if you are a boy who immediately says "not all boys are like that!" when girls talk about harassment/disrespect/being objectified/being treated badly/being made to feel unimportant by men
- you are disregarding their hurt and fear and shame
- you are trying to make yourself into the victim when you are not and never will be
- you are treating their issues as unimportant
- you are looking for sympathy you don't need instead of trying to make the situation better for them
you have just proved that you are exactly like that.

when i say that i get embarrassed when fictional characters do stupid stuff i don't mean that i roll my eyes and whisper 'you idiot'. i mean that i will pause the televison/throw the book across the room, bury my face in a pillow and make muffled noises of anguish into the pillow for several minutes, often while lying on the floor.

everyone knows that story. everyone knows the story where the knight slays the dragon to save the princess's life, they kiss, and then they live happily ever after.
i prefer the story where the dragon fell in love with the princess first.
i prefer the story where he tried to tell her he loved her but smoke billowed from his mouth instead, and he tried to hold her close to him but his claws tore her dress and scratched her skin.
in that story, the dragon is so in love that he burns the world to the ground in search of something - anything that is brighter than she is.
(in that story, the dragon lies down in the mud and lets the knight slay him, because it's easier than having to watch the way she looks at him.)

Not feminism: I hate men! Women are so much better than men! All men are rapists and we don't need their help! Men are just there to oppress us and keep us down! Women are the superior gender.
Not feminism: You're giving up your career to have a baby? You're being dictated to by a man! That's the wrong choice! You've slept with twenty men? Wow, way to show that you have no respect for yourself.
Feminism: Women and men are equal. No-one should be discriminated against on the basis of their gender. Women have the right to decide how to live their life, how to dress, what to do with their body and who to love.

The picture said "It doesn't matter what she did. It's never okay to hit a woman ever!!!"
And the reply was amazing.

Like If you believe that women are really equal to men, then it follows that any appropriate reason to hit a man is also an appropriate reason to hit a woman. There aren't a LOT of appropriate reasons to hit anyone, but having a v/gina doesn't make you magically a fragile creature that can't deal with being punched just the same as a man.

The simple meaning of feminism is this:
Support women's rights, and support other women.
Meaning, you have to accept white women, black women, asian women, native women, skinny women, fat women, short women, tall women, women who have s*x, women who don't, trans women, lesbian women, straight women, able women, disabled women, etc. Of course there will be women you encounter throughout your life that you dislike, but you should not be rude to a 'certain kind' of a woman. Meaning, hating 's1uts' because they have s*x a lot, or hating white girls because they're annoying you, is not feminism. Have a good day.

i find it really strange how one minute, everyone on this website is like, "yeah! feminism! these are our bodies and we can do what we want with them!" and the next minute, the top quote of the day is about someone publicly mocking a girl on facebook for wearing a (small) bikini, and all the comments say that it's hilarious.

Just because you're upset that someone died
Doesn't mean you have any form of depression.
Just because you're watching your weight a little more than you did five years ago
Doesn't mean you're becoming anorexic.
People these days seem to want to have mental disorders.
Mental disorders aren't cute or fun. They are legitimate illnesses that people actually struggle with everyday.

Reasons I don't like Justin Bieber
1) He said that r.ape happens for a reason
2) At Anne Frank's house, he wrote in the guestbook that he hoped "she would have been a Belieber"
3) When asked to try being vegan, he spit out the vegan steak that was specially ordered for him
4) He makes his fans pay tons of money to see him live, even though he could afford having the tickets be $50 instead of $100 dollars for mezzanine seats
5) Once, he went to a childrens hospital in England and made them clear the area so he wouldn't have to wait near the sick children. He spent about 5 minutes with the children while the cameras were around and then left as soon as they wre gone.
6) He peed in a restaurant kitchen
7) Once, he faked a really bad asthma attack and the paramedics were called. He then proceeded to laugh is a.ss off when they came through the door. His people talked the paramedics into not saying anything because, apparently, you can go to jail for that.
8) He wanted to go to a mall, once, and when the car came he sent it back because he didn't like the color. He then spent only 5 minutes at the mall before leaving and saying it was the sh ittiest mall he'd ever been to.
9) He didn't show up to one of his concerts until half way through the scheduled time
10) He's quoted to having screamed, "F.uck Bill Clinton" to cameras
11) He attacked a paparazzi, who is suing.
12) When he went to Vermont, he was kicked out of every business he went to (IHOP, Hannaford, Walmart, etc.)
13) At a movie theater, he threw a huge temper tantrum when he was told that he couldn't bring his Subway sandwich into the movie, since it was against the rules. He made a mess in the theater and was carried out by one of his bodyguard, kicking and screaming.
14) Once, he randomly showed up to Disney unannounced and demanded that the entire Yachtsman Steakhouse be cleared- reservations cancelled and all- so that he could eat there. The staff had to call every single one of the guests to tell them that their reservations they had been planning for months were cancelled and wasn’t allowed to give them an explanation. Disney also decided that it wasn’t fair to their guests and gave them free dinner at another restaurant, which obviously lost them a lot of money and business for that night.
15) He spit on his fans
I don't dislike him because of his voice or his music. I dislike him because he is a terrible human being.

Here's a short lesson on panic attacks.
You have had a panic attack four (or more) of the following symptoms developed abruptly and reached a peak within 10 minutes.
--Palpitations, and/or accelerated heart rate
--Dry heaving, and/or gagging
--Sweating
--Trembling or shaking
--Sensations of shortness of breath or being smothered
--Feeling of choking
--Chest pain or discomfort
--Nausea or abdominal distress
--Feeling dizzy, unsteady, lightheaded, or faint
--De-realization (feelings of unreality) or derpersonalization (being detached from oneself)
--Fear of losing control or going insane
--Sense of impending death
--Paresthesias (numbness or tingling sensations)
--Chills or hot flashes
A panic attack is not
--Being nervous for a test
--Freaking out because you embarrassed yourself
--Your heart skipping a beat because you failed a test or forgot homework
--Feeling light headed before you perform
--Any other example of nervousness or embarrassment you can think of
So, can we please stop throwing the term panic attack around like it's some sort of cute thing to have, because it isn't. Having a panic attack is terrifying, no matter how many times you have one, and people who suffer from panic disorder certianly don't see it as a cute and quirky character trait.

A Guide to Opinions Because Everyone on Here Seems to Need One
First off--What is an opinion?
"A belief about matters commonly used to be subjective based on that which is less than absolutely certain and is a result of emotion and interpretation of facts."

To break it down for you:
It is an emotional thought and it cannot ever be wrong!
How someone views something is an opinion!
And people have different ones!
Ooooooh who would have thought?
Someone may have a different politcal view than you.
That's okay!
Somone might have different religious views.
That's okay!
Somone may not like a book or movie or actor you like.
That's okay!
What is not okay:
Saying someone's opinion is wrong
&&&
Shoving it down someone's throat
&&&
Calling them names
&&&
Being mean
because they're emotional interpretation of something is different than yours.
In summary:
People might think differently than you and that's okay. What's not okay is saying they are wrong because they think differently because that kind of thing can start wars. Okay, children?

so today i got up at four this morning to look after my sister while mum somehow managed to get dad on a plane so he could get to the hospital.
they're both halfway across the country.
i now have to get through up to a week of school looking after a small child with no adults and no car while also being very concerned about dad.
f/cking love my life.
