I Won't Forget
Chapter 8
“’Kay, we gotta board
now,” Mitch told me, “You ready?”
I
nodded. He grabbed my hand and we walked onto the plane. People
around us would probably think we’re a couple, but Mitch
and I were honestly, just like brother and
sister.
As we got into our seats after Mitchell stowed away our
carry-ons, I sighed and turned my head to look over at him. I
ruffled his hair with my hand and smiled.
“Thanks, Mitch.” I said. He smiled
back.
“Don’t mention it Leesh. I gotchu.
Forever…”
“And always.” I said softly, remembering how Olivia
always said that to both of us.
We talked about Olivia for most of the flight. On and off, we
laughed and cried. I imagined how different things would be if
the accident never happened. Mitch told me to keep my head up. He
promised things would get better. It
was unbelievable how strong he
was.
After we talked for hours, I was getting
pretty tired so I leaned back in my seat. The flight attendant
came up and asked if we wanted anything to eat for dinner. Mitch
ordered some huge gourmet meal (psh, football players) and I just
ordered an iced tea. That was Liv’s favorite. Besides, I
wasn’t hungry anyway, I was too anxious. It was going to be
a long flight and I hadn’t gotten a real good sleep in a
long time so I leaned my head on Mitch’s shoulder and
drifted off.
Before I knew it, the next day, we were in Palestine. Adam helped
me up, grabbed the carry-ons, and we headed off the
plane.
I looked out the huge windows as we walked through the airport.
It was beautiful outside. The rest of our time at the airport was
a blur. Mitch took care of getting our luggage and then we headed
outside and into a cab. As I got into the back seat, I asked
Mitch,
“So do you have the address?”
“Right here.” he grinned while handing me a crumpled
paper with Adam’s address on it. I smiled and held my
growling stomach. Mitch noticed.
“Okay I got us a really nice hotel. I got 2 rooms with a
connecting door. So we’ll go there first to drop off our
things, shower, order some food from room service, and then you
can head out.”
“Me? Don’t you mean us?” I
widened my eyes.
“I think it’s better if you go first. Just go…
talk to his family and him, and indirectly convince him. Then
I’ll call him up and we can meet later tonight for dinner
or something.” he said.
“Okay, sounds good.” I said, with a shaky
voice.
We got to the hotel and got settled in our rooms. I took a nice,
warm shower in my room and changed into a cute, long, green
sun-dress. Green was Adam's favorite color. Then we ordered
some Arab food at the hotel, and then I said goodbye to Mitch,
grabbed a cab, gave the driver the address, and headed to
Adam’s house. When
the driver pulled up to his house, my mouth dropped open.
Adam’s house was a mansion. It was in a gated community so
it was pretty legit. I thanked the driver, gave him his money,
and walked out of the car.
I slowly approached the house, feeling sick to my
stomach. I fixed my hair, applied some lip gloss, straightened
out my dress, cleared my throat, and took a deep breath in. I
lifted my arm while closing my eyes and I rang the doorbell. It
was time.
