   chapter 3
   "Sorry girls, but visiting hour is over I'm going to have to ask you to leave." Merideth herded us out of the room. Merideth had been Rose's nurse since she was first diagnosed. Her brown hair was up in a bun and her tired dark brown eyes stared into mine as she whispered "I'll take good care of her Lyssa" But I could tell those lips that whispered those words to me would soon bare bad news. I smiled and slowly walked through the halls. Mom was probably already in her car by the time I reached the elevator. I pressed the down button, and the doors opened and i walked in and as if on cue my phone buzzed. It was a text from a number that didn't look familiar.
   Hi just wanted to make sure the gorgeous girl in the elevator didn't give me a fake number(;

   I smiled with surprise. Gorgeous? He thought i was gorgeous? I have never pictured myself as the type to be given the title of gorgeous.I stared into the reflection of the elevators walls, my wavy dark brown hair flowed down my back and my cat green eyes stared back at me. I never caked my face with makeup but wore some but right now I was au naturale. I can't believe he tought I was pretty..I quickly brushed off my thoughts. I should be thinking about Rose. Rose and Rose only. Or should I be thinking about the secret. The secret that threatned Rose and I. My thoughts were soon distingueshed by the elevaator doors opening and i walked out into the lobby. It was strangely quiet... too quiet? No I'm being silly it's not a horror movie. It was snowing outside and bracing myself for the cold I opened the doors and wrapped my arms around myself. I walked out to my car and opened the door just then a voice pierced through the air.
   " Alyssa is that you? I figured you would be here."
   I turned to see a dark figure standing there staring at me with a slight grin on their face.

   chapter two
   I continued running through the halls my thoughts switching from Rose to Logan. That's when i saw the door with the name Rose Johnson written on the little white board on the door. I walked in slowly, afraid what i was about to see. Rose was laying in bed looking so fragile with machines hooked up to her body. Her eyes were closed and my mother sat beside Rose holding her hand her eyes red from crying.
   "Hi Alyssa." my mother said. I didn't reply i just stood there my eyes closely watching Rose's chest go up in down. Thank god she was still breathing. Rose and I told each other everything. I wanted to tell her about the handsome boy I had met in the elevator. That I swore I had known and he said I looked familiar also. My mind quickly shifted to the secret.
   *Flashback*
   "Alyssa! Let's go! I want to get to the party before anyone else" I raced down the stairs and was greeted by Rose's eager smile. She had been looking forward to Kenzie's party since she had gotten out of the hospital being told she was going to be fine. She wore her black haired wig and red party dress.
   "Rose take it easy, what's the rush"
   "Let's just say this is going to be one killer party" she smiled her little evil smile and turned on her heel and walked to the car.

   It was about 11:00 when I got the phone call. I had been waiting by the phone for two days. Just waiting. Waiting for someone to tell me she would be okay. I was thinking of the secret , that's when the phone rang.
   "hello?!!"
   "Alyssa? It's mom. I want you to come to the hospital. To see your sister."
   I hung up as soon as she said hospital. Rose had been in the hospital for as long as i could remember. And just two days ago the cancer had gotten worse. They questioned if she would make it. Rose and I were best friends. We knew some things about eachother that only made our bond stronger. The secret. The secret that could turn my - OUR lives upside down in a heartbeat.
   This Moment
   chapter one
   I drove to the hospital as fast as I could. My knuckles started to turn white from gripping the steering wheel so tight. My tears blurred my vision and i had one thing on my mind. Rose. When my mother called it seemed so urgent i just wanted Rose to be okay. I pulled into the parking lot of Marshall hospital where Rose was staying. I hopped out of my car and stood in the snow that was up to my knees. It was December 7th and a white blanket of snow covered the whole town. I ran through the snow and into the lobby. The secretary saw me and her smile soon turned into a frown.
   "Third floor today sweetie"
   I ran to the elevators and pushed three the doors started to close when a hand stopped them. A boy about my age walked in and pressed six.
   "Hi I'm Logan" he said extending his hand.
   "Alyssa" i politely shook his hand.
   "You look very familiar..." he said.
   I waited in the awkward elevator ride that seemed to take forever when it finally arrived at the third floor he asked for my phone number i gave it to him and he smiled. I then ran to Rose's room taking one last glance at Logan and the grin on his face as he looked at the phone number I had written on his arm.
