Imma be real, they freak me out.
Its not the stereotypical southern reason either - i dont think all muslims are terrorists-
i feel the same way when i see women wearing bonnets.

Personally I think they are super old fashion, but then again i've seen chicks rock a lot of different pretty ones. They kinda make me feel insecure- like since I'm not wearing one then I feel like they dont see me as modest. But thats just me.

My best friend wears a hijab as she's a very religious Muslim and even though I'm a Muslim too I don't feel that comfortable wearing it so I don't. It's totally fine if someone does wear it though seeing as everyone has their personal preferences.

I use to want to wear one when I was younger, and I'm totally cool with them.

I'm a muslim and I don't wear a Hijab just yet, but I respect girls who wear one with the right intentions x

Considering I live in the Middle East, I know/see lots of hijab-wearing women. I don't care. I've always seen people wearing them, so I literally have no problem with it.

I know a lot of people that think that women wearing hijabs are (i can't even think of a word oops) I guess controlled by men, but they really aren't. I used to live in the middle east and a lot of the girls I knew that did wear them didn't wear them when they didn't want too or when they travelled to other places where hijabs aren't common. I just wanted to let others know that they aren't forced at all to wear them, they choose too :D and wow this whole comment was very poorly written but oh well

*seconds that*
My uncle's mother (don't know how to refer to her in reference to me) is muslim, and although her sisters all wear hijabs, she doesn't. She was never forced to, and since she doesn't want to, *shrugs*

Honestly, saying Muslims can't wear hijabs is like saying Christians can't wear crosses.
And to be honest, I love how the Muslim religion teaches girls to protect their bodies and all. Like when was the last time you saw a sIutty Muslim? exactly.

I've seen a sIutty Muslim. xD Well, she identified as one but she wasn't practising and I think she renounced her faith earlier this year. hmmmbutya~

I love the comparison you used omg. Thanks for commenting! ^o^

I know a lot of people who wear hijabs, actually, though I'm not close with any of them. I know one girl in my math class who is so enormously pretty that wears one.
Anyway, when I was really young, I never really saw any people that wore hijabs where I lived, so it surprised me (I don't want to say scared because I wasn't, so I guess surprised is more fitting) when I first moved to a more diverse place. But now, I dunno, my opinion doesn't really change at all if any given person wears one or not.

Also,if a woman can prance around in a bikini without being shamed, why can't a woman wear something to protect her modesty? There's nothing wrong with it to me.

I'm not afraid or intimidated by women with hijabs (is that the proper plural?), but since women who wear hijabs are obviously practicing Muslims, I tend to be more careful (respectful, maybe) about what I say around them, especially if it's women who are older than I am, just like I would do around anyone who I know is religious. (At the same time if I knew a woman was a Muslim even I she didn't wear a hijab I would still act the same way.)

As a side note, all the ladies in hijabs that I encounter on a day-to-day basis wear the ones with really cute prints or something on them. I don't know if there's a difference in strictness between women who wear more vibrant hijabs compared to those who wear plain or muted ones.

Amenah · 1 decade ago
There isn't a strictness between the colours or patterns of hijab. None at all. n.n

Thank you!

im 100% against it!...along with the hijab is thte lack of women rights and its ironic you ask cuz you see, i live in USA, and go to a public catholic school and in religion class as a junior we cover a unit abt Isalm and such...basically, i believe its a faith for all men and of killing... cuz they believe in Muhammad and he married 9 year old girls and more than one wife and Muhammad says its fine to kill and such...and just, its basically a suciety of death....now, i understand that not all Muslims are in that side of believing and there are different kinds of believers in it...but the true heavy believers are so...i dont mean to down talk them...and im sorry i said this if u are a muslim...i have 100% respect for all people no matter race/religions/etc...(there is even a girl that is muslim who goes to my school)... i just dont agree with it and it NEEDS. TO. STOP. NOW!...women need rights! and need to get out of their hiding!!...im against Hijabs bc of the meaning that follows with them...women need to be free and this needs to stotp now!...watch the movie Rising Girl....i had to watch it last year for extra credit...it talks abt girls that are standing up against all these horrible down talks of women and rising to teh occation of going against it!!..ITS REALLY WELL DONE!...and gets you moved by their talks....please, do watch it...i think you would enjoy it!!... - Rising Girl

Im sorry...didnt mean to offend anyone... Im not scared of someone in a hijab...and i would love to meet u...honestly, i was the first and last to be friend that one Muslim girl at my school...no one else was Able to relate to her but me...cuz she doesnt speak our language well...but i knew how to relate to her...thru drawings of silly faces and flowers we were able to laugh together...my point being...i may not agree with it at all...i still would love to friend anyone and everyone

...I don't think I've ever thought about it before. Now that I do, when I see someone wearing it, I don't believe anything has ever changed. Though seeing someone wearing one might tell me where their origins are from, it doesn't scare me - nor should it. If I'm not mistaken, it's worn for modesty, right?
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

Amenah · 1 decade ago
It's for religious reasons. The base principal is that a woman's beauty is for her husband, in that, yeah, it's for modesty. n.n It's actually compulsory in Islam.
