Zachy, you were right, she is pretty. Like a princess.”
His face started to fluster red, mine did too after hearing that he thought I was pretty.
“Well, thank you Bella and Zach, now I bet if anyone wanted a princess, they would choice you.”
Her giggle filled the room as her rosey cheeks began to disappear from her smile.
She was adorable, missing her two front teeth.
“Grace, will you play a game with me and Zachy?”
“Of course, it would be my pleasure.”
“Yayyy! Ekkkk, let’s play Castle. You two can be the King and Queen, and I’ll be the Princess! First let’s do a Royal wedding. Between you two!”
Zach and my eyes locked together, as my face flushed red.
His voice cracked, “Um, so what first?”
Bella looked up with eyes lit, “You have to kiss the bride!”

    Chapter 20
I took a sip of water.
The heated water canvas trapped the water, making the refreshment taste like boiled tea water.
I cringed my face in displeasure.
“This water is nasty.” The more I spoke, the more my voice sounded dried out.
“Well make it last, that’s the only water we have left, we need the rest for the horses.”
I extended my neck as the spit left my mouth hitting the grassy grounds beneath the horse and I.
“What about us? Why do these horses get everything?”
She gave me a dirty look, “These horses are the only way we’re getting home, and if they’re dehydrated then we get stuck out here.”
The sun’s rays beamed towards my face.
I could feel the skin on my cheeks and nose burning, as though there was a match being lit right under my chin.
The firey sensation made it hard to smile, or for that matter show any expression.
“Zach, we should stop and get you in some shade, you’re burnt to the crisp.”
I tried to give a shy smile, but that made my skin feel like plastic, “Good idea.”
We moved our horses to the forest beside us, getting into the shade.
Before my questioning annoyed Grace, of why we didn’t ride in the forest away from the sun.
She explained it would make it harder to see and we’d get even more lost.
    Which I understood.
I leaned my back against a tall, long tree.
My butt stuck between two branches, giving me an opportunity to tap a rhythm.
I choose ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ by Journey.
    Then began to sing.
“Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world. She took the midnight train goin' anywhere”
I did have a voice. But I was shy.
Then Grace chimed in, “Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit. He took the midnight train goin' anywhere.”
I smiled, continuing my part, “A singer in a smokey room, a smell of wine and cheap perfume. For a smile they can share the night, It goes on and on and on and on.”
We laughed and looked at each other.
She had the eyes that autumn leaves would be jealous of.
“How come you never told me you were that good?”
I shrugged my shoulders, “You never asked.”
Her giggle climbed over the sound of the windy breeze I was desperately in need of.
Then my ears came into a noise off in the distance.
“Grace? Zach? Are you out there?”
Was that a rescue call, or was my imagination just playing tricks on me?
    Well, we oughta find out.

    Chapter 19
The rain poured all around us.
With each drop coming down exploding into tiny droplets; the earth’s soil would slowly inhale.
Zachary was in the corner of the shelter we found.
It was similar to a cave but more sunken into the ground, the more you went into the path, the roomy it got.
I sat toward the end of the path, so the rain would trickle off the rocky roof, onto my old cowboy boats.
My knees were against my chest, as I hugged my body.
I regret all of this, the pain I’m causing my family, was the pain I felt when my older sister had ran away too.
“Grace, remember me for who I was, not who I had become these past couple of months, tell baby Drew stories that would make him smile, not stories that would make him scared of me. And tell Papa and mama I love them, but I need to leave.”
“But Courtney, where are you going, are you gunna be home before my Horse riding competition?” I winced in pain, how could she miss my big day?
“I’m afraid not, I’m gunna go wherever the wind takes me.”
“The wind, well that’s silly, what if the wind stops?”
    “Then that’s where I stop.”
Courtney grabbed her bag, kissed my forehead, and tipped her straw hat back.
    My body quivered with fear.
That was the last day I saw my older sister.
My tears whelmed up in my eyes, the warm water slowly fell onto my cheeks, making their way down my face.
I got up; realizing all I wanted was to sleep.
My eyes made its way to writing on the cave.
“I'll reach out my hand to you I'll have faith in all you do. Just call my name and I'll be there.”
Without hesitation my knees collapsed and the tears poured out more.
The harder I cried, the more my body ached.
I felt muscular arms wrap around me, pulling me into a tight embrace.
“Shh, it’s going to be okay.”
I looked up at those emerald green eyes, Zach.
My arms wrapped around him as he came down sitting next me, holding my body close to his.
“What’s wrong?” His voice spoke in a sincere tone.
“That was the song my sister sang me every night, right before I went to bed. She was thinking about me.”
His long fingers pushed back my creamy maple brown hair, “Of course she was, she loved you.”
He paused, as his lips came in contact with mine.
    “Grace, you are so beautiful.”
    Then I kissed him back.
Now I knew I could make it through this night, with him.

    Chapter 18
    The silence was killing me.
It’s weird to just hear the tree branches swaying back and forth.
The clicking of the horse’s clapping feet.
After hours of this awkward no talking period, stubborn Grace finally spoke up, but I wish she hadn’t.
“I’m sorry.” Did she really just say that?
Shocking, coming from her, but being the gentleman I am I decided to take blame, “No I should be the one who’s sorry.”
    “You’re right, you should.”
“Woah, why the sudden blame on me? I thought you were taking blame.”
She didn’t answer, which made me assume the conversation was over.
    Oh boy, was I wrong.
“Why did you have to come here?”
“My parents made me, I don’t want to be here.”
In the distance there were gun fires.
Gun fires? Why here in the innocent Country?
I turned to see Grace’s face flush from a peachy rose to ghostly white.
    “What’s wrong?”
    “Th-they’re hunters.”
Her stuttering made me nervous, “So?”
“You don’t understand, they’re ruthless, they’ll kill anything that moves.”
I chuckled at her scared tone, “Obviously they won’t kill 2 people on horses.”
She snapped back at me, “Yeah, that’s what I thought, until they killed my older sister Courtney.”
    Grace had an older sister?
    Why hadn’t she told me?
    “I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”
“I wouldn’t expect you too, seems like my life isn’t that perfect little fantasy you made it out to be.”
“Listen Grace, I’m sor-“ Her voice cut me off before I could finish.
“We need to find shelter, somewhere they can’t see us.”
My head was arising in questions, one stood out, “And what if they do?”
He eyes wandered to the ground.
    “That isn’t an option.”
“Grace, what will happen, tell me!”
She looked up at me, scared and paler than before.
    “We die.”

    City Boy.
    Chapter 16
I woke up to the cool and chilly summer air that wandered the night.
My eyes creeped open to see the midnight blue sky and twinkling starts shinning on the Earth.
    Where the hell am I?
The trees around me caused an eerie feeling; the moonlight caused shadows around me, making the fear become more intense.
“H-hello? Is anyone out there?” I called out for some reassurance, for something to tell me everything was okay.
And a sweet angelic voice did, “Zach, it’s okay, it’s me Grace.”
My memory fluttered back of what happened only pervious hours ago.
I sat up straight to see Grace, sitting in front on me, looking up at the stars.
“When I was little, my parents used to tell me that every one of those stars were someone that was in heaven, “ I kept going seeing she didn’t have a reaction, “when my big brother died my parents told my younger siblings that the North Star was him, because even when the morning raised you could faintly see it.”
She turned in my direction and looked down at the ground, “That’s beautiful.”
There was something trickling down Grace’s cheek, the light casted around us made it shine.
    Was she crying?
I scooted over the 4 feet separating out bodies.
“What’s wrong Grace? Why are you crying?”
She grabbed me and started to bawl, I swear if I collected her tears I could make a small pond.
“I didn’t mean what I said back there, I’m a monster.” Her words were so shakey I was surprised I could make out what she said.
My fingers locked with hers, as I left my other hand push back her hair softly, “I know you didn’t, and I’m sure they know that too.”
“I wanna go home.” She looked up at me with pleading eyes.
My head shook and I kissed her forehead. “We’ll go back first thing tomorrow.”
    Grace hesitantly responded, “W-we cant.”
    I laughed.
    “And whys that?”
Grace’s face became serious, which freaked me out a little bit.
“I don’t know where we are, and how to get home, I’m sorry I didn’t mean for us to get lost, we just kept riding out in different directions, and I’ve never been this far out before.”
    Things we’re getting serious.
    We’re lost?
How does this happen to someone who knows this state better than her name?
    Why didn’t she say anything?
“Everything’s going to be okay.” I held her closer to me.
Truthfully, I said that for my reassurance, just to hear it.
But deep down, I knew it wouldn’t be.
