Torn
Chapter 22
I gently closed the door behind me and I massaged Tyler's shoulders before he turned around.
"What?" he asked hostily.
"I just wanted to check and see if you're okay," I tried to sooth him, still massaging him.
"Well I'm not," he said shortly.
"Is there anything I can do?" I asked, moving my arms down so I was massaging the middle of his back.
"I'm not mad at you, baby. I'm mad at myself. I let myself take advantage of the situation.”
"But I wanted to," I whispered.
"Well it won't happen again," he said, pulling away from me and turning to face me.
"Whatever," I said, crossing my arms and pouting. He pulled me up in his arms in a cradle kissed my forehead.
"I still love you," he said, pulling my chin up so he could look me in the eyes.
"I know," I said grudgingly, turning my face away from him, "I still love you too."
He started laughing and stood up with me in his arms and carried me into the main room and sat me down next to Eli and he sat on the other side of me. Eli gave him a death glare and then gave me a half smile. Lanie, who was on the other side of Eli, looked over Eli's shoulder and rolled her eyes to let me know that Eli was still being unreasonable. I smiled at her and rolled my eyes too, to let her know that my talk with Tyler hadn't gone exactly how I had wanted it to. She smiled at me and then fell back behind Eli again.
"What was that about?" Eli asked while Tyler just looked confused.
"Nothing," I said simply, not wanting to go into deep detail about the inner working of a girl's brain so that we could communicate like that.
"Ok…" he said tentatively.
"So where are we going now?" I asked.
"We are going to your doctor's appointment."
"I have another doctor's appointment?"
"Yeah, this is to get you cleared so that you can perform before the awards so that you can get the most publicity you can," Tyler explained.
Then, as if on cue, the bus screeched to a halt and Eli scooped me up and brought me out to where Dad was waiting with a wheelchair for me. As we went towards the doctor's office, there were a few paparazzi taking pictures. We got in there, and the doctor was ready for us and we went back into a check out room. They checked my blood pressure, my heart rate, got me hooked up to an EKG machine for a reading, gave me a stress test, and then listened to my lungs.
"It sounds like everything is almost back to normal. Your lungs are a little stiff, so I'm going to give you some breathing exercises. But other than that, you look good. I have one more test for you. I'm going to check for ulcers by giving you just a quick routine ultrasound. So please come with me," with that, the doctor left the room and went down a hallway. I followed him and everyone else followed me. When we got into the room with the ultrasound machine and I laid on the bed that was by the machine. The doctor pulled my shirt off my stomach, squirted some clear, cold gel on my lower abs and put the ultrasound wand on the gel. After searching around a little bit, she looked at me and then asked everyone else to leave the room. Once they were gone, he looked at me and said very quickly, "Are you sexually active?"
I was taken aback by the question, but then I understood that this was just a routine question, "Yes I am. I have been for about five months."
"Well, the good news is that you don't have cancer. The bad news is that you are about a month and a half pregnant."
