smile for me ♥ Chapter Five: New Girl. ♥ "Hi! You must be Alissa, the new girl," Ally turned around to face the stranger that was apparently talking to her. "Oh hi," Ally forced a smile for the millionth time that day. She was almost positive that she hadn't truly smiled since this morning with Ryan, "Yeah, I am. But you can call me Ally." "Well, hi Ally!" Alissa fought down an urge to cringe away from this loud, not to mention annoying voice, "I'm Melissa!" "Hi," Ally repeated. She wanted nothing more than to get away from Melissa. Melissa opened her mouth to say something, but was instantly interupted. "Hey, um, Ally. Mr. Evans wants to talk to you," a familiar voice said. Ally turned around, recognizing Hailey from my third period, math. "Thanks Hailey," Ally smiled, and allowed herself to be led away away. "Why does he want to talk to me?" she asked. "He doesn't," Hailey answered grinning, "I just thought you might appreciate getting dragged away from her." Ally laughed, "Seriously? Thanks!" she smiled widely. "No problem. Do you want to sit with me at lunch?" Hailey asked kindly. "Yeah, that'd be great," Ally said, feeling thankful and excited. She followed Hailey to the cafeteria, and was immediately introduced to a dozen girls. "Ally, this is Aimee, Kaitlyn, Elena, Blaire, Carlie, Eva, Riley, Lily, and Adrienne," Hailey managed to say in a single breath, "And everyone, this is Ally." Ally would never have remembered what followed in the next few minutes. It was all just a overwhelming whirlwind of girls hugging her, and welcoming her, and claiming her. Alissa forgot most of their names by the time they calmed down. There was just one girl who stood out to her; Adrienne. Adrienne had just sat there, picking at her lunch, occasionally her eyes would dart up with a cold stare. Apparently, Ally wasn't the only one that had noticed. "Hey, Adrienne, are you okay?" a girl Ally vaguely remembered as a Carlie asked. Adrienne's eyes flashed with annoyance before she spat, "Fine," from between her teeth. Alissa blushed furiously, and kept her eyes down. Within minutes of meeting Adrienne, Ally had the distinct idea that she hated her. "I, um, I'll go get something to eat," Alissa said, sliding out from between Carlie and Elena. They smiled to show that they had heard her, and then Alissa walked toward the line that was quickly forming. She was standing there not thirty seconds when she heard another, beautifully familiar voice. * authors note * sorry, i had to cut into two chapters. it was too long. AGAIN/: I know. I'm boring the crap out of you. sorry :(♥ faves and comment are appreciated, but you'll probably skip over it :) I love you, beautiful ♥ ♥

    Chapter Four

She looked shocked, "Oh. Uh, well, th-"
But he didn't hear another letter. All of his attention was focused on the four long scars running along Alissa's arm. She stared at him, confused for a moment as to why his face was suddenly tight and pained. Then she traced his eyes to her arm and hastily pulled the sleeve over her scars. Ryan caught her wrist before she succeeded, but the sleeve now covered up the scars.
"What happened?" Ryan said, his voice deep and low. He sounded as if he was holding himself together, trying his hardest not letting any emotion spill.
Ally laughed, and it sounded more like she was choking. "What do you mean?" she asked innocently.
Ryan's eyes darted to her face before pulling the sleeve of her hoodie up. "I'm serious." he said.
"Ryan, calm down. It's just... my neighbors dog," Alissa said quickly. She internally beat herself up for how stupid she had been. She basically shoved her scars in his face. It was not something she wanted to talk about now. Maybe not ever. She prayed that he would buy her story.
But of course, Ryan's mind was already racing through a million horrible thoughts. "Alissa. What really happened?" Ryan said, trying to keep his voice under control. There was no possible way that those scars were from a dog, particularly a pet. They were still half hidden, meaning that they ran up the length of her upper arm as well. And they were thick long scars. It was painful just to look.
"I - It - Thats - I'm not lying," Alissa stammered. She wished Ryan would let go of her arm. He wasn't hurting her; though it was strong, his grip was gently. But she felt naked, like she was standing in front of him with nothing on. No one had ever seen those scars. Not counting her mom of course.
"Ally, please," Ryan whispered, although he didn't have to. The bus was nearly empty of people. However, Alissa didn't want to tell him the truth. Not after they had just met, and she really liked him. The fact that she could even bear being within five feet of him was a shock itself. Her entire life, she had never been comfortable around any boy. She felt like hiding under her chair whenever she was near them. As if any second they were going to grab her and hurt her, and have their way with her right there. She didn't want Ryan to think she was some wierd, helpless girl. She wanted him to really care and say that he would do anything to protect her, but Alissa knew that that was asking for too much.
"It's nothing," she said fiercely, and while Ryan's grip softened and his eyes widened with some unreadable but hurt emotion, Alissa pulled her arm away and swiftly pulled her sleeve over her scars. Her heart was thudding so loudly in her ears, that she honestly wondered if Ryan could hear it. She closed her eyes, and slowly let out a long breath that she didn't realize she had been holding. She leaned her head against the cold window of the bus, trying to make the relentless pounding in her head stop.
She almost screamed when Ryan's lips where milimeters away from her ear.
"Well, whenever you want to tell me, I'll be there. I promise," he whispered. Ryan's heart was beating hard against his ribs, and he swallowed his anger. Whoever hurt Alissa like that was going to die. He would do anything to have her smile, and have her trust him. But he knew he couldn't really expect so much so suddenly. After all, they had just met a half hour ago, and they already had two serious discussions. Not that he minded, these things were what made Ally real. They were what made her different, and what made him sure that she was special. She was not going to walk out of his life as quickly as she came. He wasn't going to let her.
Alissa simply nodded, not trusting coherent words to come out. Let's say I did tell him, she thought, would he be mad? Disgusted? Angry? Upset? Or would he simply just not care? Ally almost flinched at the thought of him being disgusted by her. Tears pricked at her eyes, and she realized how important he was to her already. She would tell him, she decided that much. No matter what the consequences, she would tell him. And soon.
Ryan blinked and he was back in his first period, Mrs. Davids hadn't noticed. He wished he had done something, anything, to comfort Ally. She looked so broken, sitting there against the window. He knew it was partly because of him, but he didn't know how to make her smile again. He had never had such a strong impulse to protect someone, nor such a strong need for them to smile.
He didn't know what to do.

smile for me ♥ Chapter Two ♥ "It's okay," the incredible voice chuckled. Ally looked up, half expecting to see some gorgeous - beyond - belief movie star. "Hi," Ally said softly. The boy standing in front of her was much, much better than a movie star. "Hey," he said, grinning widely. Ally's heart momentarily stopped beating. Her mind ran over all the little details that completed him. He was tall, at least compared to Alissa's height of 5'2. He was maybe around 5'8, if not taller. His hair was dark brown, soft and messy. Her hands longed to touch it. His eyes were a darker brown, and as she looked into them her breath caught. To her, it would have been humanly impossible to have more beautiful eyes. They were perfect, crinkled up as he smiled, dancing and sparkling. Suddenly, they weren't dancing, but they became hard and worried. "Hello?" he waved his hands in front of her, "Are you okay?" "What?" Ally jumped back, surprised by the pair of hands so close to her face. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you," he said, his eyes still slightly worried. "Oh. No, its okay," Ally was at a loss for words. Was he really talking to her or was she just imagining it? He couldn't really be worried about her.. "You okay?" he repeated. "Yeah, I'm sorry," Ally didn't know what she was sorry for but it seemed right to say. "Um," the gorgeous stranger didn't seem to know either, "No problem. I'm Ryan, by the way." Ally shook his outstretched hand, then answered, "I'm Alissa. Ally." He smiled, and once again Ally forgot where she was. "Nice name. Are you new here?" "Thanks. And yeah," Ally smiled, what she hoped was a warm smile. He smiled back, and Ally felt annoyed for a second that she couldn't stun him, the way he could stun her. "Thats cool. It's really nice here, once you get used to how small the town is. Where'd you move from?" Ryan asked curiously. "Orlando," Ally answered quicky, feeling slightly anxious. She didn't particularly like talking about her past, no matter how recent it was. He looked a little taken aback by how quickly Ally answered, but continued their conversation nontheless. "You moved from Florida to Oregon? Why?" Alissa's face crumpled, and she immediately tried to replace it with a passive expression. This was the question she had been dreading. Her usual answer was a half-truth, no one outside of herself and her mother knew. But she still didn't want to visit those memories. Ryan noticed her sudden change of mood, and quickly said, "No - I mean, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked. I didn't kn-" But Ally interupted him, "No, its okay. My parents got divorced. Thats all." Ryan, however, didn't fall for it. And for some reason, Ally didn't mind, but she felt grateful. In the two minutes they had met, she felt more comfortable around him then anyone she had ever met. She was almost glad that he saw through her facade. "Ally, are you okay?" He asked, his voice colored with concern. "Yeah, fine," she tried to make her voice as believable as possible, but quite possibly, failed. "Really, what's wrong?" Ryan asked gently. Ally's heart soared, then fell. Here, standing in front of her was a boy who actually cared, and she couldn't tell him the truth. "Nothing, Ryan, really. I'm just overly sensitive," Ally finished with a smile. "Really?" he asked, doubtfully. "Really," Ally reassured him. "Promise?" he asked. Ally simply nodded, not wanting to venture down a road of broken promises. "Hey, so when does the bus get here then?" Ally's voice was carefully casual as she changed the subject, not even bothering with subtlety. "Five more minutes, I think," Ryan answered, an eyebrow raised. "What!? But I got a letter saying that 'the bus comes at 7:25' and I had to be at the bus stop at '7:20 sharp'. It's got to be almost 7:40 by now," Ally said, almost angrily. She would never mind a few extra minutes with Ryan, who luckily was the only other person at this stop, but Ally did not appreciate 'false advertising', for lack of a better phrase. Ryan laughed, a heavenly sound,"Yeah right. We're lucky if she gets here by 7:45!" Ally laughed for a moment, thinking. "But then why are you here so early?" Ryan stopped laughing, and a short silence fell between them before he smiled and hastily said, "I've got a little brother. Damn annoying. I don't mind being away from him." Ally nodded, clearly not believing him, but since he let her problem drop eventually, she gave him the same freedom. After a minute or so, the big yellow school bus could finally be seen coming down the road, toward them. Ryan flashed her a smile, the sparkle was back in his eyes. "Sit by me?" he said, hopeful. The question ran through Alissa's head at least ten times before she understood. She grinned, her heart beating rapidly. * authors note * so what did you think? sorry if it bored you. i tried (: i'm duckysayssmle, by the way, but this is my newly made story account:) Comments & Faves are seriously appreciated :) Iloveyoubeautiful ♥

    Chapter One: Scars

"You're fine. You look fine," Alissa Steele said to her reflection in the full length mirror next to her closet. After a half hour of attacking her entire closet, she came up with a near perfect outfit for her first day at North Sanburn High. It consisted of her favorite pair of skinny jeans, a dark red Abercrombie hoodie, a tight white tank top, and black converse. It was nothing special, Ally didn't want to stand out, but to completely blend in.
Her brown hair was flawlessly straightened, and she bobby-pinned her side bang back into a bob. A small amount of eyeliner and mascara coated her big, green eyes, and tiny heart-shaped studs were in her ears. She really had no idea how beautiful she was.
"Everythings going to be fine," Alissa continued her attempts to comfort herself. She had newly moved to a small city named Sanburn, and if that wasn't bad enough today was her first day as a high schooler. She wasn't complaining though. Her parents had recently divorced; her dad in jail, and the thought of spending another day back there scared her to death.
"Ally! You're going to be late for your first day!" Nicole Haddson called from downstairs.
"Coming, Mom!" Alissa yelled. Taking one last look at herself in the mirror, she grabbed her bag and hurried down the stairs. Her mom was standing in front of the stove in the kitchen, watching over a pancake.
"Good morning, Mom," Ally gave her mom a quick one-handed hug, and lifted herself onto the counter.
"Good morning, sweetheart. Get a plate. Pancakes are okay, right?" Nicole asked.
Ally ducked down so her mom could get a plate from the cabinet behind her, and then answered, "Yeah Mom, fine."
She quickly scarfed down her pancakes and a glass of milk. Glancing at the clock on the oven, Ally panicked when she realized how close she was to missing the bus. She grabbed her bag, stopping only to kiss her mom goodbye, her eyes lingering on the long scar lining her mother's collarbone. No matter how many times she looked at it, it always jumped out to her like it was a purple giraffe
"Go on, you're going to be late," Nicole noticed where Alissa's eyes lay, and hurried her along. Ally ran to her bus stop, her mind a thousand miles away.
"Hey, watch who you're attacking!" a deep, absolutely heavenly voice said, as it's owner put his hands on Ally's shoulders to steady her.
"Huh?" Ally said, broken out of her thought processing, then realized that she had bumped into someone someone, "Oh right, sorry."
"It's okay," that incredible voice chuckled. Ally looked up, half expecting to see some gorgeous - beyond - belief movie star.
"Hi," Ally said softly. The boy standing in front of her was much, much better than a movie star.
