I Play To Win
* - Chapter 5 - *
We woke up, and got ready for school. Usually most parents wouldn't let you have sleepovers on school nights, but Jinelle's parents weren't hardly there. My mom drove us, and dropped us off at the front door. Jinelle saw Bentley, and ran off to talk to him. I went over to my locker, and got my stuff out. I sighed, I didn't feel like being in school. I felt arms around my waist, and heard a whisper in my ear.
"Hey beautiful." Chris's breath tickled my neck. I giggled and turned around. He walked me to class, and the next few days went the same way. Him doing something super cute, walking me to class, partnering with me for everything. We weren't official yet, I was waiting for him to ask. Finally, it was Friday. The day went as usual, but in study hall Chris was acting more nervous than usual.
"What's up, Chris? You're acting funny." I told him.
"Um, Acelynn?"
"Yeah?"
"I want to make it official."
"Make what official?"
"Us. Will you be my girlfriend?" He pulled a necklace out of his pocket, it was gorgeous. It had a heart pendant dangling from it.
"Of course, Chris." He put the necklace on, and hugged me.
"Miss Jonston and Mr McBrien, no PDA. Please take your seats." The teacher said from the back of the room, not even looking at us. We awkwardly sat down. He scribbled on a paper, and slid it to me.
There's a party this saturday at Bentley's, you up for it?
I wrote back in my girly handwriting.
Sure, sounds good.
He smiled at me, crumpled the note, and tossed it in the trash, it landed perfectly in. We walked hand in hand to my locker.
"So, what time is this party?" I asked.
"Um, like 6ish. I'll get you at 5:45."
"Sounds good."
"Alright, well I have to go to my locker. See you later, babe." He kissed me on the cheek, and walked away. I got my stuff out of my locker, and turned to see a kid I didn't know leaning against a locker next to me.
"He's not who you think he is." The kid had a beanie on, and his hair was jet black. He wore skinny jeans, his hands in his pocket.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Just be careful." He said, and walked away.
"Wait! Who are you?" I shouted, but he turned a corner and disappeared. I stood there puzzled, but got over it and waited outside for my mom to get me. She drove me home, and I did my homework. I layed on my bed, flipping through the channels on my T.V. I pulled my binder out of my backpack, and saw A + C surrounded by a heart. We had written that in class. I smiled, and put it back in my backpack. I grabbed my guitar, and sung The Best Thing by Relient K. The song made me smile, the words coming out of my mouth. I sung from the heart, I knew I didn't have a good voice, but I didn't care. I put down the guitar, and layed down to go to sleep.
