    Chapter 6
I put my hand over my face to make sure that Andrew didnt see me.
"What is he doing here?" I asked. I was panicking.
"Probably getting drunk." Danielle said back. The waitress came back to our table.
"Hi girls. Im Hannah. I'll be your waitress. Can I get you girls something to drink?" She asked. Hannah was a very pretty girl. She had light blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She wore tons of makeup though.
"Sure, I'll have a water." I said. Hannah looked at me weird.
"Alright. And how about you?" She said to Danielle.
"Um can I have a small beer?" Danielle asked. I was surprised. I didnt know that she drank.
"Sure thing dolls. Back in a jiff." Hannah said, and with a turn of her heel she was gone.
"What am I going to do about Andrew?" I asked. I put the menu next to my face so he couldnt see us.
"Nothing. Let him know that youre having fun without him." Danielle went back to reading the menu.
"Okay." I opened up my menu and began to look through it.
"Here you go ladies." Hannah put our drinks down next to us. "Can I get you some food?" She asked kindly. She took out her pen and paper.
"Nothing for me, thank you." I said to her. She raised her eyebrows.
"Okay. Anything for you miss?" Hannah asked Danielle.
"Yes, can I get Bert's Best Salad. No onions or tomatoes please." Hannah took our menus.
"Sure thing." She said, and walked away to put in the orders. All the sudden Andrew and his friends spotted me and Danielle.
"Hey Andrew, look. Isnt that your ex?" Said one of the guys. I didnt recognize him, but he was pretty cute. He had curly brown hair. And not the afro kind either, it was controlled.
"Yes." Andrew dropped his drink, and came over to us. I opened my eyes widely at Danielle. She nodded.
"Mia, babe, how you doin?" Andrew came down and sat next to us. His breath smelled like beer, and I could tell her was drunk.
"Nothing. Get away from me." I tried to push him out of his seat. The guys started ooing.
"Dont tell Andrew what to do." He put his arm around me, and I pushed it away. I looked at Danielle screaming in my mind. She nodded again.
"Andrew, get away from us. Obviously Mia doesnt like you, and doesnt want to be with you. So get your disgusting self away from us. She is not interested." And with that Andrew went back to his table and began to drink some more.
Sorry that I didnt get to write that much today. I was out all day! And make sure to tell your friends about my story! Hope you like them. Any feedback? Lemme know(: Love you girls!

    Chapter 5
Danielle and I drove about 15 minutes. We were driving to the boardwalk to see if we could find any good restaurants. It was 7, which meant all the hotties were starting to come out.
"Mi, if you see any guy at all that you think is pretty cute, tell me." Danielle said. She linked arms with me real quick, and then unlinked them.
"Alrighty." I said smiling. We walked a few miles up the boardwalk. We passed a small, dark room. It played loud music, like when you walked into Hollister or Abercrombie.
"Hey Mia, what about here?" Danielle squeezed my arm. I stopped looking. The outside said Bert's Burgers.
"Sure." I said. We walked in together. It was a very crowded and kind of gross place. And to be honest, I didnt see one burger in the whole restaurant. If it even was a restaurant. All i saw was beer, beer, and more beer. "Eh Dan, should we go to a different place?" I asked. All the sudden this drunk man came up to me and started to lean on me. I screamed, and he got off. "Yeah Danielle. Im leaving." I said turning around.
"No come on Mia. It looks.....fun." Danielle said. She is the type of girl that has done everything you could ever imagine. So this place didnt scare her. Me, on the other hand, have only had one boyfriend my entire life. Its not that I dont want boyfriends, I just want them to be special, not daily.
    "Fine." I said.
"How many?" I waitress asked. She was barely wearing anything at all. She had a small shirt on that barely covered her boobs, short shorts on, and high heels.
"Two." Danielle said. She quickly grabbed my hand.
"Okay ladies follow me." The waitress guided us to our table. As soon as I sat down, a guy caught my attention. He was really cute. He was too far away, and I couldnt get a closer look at him.
"Dan, look at that guy over there. He's cute." I said. Danielle squeeled and looked to where I was pointing. He smile faded into a line.
"Mia, look at him closely." Danielle said. I looked at him more closely.
"Oh crap." I said softly. The cutie was Andrew, my ex.
Hi! So some people are actually reading my story(: Thank you! Tell me what you think so far! More to come, maybe not tonight, but hopefully tomorrow! Love you all

    Chapter 4
"Mia!!!!" Danielle screamed. She began to knock on my bathroom door. I loved Danielle, I mean I really did. The annoying thing about her was that she is very impatient.
"Hold on!" I screamed. I turned the water off from the warm shower. I took really long showers. I only do because I hate the feeling of getting out of them. When Im in the shower its as though all of my problems wash off of me and go down the drain. I grabbed the white towel that I felt out and wrapped it around myself. I cracked the door a little bit. "Whats up?" I asked. Danielle had a mad expression on her face.
"You have been in the shower for 45 freakin mintues Mia. God, what do you do in there?" She asked. She sat down on my bed. I shut the door so I could dry my whole body off.
"Nothing. I take longer showers." I said back. I grabbed another towel and wrapped it around my hair to get all the water out.
"What are you wearing tonight?' Danielle asked. I stepped out of the bathroom all wrapped up in towels, and went over to the closet where Danielle was standing.
"Eh I dont know. I mean if we're going guy hunting I wanna look hot." I said. I was looking through all my clothes. Nothing I liked.
"What about this?" Danielle asked holding up the black dress with the red and pink flower in the middle. She threw it at me, and I went to the bathroom to try it on.
"Perfect." I said from inside the bathroom. I came out with my hair still damp. I looked through all my underwear and I couldnt find any thongs. I was sure I packed some. "Danielle! Do you have any extra thongs with you?" I asked. She smiled and went back to her room. A second later she came back with one in her hand. I slipped it on.
"What would I do without you?" I asked.
"Nothing." She replied back. We both went back into the bathroom this time. She started to blow-dry my light brown hair. I started putting on my makeup. I loved the way I did my makeup and always got compliments on it. After she finished drying my hair, she curled it. "There. Finished." Danielle said. We both stepped back to examine ourselves. Danielle was wearing a plain black romper, with her hair straight.
"Lets go." I said back. We turned off all the lights and made sure that nothing was still plugged into the walls. And headed off to dinner.
Hey! Okay so I dont think anyone is actually reading this. So I may stop after this chapter. :( Im really sad cause I liked this story, and I had ideas to make it good. But, I didnt want to waste my time on it, if no one was reading it. So yeah. :(

    Chapter 3
We walked into the house. I was running into walls because my suitcase was huge.
"Mia, this room can be yours. And my room is just across the hall." We both entered our rooms. It was a pretty big room. It had light green walls with a light pink and green bed spread. It had a dresser with a TV on top and another dresser with a mirror. And there was one huge closet. I opened another door across from the bed. It was a bathroom. But, there was another door connected to it. So i opened it. Danielles room was on the other side.
"Oh hey Danielle. I was confused to where this led to." I sat down on her bed. She was unfolding all of her clothes and hanging them up.
"Oh well you found out." She laughed and then continued to hang everything back up.
"Yeah. Well, Im going to finished unpacking. I said to her.
"Okay. Oh and I was thinking we could go to dinner, and then come back here and go on the boardwalk." Danielle said. She held up a yellow, strapless shirt, examined it, and hung it up.
"Okay. Sounds like a plan. Just let me get unpacked first." I said.
"Alright. Just dont take as long as it took you to pack." Danielle said back to me. She smiled. I laughed. I walked back to my room. I opened the white closet doors, and found a bunch of hangers already on the rack, and I began to hang all of my clothes up.
Hi everyone! I dont think that anyone is reading my stories. Because no one commented of fave or anything. Chapter 2
"Hey Danni, how much longer until we get there?" I asked Danielle. We have been driving since noon, and it was already 4.
"Um about an hour." She said back. I groaned a little bit. But, once we actually got there, I know it would be worth the wait. "Mia, are you ready to go guy hunting on the boardwalk tonight?" Danielle asked as she raised her eyebrows. I laughed.
"No way. Not with what I look like now." I said back. I felt my phone vibrate and took it out. My ex, Andrew was texting me. I groaned.
"Honey, we'll get you all dolled up. Dont worry." She said back. I groaned again."What?" She asked me.
"Andrew keeps texting me." Said back. I put my feet up on her dashboard, and put my sunglasses over my eyes.
"What does he want? Doesnt he know that you are over him?" She asked making a disgusted face.
"He said that he is really sorry for what he did, and wants me back." I said. Andrew was my first boyfriend, and we dated for two years. I was totally in love with him. Until one day. I was with Danielle one day after school. And we went online and found a picture of him kissing another girl. I asked him why, and he said that he wasnt thinking and it just happened. I never forgave him ever since.
"He should. I told him I would never give him a second chance." I stuck my earbuds into my ipod and put one of them in my ear, so I could still talk to Danielle.
"Good for you. Oh hey, look at the sign." Danielle pointed to a big green sign. It read WELCOME TO NEW ROCKY BEACH. I screamed.
"Yes!" I screamed. I was so excited to be here. After about 20 minutes of driving we pulled up infront of the house. It was huge. 3 stories and it had its own pool in the back. As soon as she parked the car, I got out, and breathed in the ocean air.
Hello girls! Hope you like the story so far, well if you are reading it. Tell your friends. I want to know how Im doing so far. And if you have any suggestions just tell me(: thanks! i love you all<3

    Chapter 1
"The first day of summer and it's already raining," My best friend Danielle said to me. We were up in my room, and I was packing for the best summer ever. Danielle and I have been planning this trip since we were 10. Now we're 17. So, you can see we have been planning this for some time now.
"I know Dan, but dont worry. Once we get to the beach Im sure everything will get better," I said back. She sat down on my light blue comforter and began looking through her phone. She took a piece of gum out of her brown purse and popped it in her mouth.
"Want a piece?" She asked holding a piece to me.
"No thanks. What do you think of this dress?" I asked. It was black and had one pink and red flower in the middle.
"Its cute. Bring it." Danielle said back. I laughed and just threw it in my suitcase.
"How much did you pack?" I asked. She popped her gum.
"Like my whole closet. Mia, we're staying for like 3 months." She said back.
"I know I was just wondering." I took a pile of clothes and started to stuff them in my suitcase. I would wash them later.
"Are you almost ready? Im dying to get out of here." Danielle whined. Her stuff was already packed in the car.
"Yeah. Im pretty much done. Let me just grab a few more things." I said as I started into my bathroom. I grabbed my toothbrush, my brush, razor, toothpaste, and a new box of tampons. "Alright now Im ready." I said stuffing everything into my bag. It looked like it was about to explode.
"Alrighty then. Lets get out of here!" Danielle yelled. We ran out into her new car that she got for her birthday. We turned on the radio and turned up Look At Me Now as high at it would go.

"Can we PLEASE stop at my house before going? You know how much I like Andrew and I NEED to get ready." I begged Katie. "Fine, make it fast! I'll give you five minutes," she replied. "ugh." I came back out with my favorite pink cheetah bikini with a white sundress over, my hair was straightened and I had my aviator sunglasses on. I was sure to blow him away.
" Katie, wait! I'm nerv-" As I was interupted by Nick opening the door. "Hey guys! Were in the hot tub already," Katie hit my side. We walked into the back and I first spotted Andrew, his flippy brown hair with blueish greenish eyes that sparkled in the sun...I could just- "JUNIE!" And I was awaken from my daydream, "Andrew's saying hi!" "Oh hey Andrew." Anthony pulled me to the side of the house. "I don't know if Katie's in, but your playing truth or dare with us later right? Good" he winked at me and left before giving me a chance to respond...crap, what was that all about?

"Ashlee! Hey!" Brandie smiled as she waved my Dad goodbye. "Wait, where's your dress? No makeup either?! Come on, I hope you took the hint. I GOT YOU A DATE WITH CEDRICK! Now who's the bestest friend ever?" she smiled brightly.
Certainly not you, I thought. I sighed and took a deep breath. "Brandie. You know me enough to know that I don't do dates. Heck, I don't even do boys without being dumped by the end of the day. They just don't work, okay? I'm not pretty enough, slutty enough, or good enough for boys. I get it. So, don't bother setting me up with a guy who will just look past me." I puffed and sat down on her foyer floor, out of breath.
""Ash, you're so dramatic. You're beautiful, really. Have you seen your hair? It's so straight, I'd die for it. And, look, your eyes!" She pulled me up and pushed me into her washroom. "Look at their color! It's like a brown and green woods with a HUGE amber light in between. It's crazy. And, I mean, look. Just look. You can't call a face like yours ugly."
And so I looked. I stared at every inch of me in Brandie's full body mirror inside her enormus posh bathroom. All I could see was the wrongs. The short height, the overly skinny arms, the disproportionate face. Beautiful? No, far from it. Cedrick was handsome. I mean, maybe not his personality, I wouldn't know. But he was a damn beautiful boy. I just couldn't compare.
"You know what, Brandie?" I turned to face her perfect smile. "I'm no model, but I certainly am me. Let's find me something to wear." I strutted confidently out of her washroom, and up the stairs towards her room. Brandie ran behind, catching her breath when I finally reach her rooms' door.
:Woah, what came over you?" she panted, her eyebrows forming a questionable look.
    "Nothing. Just, let's get ready."
Brandie already picked out my dress. I took in it's cute form fitting bodice and flowy floral yellow pattern. She smiled as I took the whole thing is.
"It even matches your stupid shoes." she laughed.
I looked down, glancing at my worn out Ked's, the ones with the yellow laces and white canvas, and smiled. Brandie did care - about fashion anyway. I turned to go put it on, and in a flash, Brandie was all perfect and ready. She suited a hot pink summer dress with a midnight black lace belt hugging her perfect curves, pairing it all up with sequined black flats. A Brandie must.
"You like?" She smiled deviously, throwing her hair behind her shoulders.
"Thanks for completley upping me!" I laughed, nervously. "Just kidding, Dee." I added quickly. I didn't want her to go all speach mode about how I looked perfectly fine myself. I looked into the mirror again. Fixing my emo-style bangs and long, straight, belly-button lenght hair before taking another deep breath - probably my tenth in the hour.
"Ugh, don't make me start!" she eyed me. "I'm watching you." she pointed 2 fingers and her eyes than one back at me.
"I got it, Dee. Let's go."

4 ~ butterflys? more like bombs.
After riding in Brandie's older sister's worn out car, I learned that Brandie's date, which she "forgot" to mention was Cedrick's best friend. Probably the only way she could get me a date with him.
"Woah, Ashlee. Are you okay? You look terrified. You alright?" Brandie's practically identical older sister asked me with a minorly worried face.
"Yeah, I'm great." I faked a quick smile and stepped out of the parked car, and waited for Brandie to fix her hair and makeup in the front seat mirror.
"Almost done, Brandie?" I said impatiently. I didn't even know where we were exactly, but I recognized it as a mall, with a huge Target and it looked extremly modern and fresh. It was to my liking. I studied the buildings crazy floor to ceiling glass walls and the rush of busy shoppers around it, but I couldn't really take it all in.
I was thinking about Cedrick again. I mean, I hardly know him anyway. Why am I freaking out, even in the slightest? I mean, I can't possibly have a chance, so I just sighed and prepared myself for the worst. Finally, Brandie glamourisly jumped out of the car and smoothed out the creases in her dress.
    "Ready?" she smiled eagerly.
I frowned, "If about-to-sh●t-myself is considered ready, then yes. I am so utterly ready for this." and began bouncing around. Something I embarassingly do when I'm nervous.
"Calm down, you'll be fine," Brandie began "oh, bye Carrie!" she waved at her sister's car, as it drove off into the traffic.
"Whatever. So, what are we doing at a mall, anyway?" I asked as we walked toward the entrance, barley dodging oncoming cars, and managing to get a finger pointed our way.
"Because," Brandie panted, continueusly looking down at her shoes, worrying about them no doubt. "this is the best place we could chill and have special moments in, you know?" she winked.
"Fine, but where are we meeting up with them anyway?" I wondered, pondering the thought of a scary awkward encounter.
"At that Smoothie Place in the food court." she replied.
"Oh. Well, how far is that, anyway?" I asked, as we stepped through the large automatic doors into complete Saturday mall chaos.
"Uhm..." Brandie slid through crying children and slow senior shoppers before finally coming back to see me."It's in section A. So, that way." She pointed right, and started marching along with me. Out of my dress pocket I pulled out my phone.
"It's already 2:30. When were we supposed to meet them?" I asked panically.
"Right now. Between 2:30 and 3:00. Don't worry so much, you'll be fine." she assured and kept ushering me faster. "I'm so excited, aren't you?! Wait, don't answer. I don't want your mopey replies to bring me down." she giggled.
"Well, what is this kid's name, anyway?" I looked at her cautiously. "Uhm, it's... Ryan. No... wait... it's uhm..." she twisted her lips in confusion.
"Really, Dee? You don't even know his name?"
"Shut up! I do know... it's... it's... OH! Blake. That's it." she smiled proudly to me, as we passed endless stores.
"I hope it is..." I murmered, and quickly ran towards a mall map. "Okay, we're almost there. Just past the Apple Store, and they should be right around the corner." I started breathing heavily again.
"Awesome! Let's go faster! Come on!"
I sighed, but followed Brandie faster and faster until we reached the food court. My heart renched.
    I should've given up.

    5 ~ easiest rejection.
How on earth could one boy look so damn effortlessly good? He was just... beautiful. His black hair shiny and wavy, just enough to look fantastic. And then his eyes, his steel blue eyes that sent shivers down my spine stared at me in wonder, then at Brandie in interest. Of course, point 1 for Brandie. He smiled smoothly, then came up with his friend Blake. Blake was a perfect match for Brandie, it was just, surprising. Just by taking a look at them together, it was perfect. No doubt, he was a very handsome boy, with deep brown eyes and a very swooped Bieber cut, but with a mature face... which suited him. And it suited Brandie's boy hunger. It was like she was starving for days and finally got a huge turkey feast - Blake. I swear, she was about to drool all over him until I finally broke the damn silence.
"Uh, hey. I'm Ashlee..." I smiled awkwardly then looked at Brandie, who was drowning in thought. "...and uh, this is Brandie, which I guess you know, Blake." I smiled in my friendliest way possible.
"Yeah, we've met... Oh, and Ashlee, Brandie, this is Cedrick." he waved his hand in Cedrick's direction and put it down like he was nothing. I smiled.
"Hi!" Brandie smiled her megawatt smile and gave him her usual hot boy look.
"Hey..." he replied slyly, raising his perfectly bushy but not unibrowed eyebrows in a sexy way. I raged. What, 2 mintues within meeting the kid and he's already wanting Brandie? I could believe it, but I just didn't want to. Suddenly Brandie nudged me.
"And, yeah, like I said before, I'm Ashlee..." I smiled awkwardly again. Yeah, I just couldn't get my sexy looks on when he already seemed to be onto Brandie.
"Yeah, I heard. You already said that." he scowled.
"I-I know." I managed to add, but he was already back onto Brandie. I tried to push back the tears in my eyes.
"So, where to?" Blake asked, looking at all of us.
"Let's eat. I need something." she said, grabbing Blake's hoodie and Cedrick's plaid shirt and laughing as she drags them to the McDonald's. I trailed behind, already broken but not giving up.
It was time to beat out my best friend.

"Okay, Ash. What are you going to get?" Brandie looks over, and so do Blake and Cedrick. Jeez, I never knew how pressured picking an order at McDonald's could be until now.
"Uhm, quarter pounder no cheese." I said, looking at the menu above the cash "You guys?" I replied quickly, so the silence didn't cover us.
    "Salad." Brandie said almost automatically.
"Uhm, I'll get a Big Mac..." Blake said, looking at Brandie awkwardly. He probably thought she was a vegetarian.
"I'll get fries." Cedrick said. No food? Impresses Brandie, but she still couldn;t stop looking at Blake. I looked over and saw a group of teens leaving a table for four. Perfect.
"I'll get some seats..." I said, to whoever was listening, and turned to sit down before anyone else did. I heard someone behind me and turned. It was Blake.
"Oh, hey." I said, sitting down and taking my coat off.
"Uhm... hi. Ashlee, right? I mean, I-I heard it. Just making sure." He mumbled nervously.
"Yup, that's me. And you're Blake, right?" I smiled. Hey, better get friendly with Brandie's new boyfriend #1.
He hummed a yes, and turned away shyly, flipping his hair out of his eyes. I turned away awkwardly, too. I broke another consequetive silence.
"I think we should help them bring all the food." I laughed as Brandie struggled with a bag.
    "Yeah." he chuckled, let's go.

"I like your sense of style, Brandie," Cedrick added to his huge list of compliments that he said in the past 10 minutes.
"Oh, please. Stop. Really." Brandie smiled, but turned to me and gave a quick look. Yeah, she was dying. But i was enjoying myself. She finally got all the attention she wanted... except she didn't want it so intesnley. I'm pretty sure, in his seat, Cedrick was having some crazy fantasy about Brandie. His eyes were so intensley sensual, it was really awkward to look at him. And I never did.
But before things could get anymore creepy, it did.
"Dee, you want to go help me find a vending machine?" Cedrick said, eyebrows raised in potential sexiness. I looked at Brandie, but she didn't even look up. She couldn't tell that going to find a drink meant make-out session in Cedrick's ways. Yet, I knew she'd be okay. I said a quick "see you later." and checked my empty phone before feeling a stare on me.
Blake was staring at me the same way Cedrick was starting at Brandie. Crap. I thought. I smiled and looked down at my phone, texting Brandie, asking if she was there or not. After about 50 tries, no answer. I sighed, and looked up to still find Blake staring at me.
"So, uhm, want to go outside?" Blake asked shyly "I mean, if you want to." he smiled so awkwardly it was hard to say no, when he looked so damn hopeful.
"Sure." I grabbed my phone and put it into my bag. "Yes!" I screamed. There was a pair of jean shorts and a baggy longsleeve sweater in the bag. I must've thought I'd need them.
"Just wait here. I'm going to go change into, well, yeah..." I said and speeded off toward a bathroom, passing the vending machines. Brandie and Cedrick nowhere to be seen. Of course.
I found my way out of the washroom to find Blake waiting for me, already there, smiling. "Oh... you could've waited back at the McDicks, you know?" I stated, kind of boldly.
"Yeah, but I didn't want to make you walk all the way back there. Let's go." He smiled and grabbed my hand.
Well, this is awkward. I couldn't help thinking the entire time. The exit outside never felt so long in my life. Suddenly, Blake looked down towards his phone. I didn't say anything, I didn't really want to know about all the people he was texting, so I let go of his hand.
"I'll meet you outside, okay?" I assured, and ran towards the exit.
I really had to find Brandie. We were all falling for the wrong people.

    Chapter 1
"Who here has ever been in love?"
My teacher, Mr. Mason asked the whole Grade 8 class this morning in homeroom. But I couldn't stop thinking about it. I mean, practically the entire class (though blushing) raised their hands. Except me.
"Ashlee, you must of been in love once, at least." They all said.
But it was true, I've never been. Being only thirteen, did I honestly have to be in love? Was it ruled that as soon as you became a teenager, you MUST have fallen in love? I didn't think so.
"Let's find you someone to love!" my supposedly 'best friend' Brandie had said after that embarrassing discussion was done.
"Of course, because falling in love is easy." I had told her. Her face was disapproving, but I just ignored it.
"It should be, now let's go find you someone." she smiled, and waited for the bell.
"He's cute! OH MY GOSH, what about him? Actually, I'd save him for me..."
"Brandie, please shut up and stop. Please. " I whispered.
Walking through my school's hallways were hard enough without Brandie stalking boys out for me.
She shook my shoulders, and yelled "Ashlee Keesling, I am finding you someone to love, whether you like it or NOT!"
"BRANDIE EVANS, " I exclaimed "PLEASE, THE RIGHT GUY WILL COME."
And to my surprise, he did. Right then. It wasn't like a movie, but somehow slow-motion was taking place, and I felt my cheeks burn hot red.
"Ash? You oka- Oh. So, you're looking more in the Cedrick direction. Maybe that's a little too much for you... Now, oh look! There's Danny,he's pretty cute, huh?"
I heard her, but I just couldn't respond. That boy literally took my breath away. Wavy jet onyx hair flowed to his ears, and his steel blue eyes looked at my curiously. My head snapped back into focus.
    "Ash...?"
    "Oh, yeah Brandie, sorry. "
Her golden blonde eyebrows scrunched over her green eyes. I mean, she was gorgeous. I was completely jealous, but I just looked at her with just as much wonder, anyway.
"You like Cedrick, don't you?" she smiled her megawatt smile. " Aww that's so cute! But he's totally out of you're league."
As I said before, Brandie was "supposedly" my best friend. I frowned.
    "No." I quickly replayed.
"Uh, yes, you do. Completely smitten."
"Aha, no." I rolled my eyes.
    "Fine."
"Uh," I blushed " is he new here?"
"Yeah, I don't know where he came from, though..." she looked at me again. "Ah, you so love him."
"No, I don't!" I said, for the last time that day.
    But that was a lie.
    I totally did.

2 ~ dating, the "blind" way
"Is Tim Horton's good for breakfast?" My Dad called from the kitchen.
"Sure. Small Hot Chocolate and a chocolate dougnut, please." I shouted back.
I flipped through my newest issue of Seventeen absentmindedly. It was a Saturday morning, just past 11, and the first thing on my mind when I woke up was Cedrick. I mean, really? So, he was cute. I needed for than that. But I guess my heart had enough. Just then, I heard my phone ring. Marry You by Bruno Mars blasted through my iPhone, the one that took me two years worth of saving up to afford.
    I checked the caller ID.
    Brandie.
"Hi Brandie." I said quietly, wondering what she wanted.
"You, Ashlee, are going on a double date with me, today." she whispered, giggleing.
I was scared to answer. "Uh, hold on Brandie..." I quickly said, covering the speaker.
    "Dad?" I called.
    No answer.
"Okay, my Dad's on a Timmy's run and I need to ask you something. Why? When? Who?!" I screamed.
"Look, all I need you to do is find a dress and be at my house by 5:30. I'll explain the rest there. Gotta go!"
    "Wait! Ugh."
The line went dead. I was freaking out. First of all, I didn't know who was going to be there, and I didn't even know if I was allowed to date. A nauseous feeling pounded my stomach. God, I really hated Brandie sometimes. I heard the door open.
    "Dad?" I called. "You home?"
"Yup, and I got Timmy's!" he smiled, his Portuguese face smiling bright.
He smiled like he did when Mom was alive. That bright, cheery, morning smile. God, how I missed that. Maybe he was happy enough for a conversation. About dating.
He walked past me in the foyer, straight into the kitchen; stainless steel appliances, dark java cabinets and granite countertops passed me by as I sat at the island in my kitchen, right with the sun warming me gently.
"Here, " my Dad slammed down the cup and brown bag in front of me. " is your meal."
    I smiled lightly. "Thanks, Dad."
He sat down, and looked up at me with his dark brown eyes.
"...So, Dad. What's on your mind?" I asked, cautiously.
"Well, I was gonna ask you the same thing." He chuckled.
"Oh. I mean... Dad, when did you uh start, you know... dating?" I blushed, and immediatley took a scoldingly hot drink of cocoa.
"Well, um... I was about your age, I suppose. Maybe younger... maybe older, I forget." He replied calmly.
"Well, then, can I?" I gulped.
"Yes, I guess so..." he chuckled again, and looked up at me. "You're so mature. Like your mother was."
    He smiled, teary eyed.
"How about I drop you off at Brandie's now? I overheard your phone conversation. I already had the Tim Horton's in the car."
"Yeah, Dad. Drop me off." I said, worried.
    I was going to cry.
    I needed out.
    I needed my Mom.
