Seriously? no. I'm sorry, but Steve is very dedicated to us wittians. if he wasn't, he could just stop running the website all together. i'm sure he spends hours each day, sorting through complaints and problems, but he still does it. Don't dare try to say Steve doesn't care. Just because Steve comments 'drama' on a quote certainly doesn't mean he "loves witty arguments." instead of just deleting the quote, maybe he commented that to get those people to realize how ridiculous their argument is. If black people had a problem with the n word, then it's their responsibility to bring it up with steve, not yours. besides, RARELY EVER do i see wittians say the n word on here...the stuff you're talking about in this quote is not "real problems on witty." Steve is not a problem on witty, he's the reason it exists! If you had a problem on here, you could've just left instead of bashing steve, who i'm sure didn't apprectiate this quote. And, as you can tell, neither did half the people on this website.

This is a site built on and for free expression. Posting thoughts opinions is the purpose of witty. If dont like them you can ignore or block those people. Sorry but if you aren't mature enough to handle argument or debate or different opinions or bad words, you need to get off he Internet and wait a few years till you grow up.

It's not that I need to "grow up" it's that I feel like Steve is allowing r4ism since he did fav quote & put it in the "best quote" list that has an offensive term in it & that makes Steve look like he allows r4sim. This quote is to express thoughts & opinions about witty so...

You can express your thoughts and opinions. But it almost seems as if you are being argumentative just for the sake of arguing. The n word is a word that can be offensive. BUT most of the time it's used jokingly and not with the intent of being offensive and even if offense was intented, you have to learn that people are going to say what they say and no matter what you do you're not going to change their opinions. Leave if your gonna leave. I've never seen the n word on here and I think you blowing this out of proportion. If you really want to combat why don't you go to a site that really has a problem. I've never seen a quote on here and if one exist out of millions of quotes and thousands of people that's actually a pretty good.

I do understand what you're saying, but the "N" word is similar to people saying, "Oh my God" on here. I'm a practicing Catholic and I've been taught my whole life to say, "Oh my gosh" or something similar, since the Lord's name shouldn't be used in vain. Although this occurs on witty, I just block it out, since it is other people's lives and they can say what they say. I wouldn't go to Steve, for what could he do? Make people stop saying a certain combination of letters? I don't believe this is his responsibility, but I do respect your opinion.

"I still have "room" to decide whether or not the "N" word is offensive." Okay, sure, you do technically have room. However, your opinion is not taken into account because that hasn't been used against you to oppress you, you are not triggered by it, and you most likely can't relate to the negative connotations it holds.

Exactly (to the comment below me) He may not be white, and there is one of him and more than 30,000 of us (Not sure about that, I'm just judging by how many likes Witty has on Facebook). He probably doesn't see a lot of quotes and can't spend ALL his time deleting offensive ones. This is not his main job. And you may think he's rude, but in my opinion he's probably getting a bit frustrated of us because we are not using this site to post "witty" quotes. We are being mean to one another and are causing drama (And please don't even think about saying I'm stirring up drama too, because I'm not. I'm being honest and am trying not to sound mean). FINALLY, Steve can't delete all the quotes he "doesn't like". That's offensive to the author of that quote and hey, many other people probably DO like that quote about gay marriage. He may not like that quote, but he's being good by not deleting it just because he has the power. It follows the rules, so in retrospect he has to keep it up. He also may have deleted the comment your friend made because he could have already been working on blocking that word and didn't want to take up space. Or he thought it was unnecessary and offensive in how it was worded. You never know. Personally, I think you should be thankful, not resentful, that Steve is here and willing to help us.

It doesn't matter if he's not white, if he's non-black decided whether BLACK PEOPLE should be offended over the use of the n-word is not his decision. Even if he was black, he's not the monolith for all Black people.
I am well aware that he cannot spend time looking through quotes. However, when I did take the time to notify him so he wouldn't have to waste his time, he ignored me completely with no response.
No one is telling him to delete the quote. However, it shouldn't be an example of a really good quote, as it condones hate speech which is against Witty rules and uses a r4cist slur.

As I have already stated, I am very well aware that the RGQ list is not hand picked quotes but quotes that are from people he follows. However, Steve being the webmaster, he can also control certain quotes from showing up on the list WITHOUT deleting them. The fact that he keeps a quote with the n word is him practically condoning r4cism on the site, as the RGQ list is supposed to be an example of "good quotes" for the users on the site.

Systematic r4cism is not hateful remarks. That is called discrimination and bullying. Systematic r4cism is the reason why So many Wrongfully convicted POC are in jail, why a black man makes less money ON AVERAGE in the US than a white man, why women of color are so often hyper sexualised and desexualised.

I bet if it was your favorite band member making a joke about *n word* you'd laugh it off and find it innocent and say "he didn't mean it in an offensive way, he was just kidding". You're making a big deal out of nothing, and honestly, if I were Steve I'd be pretty annoyed with you people creating drama about witty and how this website should be run or how quotes should be. It's not your own website, so if you find many quotes here offensive or don't like how it's organised, tough luck. You either stay for the quotes and people you do like, or you simply leave. What you don't do is stay and make posts, that aren't even real quotes, complaining about how everyone else on this website is being rude or insensitive.

The n word is a term no one should use unless you are a member of the group, as it is yours to reclaim. Acknowledging that Steve is problematic and practically condoning r4cism isn't bad and doesn't necessarily make him Satan, however it's not good either.
To say I, a black person and other black people, are making a big deal about people who are non-black using the n-word is actually really inconsiderate. The world is full of offensive stuff. Different stuff is offensive to different people. The same thing that is offensive to someone when they are 13 won't be offensive to them when they are 18. Something things that were offensive to western society 50 years ago are no longer offensive today. If you find something offensive, go find something you *don't* find offensive instead of wasting your life complaining about it. I can't believe I actually had to comment on this quote. It's kind of like, sometimes the people on that list post vents and stuff, it's only because their quotes are directed towards that page immediately, so I think if Steve saw it he would have taken it down, if asked nicely. Considering most people saying things like this are going, "omG STEVE Y R U NOT DOIN NYTHING DO U EVEN CARE UGH STEVE IS HORIBLE I H8 HIM," I wouldn't expect him to politely take down the quote. Personally, I have not seen the quote so I wouldn't be able to say whether it is offensive or not, but if it has happened, flagging it will bring it up for review for the Witty team, and if it is found offensive, it will be taken down. It may be r4cist, but Steve doesn't owe us anything, if he doesn't want to release a statement about it, or go through the process of taking down the quote (or to be more specific, finding it first), he does not have to. Whether he should or not is not the case, because Steve most definitely not seem like a man to promote bigotry and r4cism. It may not be good, and I appreciate your civil rights movement or whatever you may refer to it as, but Steve is a grown man and dealing with things like this man not be at the top of his agenda, so attacking him over this will not prove anything other than ungratefulness.

Right, Steve doesn't owe "us anything", however he does say that "hate speech" is not welcome. I have flagged the quote, however I took the time out to notify him because of the condition that it seems as if it is condoning r4cism.
Also, me simply choosing to defend equality is not a "movement" and should not be compared to such a revolutionary movement. I feel as if this is simply fighting for all human rights.

I'm referring to all of your comments in general because I often see you labeling many things "misogynistic, ableist, bigoted, r4cist, etc." and I'm not saying it's a bad thing for you to be doing that, but sometimes I read a quote and am like, "petrichor commented, just you see," and I haven't been wrong before. Anyway, just because I'm white, does not mean I cannot spot r4cism or such, because double standards do exist, no matter what that one quote of yours says. If Steve chose to ignore the issue, he either has no concern in resolving this because honestly, I think he's just tired of all the arguing in the past week, and the fact that quotes like this ons exist. How do you think he feels Gavin to come to a quote and defending himself before a bunch of teenagers? I'm not necessarily defending him, but he has other duties and Witty is and always has been more of a side project. Also, you seem to have taken my claims personally. People, not necessarily you, have been rude, which is helping nothing at all. Circling back to your thing on equal rights, again, there's nothing wrong with it, but aside from my being convinced about your personal account's identity, you have become known to appear on such quotes more often than not, and ie begun seeing it as a movement because it is a consistent fight. I mean this all respectfully, of course.

If it isn't bad for me to point out the problematic things, then why is that even a point to bring up?
Double standards =/= oppression.
Yes, you're right, white people do need to call out other white people for being problematic, however your opinion (deciding whether or not a POC should be offended over something like a r4cist slur, or deciding whether or not r4cism exists) isn't, for lack of better words, going to overrule a POC, as they first hand, suffer from the systematic r4cism. White people in America have more privilege and most definitely reap the benefits of r4cism, even if they aren't r4cist/acknowledge their privilege, but they cannot be systematically oppressed because white people are the oppressors (in America.)
Sure, this is a side project for Steve, but when he does choose to put effort into this side project of his, he needs to understand that he is the "parent" of this site and still needs to abide by the own rules he set up.
My personal account identity has never been a secret and it's not like I have been hiding it, as it was linked on this account several times. The only reason why I choose not to share more of my own personal information on this account is because I know that some people on here would much rather choose to attack me for being my race (calling me r4cist slurs)/my looks (body-policing/shaming)/my personality (tone-policing)/et cetera rather than the actual problem. However, I do not see how my personal account identity has anything to do with what I choose to say, as no matter which I account I am on, I still defend what I believe in.
Fight =/= discussion. Pointing out the problematic things =/= fight. I do not mean to intentionally vilify people when I point out problematic things, however when they choose to not acknowledge that what they said is problematic even after I pointed out what was problematic, it does become an issue and they automatically assume as if the first thing I did was attack their freedoms when instead I just pointed out the problematic content.
~ This seems to have turned into more of an explanation of my actions, as I am firm about not having to justify this, however I feel as if this should be pointed out.

Okay, what you're doing is cool, like pointing out problematic things. This isn't because you're a POC, but it may offend other people, too. Not just whites. Sure, white is the most likely race to be r4cist, but that doesn't that mean that whites cannot be oppressed too. There are a few black girls who go around my school, calling /everyone/ the n-word, or calling white people crackers, or asians the c-word, etc. They aren't all of those races, are they? Perhaps they have become more oppressed than whites, and maybe double standards are not linked to oppression deeply, but yet, I can admit I've grown to not be offended to quotes about whites? Why are white people quotes okay, because I've seen those, but r4cist quotes are not? Shouldn't they be banned all together, then?
And I point out your other account identity, because on this account you are so different. I had spoken to you a few times a long time ago, and I have been following your fandom tumblr for the longest time, and I understand this account is to be more expressive without worrying what people will say about you because they wouldn't know anything - but it still makes me wonder, how you switch just like that.
You don't need to explain your actions to me, I understand you're trying to make the world a better place or something, but (not me personally) when you try to call something out on being offensive, you realize that sometimes you are also being offensive?

R4cism is systematic. Systematic oppression. To oppress, you need power to act on those prejudices. So, Black people and other POC cannot be systematically oppressive to White people. Those Black girls are NOT the monolith for Black people. Just because a few Black people RECLAIM the slur, does not mean that it makes it acceptable for people of other races to use it. Those black girls being prejudiced/bullies =/= r4cism.
I am Black and Asian, therefore issues that pertain to me, such as r4cism, misogynistic, quotes are going to pertain to me. If you feel that you are offended by White people quotes, then you, as a White person should tell them. I don't really understand how you expect me to stick up for myself and people while sticking up for oppressors at the same time, though.
This was never about "White people quotes", and derailing it to that fact is quite inconsiderate.
I also do not have a fandom tumblr, so I'm pretty confident that you have me mistaken for the wrong identity.
If I am being ableist/misogynistic/classist/transphobic/homophobic/etc then I encourage those who are from that marginalized group to call me out on the offensive remarks I may have made. However, I do put in effort to make sure I do not offend marginalized groups, as I too, am marginalized as well.

He's not in charge of what goes on the "really good quotes" list. I'm pretty sure it's randomized

No, Steve chooses the users to go on a list, then all of their quotes are added to the 'really good quotes' page.

I understand that, and have been aware of that. However, when I did notify him that those n-word quotes were on the list, he completely ignored me and deleted my comments, with no further response.

On one hand, you're mad at him for deleting the comment. On the other hand, you're mad at him for not deleting certain quotes.
Hmm hmm.

The comment was notifying him of r4cism on the site, as he put a r4cist quote on the really good quotes list.

You do know that the "really good quotes" list is just the people who he follows' quotes, right?

Um no, haha.
The original people were taken from a vote on facebook (I think) and then he just added as he saw good quote makers. Obviously if he thought they had quality quotes, he'd follow the person. :)

Please do not be condescending towards me. As I have made this point several times, "I understand that, and have been aware of that. However, when I did notify him that those n-word quotes were on the list, he completely ignored me and deleted my comments, with no further response." He uses the RGQ list to give a basis to a ton of users on how to write good quotes. When one of the quote displays r4cism, he is telling kids it is OKAY to write r4cist quotes. When notified, he could have simply removed that quote from showing up on the RGQ list, like how he removed this quote from showing up on the Top 24 hour list. But did he? No. Instead he deleted my comments.

*FOR EVERYONE WHO THINKS THIS ISN'T A REAL PROBLEM* it may not be as bad as someone who is depressed,cuts,etc,etc... But when I am offended it is a problem & I'm pretty sure if you were offended it would be a problem too.

I was offended when you commented on my quote about suicide saying that this is a huge problem. I don't think it's huge compared to suicide.

Steve can't just delete quotes because they started a fight. Freedom of speech? Duh. And 'the n word'? Seriously. I only ever hear those who are BLACK using that word.
