    Gabe's POV
"So, how's your mid-winter break going? I heard you're a model now." Erica said, scooting closer to Gabe on the couch. He didn't really notice.
"Uh, yeah. Well, kind of." Gabe said. He glanced at his watch.
"Do you have somewhere to be?" Erica asked, scooting as close as she could to Gabe and putting her arm around him.
"Actually, yes." Gabe says. He stands up and gathers up all the papers.
"Excuse me?" Erica says. She puts her hand on her hip and raises an eyebrow, but none of that really effects Gabe.
    "What?"
"Gabe, that was the part where you say 'no, no' and you cancel whatever other stupid plans you have while I head off to the bathroom. Duh." Erica says. She looks at Gabe with her ice blue eyes and waits for a response.
"Well, Erica, the truth is, I met this girl. Her name is Becca, and I really like her. And I don't want to blow it. Because for once, I'm not going for a girl I know I could get, I'm going for one that will be amazing to be around if I get her. And that makes a huge difference. Because I can't sit here on my couch with you and stand her up knowing that it could be her on the couch with me. That would just kill me." Gabe says. He hadn't expected his speech to be so long and he caught himself off guard. But, Erica seemed to understand.
Her expression softened, her eyes got calm, and her body relaxed.
"Oh. Well you must really like Becca if you're willing to give up a sure thing for something that might not even happen."
And with that, Erica left. Gabe stood there for a moment, stunned that Erica was so nice about it, but then sprang into action.

    Becca's POV
Toby and Becca walked around downtown together, holding hands. They went into some stores and found one that had small things Toby could buy with his own money.
Toby bought a button that said "LGBT" and a cow shaped eraser.
Becca bought a button to match Toby's.
"You know what this stands for, right, Toby?" Becca asked. Toby nodded.
"Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered." Toby said proudly, pinning his button onto his shirt.
"High five, little man." Becca said. Toby didn't give her a high-five, but instead, gave her a huge hug.
Toby and Becca walked into Urban Outfitters.
"Beck, why are we here?" Toby asked. He looked around at all the teenagers and squeezed Becca's hand.
"I have to find something to wear when I hang out with Gabe." Becca explained, scanning the store.
"What's wrong with the clothes you already have?" Toby asked. He looked so confused.
"Toby, those aren't date-with-Gabe-worthy clothes. They're all from the stores in the mall. I need something he hasn't seen in the window while he walks to work." Becca said. She held up a dress to her body and frowned at her reflection in a nearby mirror.
"So, you want to impress Gabe?" Toby asked.
    "Exactly."
"Try this one on. And get some jeans to go with it." Toby said. He followed Becca to the fitting room in the back and sat down in a chair. Becca shut the curtain and changed into Toby's outfit choice.
"Okay, Bee, what do you think?" Becca asked, opening the curtain and walking out to show Toby.
"I like it! You look pretty." Toby said. And surprisingly, Becca thought the same thing.

    Gabe's POV
"Gabe get down here!" Mel called to Gabe. Gabe was in his room on the second level of his family's condo.
"What?" Gabe called down the stairs. He was working out and he hated to be interrupted.
"Some girl is here for you." Mel said. Her voice sounded extremely happy, as if she were excited that Gabe had a visitor. Gretchen had gone home an hour earlier and Gabe needed to work out before his date with Becca.
"Gabe. Seriously. Don't leave her waiting in the living room forever while you change clothes or whatever." Mel said.
Gabe decided a shirt wasn't important and ran down the stairs, only to run into Erica Tanner. He and Erica were both attracted to each other. Gabe had forgotten all about their study date when he met Becca.
"Erica, you're here. And a bit early... Let me just... Mel, keep her company." Gabe dashed up the stairs and into the bathroom. He whipped out his phone and called Becca he closed the door and put it on speaker phone." Gabe often sang anytime he was in the bathroom. His awful singing voice sounded pretty decent in there and it always relaxed him. He grabbed a washcloth and washed his stomach and chest.
    Becca answered the phone.
    "Hello?"
"Hey, Becca, I just want you to know that I might be a few minutes late picking you up. I forgot that I promised a friend I'd help them study today." Gabe said into the air. Even his normal speaking voice sounded great in the bathroom. Gabe wet his face and gelled his hair.
"That's cool. I'm always running late anyway." Becca giggled. Gabe let out a silent breath of relief.
"Good. See you in a while."
"Okay. Bye." The line went dead.
"See you in a while? I'm such an idiot..." Gabe mumbled to himself, walking back into his room.
"Yeah you are." Mel said from his bed.
"Mel! Get out of my- wait, you're supposed to be downstairs with Erica." Gabe said.
"Well, I just thought she might like to see your room." Mel said with fake innocence in her voice. Gabe stepped further into his room to see Erica scanning the books on his bookshelf.
    Erica gave a small wave.
"If you don't mind, I'm just going to change, so..." Gabe said. Mel got up and walked out, but Erica just turned away and covered her eyes.
When she didn't hear him move, she said, "Don't worry, I won't peek. I swear."
Gabe shrugged and slipped off his basketball shorts, trading them for a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
    "Okay. Let's go study."

Becca fell asleep texting Gabe. They'd planned to meet up the next day. Becca had just moved over mid-winter break, and she was starting school on Monday.
Gabe didn't care that Becca fell asleep on him because he was pretty tired too. Gabe fell asleep thinking of Becca and her gorgeous brown eyes.
Becca woke up to the soft hum of morning cartoons. They whispered into her ears with loud cartoon noises.
Gabe woke up to the smell of coffee and the sound of giggling girls. He slid out of bed, only to step on something sticky. He looked down at his feet. They were standing in a huge puddle of maple syrup. He could hear Melanie and Gretchen laughing outside his door.
"Good morning Mel. Gretchen." Gabe says opening his door. He walks into the kitchen and takes a seat at the table. Krista is already there and reading her never-ending book.
"Morning, Gabe." Krista says without looking up.
Melanie and Gretchen sit down across from Gabe and Krista at the table, giggling.
"Do you ever stop laughing?" Gabe asks. He says it without a distinct tone. Melanie rolls her eyes.
"Gabriel, what is on your feet, and why is it tracking into my kitchen?!"
"Why don't you ask Mel and Gretchen?"
    "Mel?"
    "Sorry, Mom."

Becca and Caroline fought over the curling iron, as always, and Becca ended up combing and brushing it and then throwing it up into a bun. Becca wore her employee-discount sweatpants and no make up. It was a Saturday morning after all. She didn't have any plans until that night. She sat back with her bowl of cereal and watched cartoons with her little brother.
"Toby, why'd you change the channel?" Becca asked, looking up from her bowl of cereal at the news instead of cartoons.
"John's going to be on. Talking about his work with those kids from that high school across from the neighborhood Holly lives in." Toby said. He smiled. He looked so excited.
"Of course he's going to be on t.v. I mean, he's PERFECT right?" Caroline said from her seat. She stood up and ran up the stairs to her room.

Becca and Gabe text each other that day. Gretchen comes over to Gabe's house and tries to flirt with him, as always. Becca and Toby play cards and watch movies together all afternoon until dinner.
At Gabe's house, Gretchen is sleeping over.
They have salmon and rice with vegetables for dinner and they all make small talk between bites. Melanie, Gabe's Justin Bieber obsessed younger sister and Gretchen talk about school. Liam, his older brother, and Krista, his older sister, chat about Liam coming to Krista's college next year. Gabe's parents talk about the president and the economy. And Gabe is perfectly happy texting Becca under the table and eating. But, then Gretchen starts up a conversation with him.
"So, Gabe, you're a Hollister model now? I thought you just worked in the Hollister at the mall."
    "I do both now."
"Did you meet any new models?"
    "Just one."
    "Named?"
    "Becca."
    "Oh."
And that was the end of that conversation. Gretchen looked a little hurt from then on. She seemed kind of distressed, as if she couldn't quite understand why Gabe didn't love her.
At Becca's house, it was just a normal family dinner.
"Toby, how was your day?" John asked. Toby nodded and smiled, macaroni and cheese in his full mouth.
"How about you, Becca? How was your day?"
    "Fine."
    "Caroline, how was your day?"
"Lovely, actually. I found a ten dollar bill on the sidewalk. Nobody was looking for it, so I gave it to a guy begging for money. I got my tenth punch on my smoothie card, so next time, I get a free one. And, I finished my college applications. But, of course, that's nothing compared to the life of the underage Hollister model."
"Hey! I'm not getting any money for that. This a modeling internship, which means I do modeling for future ads. And I get to work on the real photo shoots. You know none of the kids in out program are old enough to be models yet. We're all seventeen." Becca said. She tried to downplay the job as much as possible, but it was a great gig.
Caroline bought it about as much as Becca did.

Becca and her mom drove home with the milk John asked for. Becca turned on the radio and thought about Gabe. What would John think? What would he say? He'd only been her step-dad for a few months and he still wasn't used to being a dad. Becca and her little brother, Toby, were both really inviting of John, but, their older sister Caroline didn't like him. She said he was trying to replace their real dad, who happened to be overseas in China.
"Becca, could you turn that off and make a call for me?"
"Um, sure Mom." Becca said. She turned off the radio and whipped out her phone.
"Call Caroline and ask her if she's home."
"I already know she is. She texted me a few minutes ago saying she just got home." Becca said. Becca's mom looked relieved and Becca turned back on the radio.
"How'd the photo shoot go, Beckster?" Toby asked, snuggling with Becca on the couch in the living room. The whole family was having family movie night. They were watching Source Code.
"It was great. I wore a swimsuit with ruffles." Becca whispered into Toby's little ears. Toby was only seven, but he was extremely mature for his age.
"Did you meet a boy?" Caroline asked. Toby started to play with Becca's hair.
"No. Why would you say that?" Becca asked.
"You're all smile-y and happy." Caroline said. She turned he attention back to the screen just in time to see an explosion.
"Beck, how does a baby get made?" Toby whispered.
"I'd go ask Mom if I were you. She's better at explaining it." Becca said.

Gabe finished up the photo shoot and after getting Becca's number, he started to head home. He hailed a taxi and it took him down to his family's condo. He gave the taxi man some money and slid out of his seat.
The crisp February air stung his cheeks as he walked inside. He took out his key and unlocked the door, welcomed by the smell of tea and cologne.
"Home! Krista? Liam? Dad?" He called into the house. He grabbed an apple from the bowl on the counter and walked into the living room. Krista was snuggled up on an arm chair, reading a book. Liam was watching a movie on mute with the subtitles.
Gabe's dad came jogging down the spiral staircase and strolled into the living room. As always, he held his laptop and a thousand pieces of paper. Gabe took off his coat and put it on the back of a chair.
"How'd it go, Gabe. Krista said they got some great photos of you."
"It went fine." Gabe says, admiring Becca's handwriting on his hand, scrawling the letters of her number across his palm.
"You met a girl?" Liam asks. He raises his eyebrows. Gabe gives a singled nod before biting into his apple.
    "Where's Mom?" Gabe asks.
"Getting Melanie. And Gretchen." Krista says. She flips the page in her book and takes a sip of her tea.
"No!" Gabe says. Gretchen is a 12 year old girl with a huge crush on him. And she's kind of obsessive.

Becca and Gabe started kissing on the floor. Gabe pulled off Becca's shirt and Becca pulled off Gabe's shirt. Gabe kissed Becca's neck and stomach. Becca got a phone call.
"Hello?" She said into her phone, smiling.
"Hey Rebecca. Could you remind your mom to pick up milk on the way home?" Her step-dad John's voice rang through the phone.
"Um, sure, John. Ah! That tickles!" Becca said as Gabe planted a kiss on her stomach.
She covered her mouth. Gabe looked up at her and smiled.
"What tickles?" John asks, suspicion flooding his voice.
"Just a tag in this shirt I'm wearing." Becca said quickly. Gabe gave her a thumbs up.
"Um, John, I have to go now." Becca said into her phone. But she didn't wait for a reply. She hung up and tossed her phone.
She and Gabe were on the floor for at least five minutes before Krista, the photo shoot's supervisor, came bursting through the doors.
"Oh." She said. Her eyes were wide and she almost dropped her clipboard.
"Oh, uh, Krista." Gabe sputtered. He rolled off Becca and they both sat up. Becca grabbed their shirts and tossed Gabe his. They ran out to the shoot.
Krista followed and grabbed Gabe's shoulder.
"Don't get her pregnant. I'm going to duck out early, but I'll see you at dinner, okay?" Gabe nodded in reply and went to assume his position on the stage.

Becca and Gabe finished up the first half of their photo shoot and decided to go grab some coffee together. They walked a couple blocks down and went into a Starbucks.
"So, you just became a model too? You seem so relaxed with it." Becca said. She was amazed at Gabe's confidence.
"Well, I guess I've been used to being under a microscope." Gabe said. He paid for Becca's coffee.
"You didn't have to do that, really." Becca said. She smiled at him as they walked back to the studio.
"So do your friends think it's cool that you're a model?" Gabe asked. He opened the studio door for Becca and followed her inside.
"Well, actually, they don't know. They don't know a lot of things about me." Becca admitted. She and Gabe climbed the steps slowly.
"What else don't they know about you?" Gabe asked. He cracked a smile. Becca shrugged and handed him her coffee. She went in to a backbend and then kicked over and landed in the middle splits. Then, she leaned back and closed her legs in front. Gabe clapped for her by clinking their coffee cups.
"That's very sexy." Gabe says as they walk into the studio.
"Thanks." Becca is ushered away by a woman in a floor-length bright red dress and caked on layers of cheap make-up.
"Hey, you want to meet up again later?" Gabe asks, following Becca into the changing area. He leans against the door to her changing room.
"Sure." Becca calls to him. But, then, to Gabe's surprise, Becca opens the door and pulls him inside, shutting it quickly behind her.

Becca lifted her head and let her blonde hair cascade down her back like a waterfall. She hadn't cut it in years and it now reached the middle of her back. Her eyes shone crystal clear brown in the special photography light. She wasn't the most popular girl, but she had a secret talent. She was like a human pretzel. Her elasticity was astounding, but she never showed anyone. Well, until the day she met Gabe. His short jet-black hair and piercing hazel eyes could stop traffic. His strong jawline and perfectly toned stomach were Hollister catalog-worthy. In fact, that's exactly where she met him.
"Becca, I need you to turn to your left a bit, honey." The photographer said. She pushed glasses back up onto her nose with her index finger and smiled at Becca.
"Perfect. Send in Gabe, please." She called to her crew. Enter Gabe, shirtless and in swim trunks. Becca was used to posing with guys, but she'd never modeled swimsuits before. She was afraid all her bones would poke out if she stood as tall as she could.
Gabe seemed completely at ease with himself, letting his body do all the work.
"I'm Gabe." Gabe said, turning to Becca as the photographer reviewed the pictures.
"I'm Becca." Becca said. She smiled and grabbed a pencil from a nearby table. She put her hair up with it in a few magical movements and then held out her had for Gabe to shake.
