my neighbor, who just turned eleven, had a party with all of her friends. I walked in, and a majority of them weren't talking to eachother. They were on their cell phones. And my neighbor Cailey, seemed kind of bored. she told me she wanted a phone reallly bad. So I asked all of her friends where they go by themselves, and why they need a cellphone. One answered "Well I get bored when I'm at the mall with my mom"
What have the young kids turned into???

New Girl
Chapter 1
Everybody stared as I walked down the hallway. I was the new girl in school, and everyone apparently knew my story. My mom died in a car accident. I've had 3 people come up and ask if it was true she died from drug overdose. It's my first day, how have rumors already started? I simply said no, then they asked if I was single. So I gave 2 of them my number, the one I didn't give it to tried to grab my a** so I said no. I walked into the class, I got dirty stares by the "popular" girls, so I politely sat in the back. History class was easy, and so were all of the other classes. I walked home from school, it was around a 15 minute walk. No one bothered me on the way home. I lived in the "rich" neighborhood, so I got snickered at when I turned down my street. I had been living in that house for about a week now. I walked in, and of course my dad was at work. He always was, thats why my brother is always in some sort of trouble I guess. But my brother was 19 and he stayed in Arizona with his girlfriend. But no doubt he will be calling because of money or jail issues. My dad was a lawyer, so my brother kind of emarrased him. My mom put up with it though, she put up with both of us. Me, always out shopping and wasting money and my brother in jail atleast once every 2 months. The next day, I had someone come up to me and ask if it was true that my brother was in jail for robbing a bank, I asked where they heard that and she said she saw it on the news, and he had the same last name as me. I hoped it wasnt him. For the rest of the day classes were normal, except for math. A stupid jock passed me a note asking if I was single or a virgin. I tore up the note and threw it out. I'm single and 16, can't he do the math? I hoped I would make new friends soon, I missed home.

The Promise
Chapter 6
Lilly and Dylan came home. We all ate breakfast. Then we seperated into pairs to get ready. The boys were leaving at 12:30 and Lilly and I were leaving at 1:00. Then we would all see eachother at the chapel, after I walk down the isle, Dad giving me away. My dress was sparkly and tight until right above my waist and bigger down to the floor. Not full hoop but pretty big. It was 12:00 now so I only had an hour. Lilly did my hair as I did my makeup. My hair was perfectly curled with a curling iron. All this work for absolutely nothing.
"You look beautiful Ash" Lilly said as we climbed into the corvette that Dylan sent to pick us up. The driver was nice, which was good because I was so nervous I was going to snap any second. I walked into the front area of the chapel. It was already 1:45. My dad and John were waiting at the front doors. I hugged my dad, so happy he could make it, and he loved John, but I still wasn't sure what he's going to think about John stopping the wedding. Then I heard the beginning of the music, and all the bridemaids went down the isle. John kissed my cheek and went along with them. I walked down the isle, my dad gave me away. All went as planned. Everything was a blur until I heard
"Does anyone have any objections against this man and woman getting married?"
"WAIT" I heard a voice say, I was relieved and tensed up at the same time, I looked over and there he was...

The Promise
Chapter 5
I fell asleep supringly easy. When I woke up it was 10:00. Wedding was in 4 hours. I walked slowly downstairs hoping John wasn't there yet. I walked downstairs and heard Lilly talking about the drive down to florida, I hoped she was talking on the phone. I walked into the kitchen, and there was Dylan, Lilly and John standing around the kitchen table.
"About time you woke up" John said, winking. Why is he so good at hiding things???
"Oh so funny" I said, still groggy from just waking up. Dylan walked over said good morning and kissed me, John looked away. I didn't know what to say, but good thing loud mouth Lilly filled the awkward silence.
"Well I'm going to the market, do any of you want anything?" We all said no.
"Why don't you go with her Dylan?" I said, trying to sound polite. Not suspicous. I guess it worked.
"Yeah sure, lets go Lilly." He said, walking towards the door. John and I were alone in the house. We sat in silence for a few minutes.
"How are you going to stop the wedding?" I asked. Not 100% ready for the answer.
"That's for me to know and you to find out." John answered smiling. He walked over and kissed me. How could I have chose Dylan over this?
"So what did you mean by my fate with Dylan?" I asked after he pulled away.
"I told you I would explain after the wedding was stopped. I don't want you nervous and ruining this"
"Promise you will?" I asked, even though I really wanted to know now.
"I promise." He said.

The Promise
Chapter 4
I opened the door, expecting to see John I got an even better suprise, it was my sister! Dylan came down stairs and when he saw her his eyes open real wide, Dylan, my sister and I were the best of friends.
"ASHLEY!!!!" She screamed
"LILLY!!!!" I screamed back, running into her arms. Dylan walked towards us smiling and we shared a big group hug. We sent her an invitation and she replied that she was coming, but since she didnt show for the bachelorette party, we thought she wasn't coming at all.
"Dylan, Ashley, I think we have some catching up to do, but it's too late now, after the wedding we can all hang out before you leave for the honey moon in 5 days!" Lilly said happily.
"How bout now?! Its only 2, another hour wouldn't hurt." I completely forgot about John stopping the wedding for a second.
"Sure! Why not." Dylan replied while yawning. I hope Lilly agrees.
"Okay! So Ashley, how'd he propose?! I want all the details." Lilly asked, Dylan rolled his eyes at the sign of girly gossip.
"Simple, got on my knee in a resteraunt, and she said yes" Dylan said, just about summing it up completely, and thank god for that because I didn't want to talk about the wedding. I was dreading not knowing what will happen with John.
"Wow Ashley you got one romantic keeper" Lilly said sarcastically, winking at Dylan. "Beautiful house you guys got here, what do you do now Dylan? What about you Ashley?"
"Im a surgeon at Jackson general hospital" Dylan replied proudly.
"Not working at the moment, Im hoping to pick up a small job soon, what do you do know Lilly?" I answered, and I thought about how that might change with John also being a surgeon but not as highly paid as Dylan. But I love John more, so money does not matter.
"Well Im still stuck in same old South Carolina, I own a t-shirt shop near the peer, enough money to get by on my own" Lilly replied
"Any new boyfriends?" Dylan asked, winking towards Lilly. The winking kind of made me nervous, but Dylan isn't the cheating type, theyre just friends.
"Hahahah nooo silly" Lilly said kind of sad, but instantly regaining her happy mood. "So where to for the honey moon?!?"
"Aruba" I said, with a huge smile. Dylan smiled too,putting his arm around me. I completely spaced about John, but forgetting helps because I don't seem suspicous.
"Well time for bed!" Lilly announced, "Ill be back just going to run out and get my bags, I'm only staying for a few days"
"I'll help" Dylan said following her out the door. I went up to bed, so tired that I might actually be able to fall asleep. John will be over in the morning, "Uh oh" I whispered to myself, John is Dylan's best man...

Chapter 3
I ran towards Dylans voice, just how John told me to. When I saw Dylan, I started to walk, I was out of breath. He ran up to me, gave me a big hug and a kiss. It wasn't the same as John.
"Where have you been?!" Dylan said, relieved, but with anger still in his voice.
"I uh, went for a walk.." I answered, not knowing what to say.
"In the rain! Do you even know what time it is?!" After every word he got more and more angry.
"I needed to get out of the house, I left around midnight" I said this more confidently because it was actually the truth.
"It's 1:30am ashley! What were you thinking! You scared me half to death" Dylan said, almost yelling now. He had a short temper, so it didn't excactly phase me. Dylan and John are friends, but yet they are close to opposites.
"Im sorry, can we go home now? Im cold" I answered evenly. Dylan zipped up his jacket, not even offering it to me, and we walked home mostly in silence. We got to the house, I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep anytime soon, so I told Dylan I was getting something to eat from the kitchen and would meet him upstairs. Dylan went straight to bed. He was clueless of what had happened tonight, and what was going to happen tomorrow. Where are John and I going to go after he stops the wedding? How is he going to stop the wedding? Questions raced through my head. The wedding was in less than 12 hours, and Im nervous. As questions kept coming into mind, I heard a loud know on the door, I jumped. My heart raced as I walked towards the door......

The Promise
Chapter 2
I thought about all the times he and I had. I love Dylan, but I love John more.
"Okay" I said, with an unsure tone in my voice. John, knowing me so well, instantly sensed it.
"Don't lie to me Ashley" He said this while taking a few steps toward me, he stopped directly infront of me. Looking into my eyes.
"I'm not lying John, I lo-" As I was saying this John leaned down and stopped my words with a kiss. I had no clue what to do, I felt horrible thinking about Dylan. But being with John felt so much better. I pulled away and breathed out "John, I love you"
"I know" He said back, winking. The next sound starled me beyond belief,
"ASHLEY? ASHLEY WHERE ARE YOU!?" I heard Dylan's voice, and he wasn't far behind. I looked at John, and he grabbed my hand, we started running in the opposite direction of the voice. As soon as we couldn't hear Dylan we stopped.
"John, John what am I going to do?" I said.
"Go to him, I'll think of something, don't you worry I'll stop the wedding."
"What are you going to do John?" I asked, not sure what to say.
"Ashley, I love you but do not marry Dylan. I will tell you the details tomorrow."
"But where are we going to go? I can't stay with Dylan, and my parents live up in Maine." I was still unsure about the whole stopping the wedding. But I loved John more than Dylan.
"Then lets go to Maine." John said, and he was serious.
"We are not driving from Florida to Maine." I said, angry that he was being so foolish tonight.
"Anything is better than what your fate would be with Dylan." John said, for some reason tears welled up in his eyes.
"My fate? John, what is so bad about Dylan?"
"I said I would explain tomorrow, now go back to him before he gets too close." John snapped, I hadn't even heard Dylan shouting in the backround. So I kissed John and turned and ran towards Dylan's voice.

The Promise
Chapter 1
It was raining. I was breathing hard from running. I shouldn't be chasing him at midnight, tomorrow is my wedding. But I couldnt let John do this, he was standing on the edge of the bridge. Ready. Ready to jump. I didnt understand, why? He was always happy. When I saw him I slowly walked towards him, not wanting to startle him. John had tears running down his face, the rain was letting up. "John, John whats wrong?" I asked, still out of breath.
"Go. Away." He said harshly, I was scared, he never talked to anyone like that.
"John, dddont do this" I said, studdering because I was cold and scared.
"Why can't I? huh? You love him, I can't ever match up to that." He spat the words at me. Like I was a little kid who didnt understand.
"John, step back and we can talk about this" I said gently, gaining more self control.
"WHAT IS THERE TO TALK ABOUT ASHLEY!" He screamed, I was taken back. Tears started to run down my face, he never yelled at me. He turned and looked me in the eyes
"Tell me ashley, what is there to talk about?" John said this more gently, seeing I was upset.
"John talk about the fact that you need to understand Im getting married, you can't do this to me, or your family." I barely choked out the simple sentence. He took a step back from the edge, thinking. I always loved John, I never knew he felt the same way. So I moved on and met Dylan, my fiance.
"Promise me something Ashley." John said, slowly and quietly.
"Anything John just keep walking towards me, away from the edge. John stayed where he was.
"Promise me you won't marry Dylan."
