The Promise
Chapter
1
It was raining. I was breathing hard from running. I shouldn't
be chasing him at midnight, tomorrow is my wedding. But I couldnt
let John do this, he was standing on the edge of the bridge. Ready.
Ready to jump. I didnt understand, why? He was always happy. When I
saw him I slowly walked towards him, not wanting to startle him.
John had tears running down his face, the rain was letting up.
"John, John whats wrong?" I asked, still out of
breath.
"Go. Away." He said harshly, I was scared, he never
talked to anyone like that.
"John, dddont do this" I said, studdering because I was
cold and scared.
"Why can't I? huh? You love him, I can't ever match up
to that." He spat the words at me. Like I was a little kid who
didnt understand.
"John, step back and we can talk about this" I said
gently, gaining more self control.
"WHAT IS THERE TO TALK ABOUT ASHLEY!" He screamed, I was
taken back. Tears started to run down my face, he never yelled at
me. He turned and looked me in the eyes
"Tell me ashley, what is there to talk about?" John said
this more gently, seeing I was upset.
"John talk about the fact that you need to understand Im
getting married, you can't do this to me, or your family."
I barely choked out the simple sentence. He took a step back from
the edge, thinking. I always loved John, I never knew he felt the
same way. So I moved on and met Dylan, my fiance.
"Promise me something Ashley." John said, slowly and
quietly.
"Anything John just keep walking towards me, away from the
edge. John stayed where he was.
"Promise me you won't marry Dylan."

How do you guys like it? Never written a story and this is my first
try.
