Double Life
 Melanie's POV
Chapter 2
 

I slumped out of bed, still sore from training the day before. Now it was time to live my normal life as a teenage girl. “Melanie, don’t forget training tonight. You better not be late again!” my mother shouted while I sprinted out the door.

I drove to Starbuck’s to meet Aubrey and Natalie. I ordered the usual and joined them. They were speaking in French. We always spoke in different languages so people couldn’t understand us and for practice. “I’m so excited for February break in England!” I exclaimed in English. “We still have to plan out our outfits and everything.” Aubrey added. “Natalie, did you ask your parents if Will could come?” I asked while taking a sip of my coffee. “No.” said Natalie quietly. “Well, you have too. You’d miss him so much.” I told her. Aubrey was tweeting on her Android trying to avoid the fact that we were talking about boyfriends. She didn’t have one and felt left out. “Well, unlike your parents, mine aren’t exactly as understanding.” Natalie said to me. “Come on Nat, they’ll defiantly let him come! If Chase is going, then he like has to come.” We kept discussing the vacation that we were all uber excited about until it was time to leave for school.

School was uneventful, as usual. It was just your typical prep school in D.C. with a bunch of overly rich teenagers with important parents in the government or something, wearing lots and lots of plaid. “Remember Melanie, trainings at your place tonight. Don’t stay out too late with Chase again or your parents are going to flip.” Aubrey said as we walked to lunch. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. Training sucks though.” I said. “Training?” I turned around to find Chase asking me. “See you at lunch.” Aubrey said while leaving us alone. “Nothing, it’s just some stupid girl thing.” I lied. He didn’t know I was a secret agent. Sometimes, it was so hard. I loved him so much and keeping a huge part of my life from him was almost impossible. “Alright, are we still on for dinner tonight?” he asked. “Of course. At five or my parents will freak.” I told him. “Sounds good.” he said while kissing me on the cheek before he was off to his next class. “Love you.” he said. “Love you too.” I told him before walking off to lunch.

Later that night Chase and I went off to dinner, as planned. “Aren’t you excited for England?” I asked him after we ordered. “Yeah, of course I am. I couldn’t imagine being away from you for more than a week. It’s just…” he trailed off. “Just, what?” I asked. “I don’t know. You’re parents are going to be there and I’m not sure if they like me all that much.” he said. “Oh come on Chase, they love you. If they didn’t they wouldn’t have invited you to come with us. Besides, they’ll be with Natalie and Aubrey’s parents the whole time. We’ll barley see them.” I told him with a smile.

We ate our dinners and afterwards we went ice skating. We had an amazing time. I fell a lot, but it was okay. He helped me up and decided to hold my hand the entire time so my butt would actually be off of the ice. “It’s seven o’clock ladies and gentlemen. Open skate will end in thirty minutes.” The loud speaker said. “Oh my god, did he say seven? I’m sorry I have to go. See you tomorrow.” I said while kissing him on the cheek and skating towards the exit as fast as I could without falling.

I drove home as fast as I could. I walked in to find both my parents and Natalie and Aubrey waiting at the door. “You’re late.” my father said sternly. “Sorry, I lost track of time.” I said trying not to make eye contact. “Melanie, your training comes first, then boys.” my mother added. “I’m sorry. It’s hard to balance things. Maybe if you would let me tell him.” I mumbled. I assumed they didn’t hear me and we went straight to our training.
