I slid down the stairway railing into the living room , I could still here Ashley crying. I walked into the kitchen, the crying then got louder.
" Ashley stop crying obviously he's not worth it " I said to my 14 year old sister.
" But he loved me and I loved him " She said.
" Well if he loved you he wouldn't of cheated on you " I said under my breath
" What did you say Kara ? " Ashley asked .
" Nothing " I said.
I cut myself up an apple and went and sat on the couch with my sister and watched MTV with her. All of a sudden my obnoxious mother walked into the house. Oh great I thought.
" GUESS WHAT ! " She yelled.
" What" me and my sister said rolling our eyes at each other.
" Were moving ! " She said
" Cute mom " I said.
" Fine then don't believe me " She said
" Mom , can you just not joke about that I'm already not in the mood " My sister said
" Psh whats up your butt ? " She asked Ashley
My sister then didn't say anything .
" Yeah thats what I thought " My mom said
" Maybe you should start caring how your kids feel for once mom " I said walking by my mom going upstairs.
" Excuse me ? " My mom repeated.
" You heard , " I said going into my room and shutting it.
I then looked outside to see a for sale sign being put on my lawn .
" WHAT THE " I Screamed, I ran out of my room and slammed the door.
" MOM ! YOU CAN NOT BE DOING THIS" I Screamed.
" Kara chill , shes in her room what are you even screaming about " Ashley asked.
" Look outside , " I said running back upstairs into my moms room.
" ARE YOU SERIOUS ? " Ashley screamed and followed me.
I slammed open my moms door.
" How dare you " I said to her.
" How dare I what ? " My mom replied.
" Make us move, where ever we are moving to , I just got a job , I have an amazing boyfriend and friends , I grew up here , do you know how me and Ashley feel ? " I asked.
" Do you think i really care , its not your choice its mine, and oh were moving to Mississippi , " She said.
" I'm not going " I said
" Oh yes you are both of you are whether you like it or not, and ya know I'm not gonna come home from a good day of work and get my night ruined by you girls , I'm going out for a couple drinks with my friends " My mom said
" You do that " I replied.
I walked out of her room into mine furious and fell back to sleep for another hour and a half. I woke up at like 5:45 ish and turned the TV on . I was getting ready to hang out with my friend Katie, I turned the news on and went into my bathroom and got my straighter I plugged it into the electric socket next to my vanity and started to brush my hair , The house phone then rang.
" Hello " I said.
" Hi is this Kara Brown ? " The lady asked on the phone .
" Yes this is she ... " I said suspicious.
" You might want to come down to the hospital " The lady said
" I would... if I know what for and if I could drive... "I said.
" Well I can't tell you why until you get here , ill send a police car to pick you up " The lady said .
" Uh okay " I replied.
I clicked off and turned around to see breaking news on the TV, there on the screen was my moms car , flipped over.
" AH " I screamed, I started crying, Ashley ran up into my room, she took one look at the TV and broke down, Although my mom didn't seem to care about us , we still cared about her and loved her. Me and my sister stood in an embrace crying for ten minutes, I looked up to see a police officer standing in my doorway,
" Hi I'm guess you are Kara Brown and Ashley right ? " The women police officer said.
" Yes " I replied.
" Okay , Well I'm officer Diane and my partner Mike is in the car, I can't tell you anything , all I can tell you is you will find out whatever you need to be told at the Hospital, " She said
" Okay, let me get situated and well be down " I said.
My mom was pretty much the only family we had her family lived on the northeast and we lived in Washington state, my dad and her divorced when I was 8 and my sister was 6. We only saw him certain times of the year , he was in the military up until I was ten. He then moved to Canada with my aunts two kids , unfortunately she died in 9/11. My dads family lived all over though. I quickly texted my dad.
Me : : (
Dad : you okay honey,
Me : No , something happen to mom , she was on the news for breaking news, I think shes dead : (.
I then quickly threw my hair in a bun and put some sweatpants on and a sweatshirt and grabbed my phone and charger and went outside with my sister into the car. We drove to the hospital to be told my mom wasn't doing well , she was in icu and they werent sure she was going to make it.
" Kara , do you have any other family , we can contact " Officer Diane asked.
" Uh , I don't know they live on the other side of the US and my dad lives in Canada. " I said.
She then walked away.
Me and my sister fell asleep in the waiting room. Suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder.
