introduction


It was about 11:00 when I got the phone call. I had been waiting by the phone for two days. Just waiting. Waiting for someone to tell me she would be okay. I was thinking of the secret , that's when the phone rang.
"hello?!!"
"Alyssa? It's mom. I want you to come to the hospital. To see your sister."
I hung up as soon as she said hospital. Rose had been in the hospital for as long as i could remember. And just two days ago the cancer had gotten worse. They questioned if she would make it. Rose and I were best friends. We knew some things about eachother that only made our bond stronger. The secret. The secret that could turn my - OUR lives upside down in a heartbeat.


This Moment
chapter one




I drove to the hospital as fast as I could. My knuckles started to turn white from gripping the steering wheel so tight. My tears blurred my vision and i had one thing on my mind. Rose. When my mother called it seemed so urgent i just wanted Rose to be okay. I pulled into the parking lot of Marshall hospital where Rose was staying. I hopped out of my car and stood in the snow that was up to my knees. It was December 7th and a white blanket of snow covered the whole town. I ran through the snow and into the lobby. The secretary saw me and her smile soon turned into a frown.
"Third floor today sweetie"
I ran to the elevators and pushed three the doors started to close when a hand stopped them. A boy about my age walked in and pressed six.
"Hi I'm Logan" he said extending his hand.
"Alyssa" i politely shook his hand.
"You look very familiar..." he said.
 I waited in the awkward elevator ride that seemed to take forever when it finally arrived at the third floor he asked for my phone number i gave it to him and he smiled. I then ran to Rose's room taking one last glance at Logan and the grin on his face as he looked at the phone number I had written on his arm.
