censorship is the tool of those who have the need to hide actualities from themselves and from others.
Their fear is only their inability to face what is real, and I can't vent any anger against them, I only feel this appaling sadness.
Somewhere, in their upbringing, they were shielded against the total facts of our existence.
They were only taught to look one way when many ways exist.
    - Charles Bukowski

    In Latin class today
we translated a story about a goddess who fell in love with a human.
She asked Jupiter (Zeus) to make him immortal,
but the poor guy still aged and just never died.
    Her solution?
Turn him into a cricket and leave him in a cave with the promise "I'll love you always!"

the most important things are the hardest to say.
they are things you get ashamed of, because words make them smaller.
when they were in your head they were limitless; but when they come out they seem to be no bigger than normal things.
    but that's not all.
the most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried.
they are clues that would guide your enemies to a prize they would love to steal.
It's hard and painful for you to talk about these things...and then people just look at you strangely.
They haven't understood what you've said at all, or why you almost cried while you were saying it.
    Stephen King

much of my life had been devoted to trying not to cry in front of people who loved me,
so I knew what Augustus was doing.
    You clench your teeth.
    You look up.
You tell yourself that if they see you cry, you will hurt them, and you will be nothing but a Sadness in their lives, and you must not become mere sadness,
    so you will not cry,
and you say all of this to yourself while looking up at the ceiling,
and then you swallow even though your throat does not want to close,
and you look at the person who loves you and smile.

to make eye contact while doing it.

People think a soulmate is your perfect fit.
    and that's what everyone wants.
but a true soulmate is a mirror; the person who shows you everything you're holding back.
a soulmate's purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart so new light can get in.

    I am an Introvert.
it's not that I don't like to talk, I just find "small talk" meaningless.
I am not afraid of people, I just don't have a reason to interact.
I'm not rude, I just prefer everyone be honest instead of beating around the bush.
I'm not shy, I just value closer friendships with fewer people.
I don't hate public places, I just don't like being there for extended peiods of time.
I don't always want to be alone, but I am comfortable in my own thoughts.
I'm not weird, I'm an individual.
I can relax and have fun, I just prefer to do it at home or in nature, not busy public places.
I'm sorry I can't "fix" myself and become an extrovert.

She is funny without ever being mean.

I am so lucky to love her, Van Houten.
You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world,
    old man,
but you do have some say in who hurts you.
I like my choices, I hope she likes hers.
    I do, Augustus.

you live in a great, big, vast world that you've seen none percent of.
and even the inside of your own mind is endless, it goes on forever inwardly, understand? Being the fact that you're alive is amazing, so you don't get to be bored.
