I still don't understand why platonic love isn't romanticised more than romantic love, or even just friendship. It means a lot of the harder lessons you learn come as a shock to you, as a surprise, because nobody warned you that friendship was so important -- that it could hurt you so much so deeply. And you end up feeling guilty for caring so much about something that nobody else seems to be bothered by.
Well, that's the beginning of it. All the amazing things are also a surprise.
