if i ever push you away,
i don’t really mean to.
when i tell you I don’ t want to talk about it,
i do, i am just looking for the right words.
give me a minute, and if i can tell you; i will.
i try to be a struggling mix of real and
perfect at the same time.
at the moment,
i am working on the ratio.
when i get really quiet sometimes
it is because i have too much to say
i have thought of too many things to tell you
all at once
and i don’ t know what to say first.
i get immaturely jealous of anyone
who gets to see you on a daily basis.
i miss you really easily.
but i also like that we can be
a p a r t
and we are both okay. space is good, too.
i love the way we love some of the
same things. and i love how
we love entirely different things.
my head is a complicated pile of thoughts,
and fears, and cravings, and drams,
and this tangled up nostalgia for the
past and, somehow, the future.
i am flawed and i am human and i am broken and
i am trying. and I am one person and I am two hands
and i am one heart.
and i love you. and i am so glad you are here.

So last night ;
Iwas at theguy
I like's house.
And he left the couch to go help his mom with
something .
And while he was gone , I played barbie with
his little sister .
Then the next thing I know , She looks up at
Me and says "My big brother loves you ."
Shocked , I asked " How do you know that .?"
Then I smiled.
She looked at me , with the most serious face
And replys ; Well he has this Spider Man toy ;
And he never lets me play with it !
So I ask mommy why , and she said ;
That You gave it to my big brother."
Smiling I said , " Alanna , I gave that to him
When I was 5 years old. I'm sure he'll let you
Play with it .
She Looked at me with a gleam in her eyes
And said , " Sometimes I catch my brother
Cuddling in bed with it . But shhh ! Don't tell
him !
Just then her brother walked into the room ,
In silence , Alanna walked over to him ,
Grabbed his hand , brought him over to me ,
Made him hold my hand .
Then she smiled and in her tiney little voice
she said ;
" Garhett pinkey promise me something ."
He smiled at her and said "Anything kiddo ;
wassup.?"
Then Alanna looked at me, then back to her
Brother and said ,
"marry her"
Then her brother grabbed her little pinkey and
Replied ;
I Pinkey Promise I will.

my sister sat on the floor,
coloring on a giant piece of red paper.
"what ya got there, Kristin?" i asked.
she looked up at me with her big blue eyes and said,
"i'm making a card."
"for who?" i wondered.
"It's this kid at my school. he was absent on his birthday..."
i watched her sign her name with a heart and close up the paper.
"hey lauren, will you drive me to his house to drop it off?"
i nodded my head because it was obvious she liked this kid.
my sister smiled and put on her shoes.
when we got in the car my sister knew exactly where to go.
i was listening to her directions as we pulled up to the driveway.
but it was no house we had arrived at, it was the hospital.
i followed my sister into the front door and over the the desk
"can i see billy franklin?" my sister asked.
the nurse smiled and let my sister follow behind her.
we arrived to this room with the name billy franklin on the door in crayon.
i watched as my six year old sister walked up to his bed.
the little boy looked very weak, with loose patches of hair.
it was easy to tell he had cancer
but my sister walked up to him and handed him his card
suddenly, he looked less weak as he started to smile.
"i felt bad you missed your birthday. i love you, billy..." my sister said.
the poor little boy smiled and gave my sister a little half hug.
my eyes were getting teary as my sister held his hand and just talked to him.
now that, was love.

When I was in 3rd grade
A boy came up to me and asked if he could borrow a pencil.
We became best friends, but he moved away in sixth grade.
There I was, studying in the library in college.
when a guy whispered, "Can I borrow a pencil?"
I looked up, and it was him. We've been dating ever since.
