It is a french term that just means in English the predicament of thinking the comeback is too late.(: It is like a metaphor or like a slang. It originates from Denis Diderot when he explains how a man like himself can reach the bottom of a staircase, and with overwhelming thoughts he becomes confused. Google translate only translate what it means literally not what it subliminally means.(:
