Brothers Best Friend
Chapter 4
“How was life without us?”
Liam asked me, and I laughed.
“Horrible.”
I joked, pushing him in the arm. He rubbed it lightly, laughing along with me.
“How was tour you guys?”
“The girls were amazing.”
Harry said, and I rolled my eyes. What a flirter.
“I loved visiting all the new places. They all have interesting food.”
Niall added, and again, I rolled my eyes.
“I’m just not happy to go to school again.”
Niall groaned, laying his head back on the couch. Niall, Liam, Harry, and I were the only people that we’re in school. Louis and Zayn had already graduated.
“Guys, it’s fine. You’ll be with me!”
I grinned, bashing my eyelashes at them.
“Totally.”
Liam said, winking at me. As he looked away I glanced at the ground, trying to hid my blushing.
“So, what’s the scoop at school?”
“Well, Maria and Kevin are going out.”
They all nodded. Maria and Kevin were some kids at the school, who had secretly liked each other for 4 years but never did anything about it. Maria tried to be one of my friends, but all she did was become plastic. Hard, tall, popular plastic.
“Emma Parks became the president of student council, Mr. Rexer retired, and everyone is eager to see you guys again.”
The all chuckled, nodding their heads.
“Have any real friends?”
Louis asked me, who was walking down the steps.
“No.”
I sighed, running a hand through my hair and then looking down at my French manicure, slowly pinking at it.
“Hey, there’s got to be someone that can see past the fame.”
I sighed, shaking my head.
“No, none. Everyone at our school is just plastic.”
I muttered the last part to myself, but Louis still heard me.
“Plastic?”
“Don’t ask.”
I told him, and he understood. He knew just when I didn’t want to talk about things, no matter how much anyone wanted to know.
“Hey,”
Niall said, sitting up a little and leaning towards me.
“Isn’t the spring dance coming up?”
I nodded, and he instantly perked up.
“I’m thinking of asking Cassie. Do you talk to her at all?”
Again, I shook my head.
“The only people I talk to are my friends.”
I said, putting air quotes up when I mentioned friends.
“Well, I think I will. Of course, Liam will go with Danielle, and Harry-”
“It’s probably too late to work my magic on the girls from being away for so long.”
“Har, I wouldn’t think that. The girls at school practically line up to ask me when you are coming back.”
Harry smirked, shaking his curls and brushing them out of his face.
“And why wouldn’t they?”
He joked, beaming his little grin at me.
“Do you have a date yet?”
Louis asked me, and I frowned at him.
“Do you think I would? All the guys at school hate me because I’m related to you, who all their crushes love.”
He gave me a pity look, but I just shook it off.
“I’ll be happy to take you.”
Louis suggested, and I stared back at him.
“Lou, I can’t have my own brother take me to the dance. It’ll give them even more of a reason to hate me.”
The room got quiet then, and everyone just kind of looked down and felt awkward.
“Well, maybe you could come with me and Danielle. She’s going shopping for a dress tomorrow if you want to come with us,”
Liam told me, and I bit my lip. A day out shopping with Liam and Danielle seemed fun, compared to my boring, nothing life. Danielle seemed to like me, but sometimes I felt like she was protective of Liam. Whatever, she doesn’t mean much to me anyway.
“Sure, why not?”
Liam smiled and wrapped his arm around me, pulling me into a hug. He must of hugged me a little too long because Louis cleared his throat.
“Liam.”
I looked over at Lou, and he was shooting glares at Liam. Liam took his arm off of my shoulder, lifting his hands off in defence.
“Don’t shoot, don’t shoot.”
Liam said, and I couldn’t help but giggle.
“Leave room for Jesus you guys.”
Niall said, wagging his fingers at us, which only caused me to laugh harder.
“Well, Jesus must be having a hard time trying to find room.”
Harry joked as he laughed his famous little laugh, and then covered his mouth. Now I was trying to catch my breath.
“You guys, stop! I can’t breathe!”
I whined, continuing to laugh as my face reddened from the lack of breath.
“Oh my god, Ash can’t breathe! Someone call 911!”
Niall jumped off the couch and started freaking out, which practically made me fall off the couch. See why I was friends with these boys? Because I couldn’t help it. I just love them too much to let them out of my life. Because without them, my life would be hell. Even more than it already is.
