Curveball
Chapter Nine
Hannah's POV
After the game, I was going to kill all of them. Not really but I was going to hit a few of them. They were all waiting in the hallway when we were released from the locker room. All of them looked at me as soon as they saw me.
"I hate all of you, just so you know." I smiled at them. My teammates from basketball filtered out and were whispering behind me I'm sure about the guys.
"Baker come here." John said, motioning for me to follow him away from everyone.
"What's up?"
"Someone would like to take you out, right now."
"What? Who?"
"Notice who is not with the rest of the guys and by the door waiting for you."
I looked down to the door and no way! Chip was standing there waiting for me.
"Shut up! How did this happen?"
"I worked my magic."
"John!"
"I just told him he should take a chance on my best friend, becuase he obivously likes her, and she's worth taking a chance on."
"He does?"
"I've only been saying it for days Baker! Now go!"
"Wait doesn't Zach think he's getting a ride with Chip?"
"Oh man, we didn't think about that." I looked around and my eyes fell on two of my teammate.
"I got an idea. Give me a second." I walked over to my teammates Alyssa and Erin. "Hey girls."
"Hannah your teammates are the cutest guys." Alyssa said.
"Yeah they're great. Can you two do me a favor?"
"Sure."
"Do you guys see that guy over there?" I pointed at Zach. "I need you two to distract him so me and his cousin can go out. He hates me and doesn't want me and his cousin to be hanging out."
"Seriously? Lame! But yeah we got this." I watched them walk over to Zach clearly laying down the charm. I took a breath and made my way over to Chip.
"Hi." I said.
"Hi. Good game."
"Thanks."
"So your in for this?" He finally asked.
"Yeah. I am." I smiled at him and he smiled back.
"Let's go then."
"Maybe you should go out first. So Zach doesn't see us together." I glanced back at Zach and the girls. They looked bored. I would end this for them now. I stepped halfway out the door then shouted.
"Thanks girls! Bye Zach!" Then stepped next to Chip outside. We walked to the car in silence but it was comfortable. When we got in the car his phone started ringing. I knew exactly who it was without even asking.
"Dude I left." He winked at me. "I called your name three times. You were two busy chatting up those two girls. Well the other guys are still there get a ride with one of them. No dude, I'm not trailing back I'm already past the tracks. Just get a ride. Bye." He ended the call.
"So," He looked at me and smiled.
"What?" I giggled.
"I'm just still shocked your sititng next to me right now."
"Well is it a good shocked or bad shocked?"
"Definetly good."
The way he said good made me feel good.

"You mean to tell me, that you don't think your good at basketball? At all?" He asked when we were on the last bites of ice cream getting ready to leave our table and head to the car.
"No. I know where my place is and its on that mound."
"You are great at basketball Hannah."
We dumped our empty cups into the trash can and headed out the door.
"I don't know but I have to ask you a very serious question." I said.
"Shoot."
"How does it feel to share the mound with a girl."
"I'm honored to share the mound with as good a pitcher as you. When your out there. I don't look at you as a girl. I look at you as a teammate, a player and a kick butt pitcher. You're a baseball player, whether you're a guy or a girl."
I was actually stunned. No one has ever said something that sincere before. We got tothe drivers side of the car but I stayed where I was .
"You gonna get in?" He asked.
"After this." I said stepping toward him.
"After wha-" He didn't get to finish because I had leaned up and kissed him. His hands slowly wrapped around my waist pulling me closer to him. As much as I never thought it would happen, I was so glad it did. Because that kiss was incredible.
