    And Then You Die.
    *Chapter 5*
    Everything happens in slow motion.
I am handcuffed and led out of the school.
    Kids are staring, gasping, whispering.
I am loaded into the back of the police car and the red lights run as we speed down the main road.
Just like in school, the towns people are whispering.
Pointing and shouting, squinting their eyes at me as we drive by.
When we get to the police station, I am taken to a small room.
The walls are painted a boring greyish black and a single light hangs over a hard wooden chair and table, cameras in each corner of the room.
A young man, maybe in his early twentys, enters the room smugly.
He sits across from me, giving me a smirk.
"Hello Keely, I'm Mr. Frasco, but you can call me John."
He reaches his hand out to mine for a shake but I ignore him.
    "Mr. Frasco." I respond.
"Can we just get this over with so I can go back to school?"
My harsh tone dosen't shock him, he merely gives a light shrug and continues talking.
"We're just here for a little Q&A, so don't get nervous, just answer the best you can." he says, patting his hand on his knee.
I glare at him, and cross my arms, leaning back into the uncomfortable chair.
    "Fine." I shoot.
    "Very good." He answers.
"Where were you last Monday morning around hmm.. 8ish?"
"I was on my way to school." I answer without hesitation.
"But I was told that you were supposed to be doing some project with Trinity early that morning?" he quickly replies.
    "I'm not sure." I admit.
    "But I don't think so."
He stops and looks towards the wall and then looks back at me.
"I heard that there was some problems going on between you and Trinity." He says.
"A sleepover of some sort, she scared you?"
"Yeah but that's no big deal." I respond.
    "Things like that happen."
"Yes, things happen." he answers, narrowing his eyes at me.
"So, you and Trinity were best friends?" He question.
    "Were best friends?" I ask.
"Don't you mean are best friends Mr. Frasco?"
"Well I don't know. Is there anything she did that would make that statement other wise?"
His words confuse me and I furrow my brow.
    "I...I don't know." I answer.
"Were you ever jealous of her?" He asks.
    "No." I respond.
"I don't believe you." He challenges.
"Trinity got good grades. Trinity was the popular cheerleader. Trinity was fearless."
His last statement makes me cringe.
"And what were you Keely? The side kick, part of her little crew."
"No, that's not true." I answer.
    "But it is." He says.
He pulls out a journal that has a pink binding with blueish green lettering on the front.
    "That's my diary!" I yell.
He interupts me by clearing his throat.
"This was your journal entry the day before Trinity dissapeared." He informs me.
" Ugh, I am so mad. I just got home from a sleep over at Trin's house and she had to embarress me in some way as usual. She scared me in front of everyone and made me look like a baby. She is such a hypocrite. It's like she loves knowing that she's better than me. So what? I'm allowed to be jealous if I please. Sometimes I wish she would just go away!"
He stops reading and looks up at me.
    "You lied." He states.
"So what else are you lieing about?"
    Thanks for reading.

    And Then You Die.
    *Chapter 4*
    -a week later-
I nibble on my pancakes, savoring the taste.
I take a sip of orange juice and stare down at the morning paper.
I glance towards the front cover that states in bold letters.
    Girl Goes Missing.
My hand begins shaking as I flip the page over and read.
A week ago, a young girl, Trinity Curtain, went missing.
"We don't have alot of evidence yet." Officer Retcher reveals.
"But based on what little we do know, we are being led to believe that she has been murdered."
I stop reading, and close the paper, holding back tears.
    How could this be happening?
    *****
As I walk into school, the noisy halls become quiet.
Everyone is staring at me, whispering things that I can't hear.
One of the kids, Melanie, walks up to me.
"Have you heard the news yet?" She asks me, as I walk down the long corridor.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I answer, quickening my pace.
Melanie catches up to me, and continues talking, not getting the hint.
"Well, rumor has it that they found Trinity's body." She says.
I stop and close my eyes, covering my ears.
    "No." I say.
    "No, that's not true."
"And that's not all." She adds.
"People are saying that you killed her."
I continue walking, tears blinding my vision.
I find the janitor's closet and step inside, shutting the door behind me.
I slide down the wall, my head placed firmly into my hands.
"This can't be happening." I whisper, as I hug myself tighter.
I hear the door lightly crack open, and the principal walks into the spacious closet.
"Keely, what are you doing in here?" she scorns.
"I've been looking all over for you."
"Sorry." I mumble, quickly rising from the floor.
"I was...I was looking for something."
She ignores my explanation and finishes talking.
"Come with me." She speaks, and I follow behind her.
We walk to her office, and she closes the door behind her.
In the office stands two police men, uniforms and all.
The are leaned against the desk lazily, their arms crossed.
"Well, well, well, if it isin't Keely Miller." one of the cops sneer sarcastically.
    "Yes." I respond.
    "That's me."
"We need you to come with us for further questioning." the other cop chimes in.
"Why, what did I do?" I ask in disbelief.
"We have reason to believe that you had something to do with the dissapearence of Miss Trinity Curtain."
Thanks for reading! Charector pictures will be up soon.

    And Then You Die.
    *Chapter 3*
I open the door to my house, slamming it tightly behind me.
I look towards the end of the door, eyeing the lock.
Nobody here ever uses their door locks, and neither does my family, but for some reason, I don't feel safe.
I turn the lock quickly and head up the stairs, jumping when I hear my older sister, Elsa's, voice peirce my ears.
"Keely!" She yells, handing me the phone.
    "It's for you."
I take the phone and hold it to my ear.
"Hello Keely, it's Mrs. Curtain." The farmiliar voice rings through the reciever.
"Oh, hi Mrs. Curtain!" I speak casually.
    "How can I help you?"
"Well, I'm sure you've heard the Trinity didn't come to school today." She whispers quietly.
"She left for school quite a bit early this morning claiming she had to do some project with you, is that true?"
I mechanically shake my head back and forth, than stutter when I realise that she can't see me.
"Um, N-no. Not that I know of." I mumble.
"I just don't understand." She reveals to me.
"Trinity is always a good girl. She does as she is told, and never keeps anything from me. She has never kept secrets from me before, has she?"
"No, never." I lie, recalling all of Trinity's "little white lies" from the past.
"Well, I'm suspecting...hoping that she will be back soon, where ever she went." she says.
    Her words make me shudder.
"Yes, me too. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about though, Mrs. Curtain. Our town is safe."
    At least, I think so.
    *****
I wake up to a loud noise coming from outside.
It sounds like cannons going off, one, two, three times.
And then, there is dead silence.
I pull the covers off, getting out of my bed, pushing my bangs from my eyes.
I look out my window, but it's too dark to see anything.
I pull my robe tighter around me, shivering quietly, as I hobble downstairs.
Elsa is already awake, walking towards my deriction.
"Did you hear that?" she asks me, her eyes wide with fear.
"Yeah, should we wake up mom and dad?" I ask.
"Yes, wait here, I'll go get them." She commands me.
She races down the hall to our parent's bedroom, and I walk towards the door, slowly turning the knob, against my sister's orders.
I grab the flashlight that is dangling from the coat hanger and turn it on, walking quietly outside.
The old me would have ran upstairs, crying and hiding under my bed like a baby.
But ever since Trinity dissapeared, I have gotten a decent amount of courage.
I walk down the porch and lightly curse to myself when I trip over something on the ground.
I stop frozen when I feel a warm liquid swallowing my entire foot.
I turn my flashlight down, and stare in pure shock.
A dead body lays on the ground, the object that I have just tripped over.
And the warm liquid that I has stepped in is a massive puddle of dark red blood.
I try to scream, but my lips are unmoving, frozen solid.
Suddenly, I am holding a gun in my hand, and the dead body is Trinity.
"How could she kill her?" A voice calls out.
"How could you kill your best friend?"
I wake up, a layer of sweat drenching my body.
"Just a dream." I remind myself.
    More like a nightmare.

    And Then You Die.
    *Chapter 2*
I live in a small town.
The kind of town where everyone knows eachother and there are no secrets.
At least not that I know of.
Our town consists of mostly small farms and family owned buisnesses.
It's a quiet and uneventful place that's oddly peaceful.
Some might think this town would be impossible to live in, and far too boring.
    But I like it here.
    It's my home.
    *****
I walk down the sidewalk, the bright sun beaming down on me.
Just a week until school will be over, finally.
I pull my wavy brown hair into a loose pony tail and swifty glide down the road, in a rush to make it to school on time.
"Hello Keely!" Mrs. Lillan calls from her yard.
She holds a large bag and a weed cutter, probably tending to her prized vegtable garden.
She wears a large hat that blocks the sun, as small beads of sweat form on the edge of her forehead.
"I'm good Mrs. Lillan!" I call back in a friendly gesture.
"Tell Missy that I said hello!"
Missy is Mrs. Lillans daughter, about my sisters age.
She has just graduated our school and is leaving for college out in the big city soon.
"Will do!" Mrs. Lillan responds, holding her gloved hand out over her face.
I wave and continue walking down the street, passing Mr.Walker who is driving his large truck down the road at a slow pace.
Just as I am nearing the school, I pass Mr. Tucker, a strongly built man, heading into the woods.
"Hello there Mr. Tucker!" I yell.
He turns, fidgiting with his hands.
"Ahh yes, Keely, how are you?" he asks.
    "I'm fine" I call back.
    "You have a good day!"
He dosen't answer, just nods his head and continues into the woods.
    ****
I walk into school, expecting to see Trinity waiting for me at the door like she usually does.
I furrow my brow, forming a tight frown when I see she isin't there.
The day goes by quickly and as the very last bell rings, I rise from my seat in a hurry only to be informed to sit back down.
Our principal walks into our small class room, sitting down in our teacher's chair.
She clears her throat, tapping her nails against the top of the desk.
"It's come to our attention that a girl has not come to school today that was supposed to be here." She speaks informatively.
"If you don't know who that girl is, we are talking about Trinity Curtain."
She stops talking, narrowing her eyes towards me, and I sink down in my seat in fear.
Her eyes burn into me, making me feel like some sort of criminal.
"So if you know anything about this, speak up imediately." She adds.
She pauses, tapping her foot against the tiled ground as she continues to stare me down.
After what seems like hours, she sighs and rises from her position.
"That's all, you may leave." She says.
As I walk out of the classroom, the same thought keeps running through my head.
    Where is she?

    And Then You Die.
    *Chapter 1*
I sit on the edge of the bed, my eyes widening with fear.
I am at a sleepover with about 5 or 6 other girls and my best friend, Trinity, is in the middle of telling a scary story.
Her room is pitch black, except for the small flashlight that she flickers on and off, lighting up her face in a spooky way.
"And then, you walk up the stairs towards the house, and each rickety step makes a creaking noise as you get closer and closer to you worst nightmare!" She exclaims.
I chill goes down my spine as she mimics the noise of the steps "Creeek, creeek."
"And then what happens next?" A girl asks next do me.
"And then you die!" she announces, going to tackle me.
I let out a peircing scream and someone turns the light on.
I breathe in and out quickly, hoisting myself up as Trinity realeses her grip on me.
She starts to laugh, and the other girls chime in, and I breathe a sigh of relief as I try to start laughing with them.
"Gotcha Keely!" Trinity laughs, giving me a playful shove.
I laugh along, trying to blink back my tears.
    That really scared me.
But then again, It dosen't take that much to scare me anyway.
I'm not a very brave person like Trinity is.
    She is fearless.
"You okay?" One of the girls ask me, nudging my shoulder.
    "Yeah." I lie.
    "I'm fine."
    Just perfect.

    Chapter 21:
    Cam's POV:
I hobble down the soft carpet ground, Haylie by my side.
She had seen me get hit by the taxi, and she came to my aid.
If it weren't for her, I would be dead.
She is a gorgeous creature, friendly and decent.
I can tell that she likes me, if only I could like her back too.
But my heart is still missing, stuck in the soul of another dwelling.
    A younger dwelling.
I walk towards the waiting room to let Haylie go.
I clear my throat, stroking my newly formed mustache as I watch her leave the door, and in her place a younger boy walking in.
He seems timid, and is very dressed up for being in a hospital.
He has a large bag slung over his shoulder and he is talking to some girl.
    She seems...so farmilar.
People are turning to stare now as he hands her roses one by one, and she willingly takes them.
He then stands on his knee, pulling out a ring.
    Propsing in a hospital?
    Not very romantic.
She puts a hand over her mouth, tears streaming from her face.
A nurse beside me jumps up and down cheering.
I continue to stare at the girl, in a trance.
    She is flawless.
I walk closer, unable to help myself.
She sees me and stops crying, wiping away her tears quickly.
    "Cam." She says.
My heart begins to swell with joy and sink down deep at the same time.
I have finally found my other half, yet she is with some other man getting proposed to.
    "Linda." I whisper back.
    "It's really you."
I can't let her slip away this time.
I have already lost her once, I can't do it again.
    "Yes." She answers.
    "It's me."
"Why did you change your mind?" I ask, suddenly curious.
"Why did you stop loving me?"
"I don't understand what your saying." She responds, furrowing her brow.
"I waited for you, you never came for me."
The nurses and pedestrains are stopping now, listening intently to the conversation.
"You called me!" I shout, furious now.
"You told me it was over, and I practically died from the pain it caused me!"
"I did not!" She screams back.
"I waited up all night for you. I felt like a cinderella stuck in the castle waiting for her prince to come and save me. But you didn't, and I never got over it. I cried for months over you. You told me you were coming to get me Cam. You said you'd come for my 18th birthday. You never came!"
She is sobbing uncontrollably now, collapsing to the ground.
I kneel down beside her so her face is just inches from mine.
"Do you still love me." I ask.
    "Yes." she whimpers.
"Do you love me again?" she asks.
"Linda, I never stopped." I answer, brushing her cheek.
She sits up, pushing her lips to mine, and fireworks instantly explode in my head.
She smiles, staring up at me.
"Can we give this one more chance?" she pleads, gazing into my eyes.
    Let's do it.
That was the last chapter guys! I really hope you enjoyed this story and I would like to start another one as soon as possible. Maybe about someone getting bullied? Ideas and feedback would be absolutely GREAT! Thanks for reading, fave and follow if you want.

    Chapter 19:
    Stupid.
    Just plain old stupid.
I stare down at the faded carpet, trying to retain the water leaking from my soar eyes.
    What a life I have.
I hear my phone buzzing and I rummage through my purse, searching for it.
I have been sitting in the waiting room of the hospital for an hour now, trying to get my thoughts together.
"Hello?" I mumble into the phone.
There is a heavy sigh of breathing causing a sound of crackling through the reciever.
    "It's Bailey." He speaks.
I sigh, as my body shakes with a mixture of fear and anger.
"I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened to me. I will never do that again. I know you would never cheat on me. I only hope you can forgive me." He says.
I stare at my phone, thinking of what to say.
"You hurt me. I just don't know." I mutter unclearly.
"Let me make it up to you, I'll pick you up and we can go out to dinner or something?" He asks.
I bite my lip, pondering this.
"Fine." I respond, before hanging up the phone.
    ******
I see the glass doors swing open and watch Bailey walk in.
He is dressed in a suit and tie, which is unusal for him.
    He never gets dressed up.
His hair is combed to the side, a hint of gel holding its posture in place.
His scent is alost overwhelming, thick with an old spice musk.
He looks around for a moment until seeing me, and a glowing smirk forms on the edge of him pink lips.
    "Linda." He says.
The way he says my name, sends a chill up my spine.
I smile, unable to help myself.
I forget the damages he has done earliar and forgive him.
    I'm good at forgiving.
He hugs me and then reaches into a bag slung over his shoulder, revealing three roses each in a different color.
He clears his throat, smiling nervously.
"I was hoping to do this somewhere more private." He says, eyeing the curious nurses who are now turning their full attention to us.
I watch him, waiting to see what this is about.
"I'm not sure how to do this, but here we go." He breathes into my ear.
"This is a pink rose." He says, handing me the precious flower.
"This resembles when I first met you. You gave me joy, and your sweetness made me happy."
He hands me the second rose, a bright yellow color.
"This yellow rose resembles our friendship." He speaks.
"We are best friends, and I tell you every secret that I have ever had."
He hands me the very last rose, red and thornless.
"This rose resembles our love for eachother." He murmers.
He stares at me with unfathomable eyes, as he bends towards the ground.
    "Linda." He says.
My lip is quivering as he pulls out a small black boz, flipping the upper lid open.
There in the box stands a small ring with one diamond right in the center.
    It's perfect.
    "Will you..."
I run into his arms cutting him off.
"Yes! Yes I will!" I scream, tears flooding my eyes.
There are cheers coming from every inch of the room, joining in the happiness.
    What a day.

    Chapter 19:
I breathe in the sent of breakfest wafting from downstairs and I stretch and rise from the platformed bed.
I turn to see the empty unmade side of the bed that was accompanyed by Bailey last night.
I draw open the lavendar curtains, staring down at the busy streets of N.Y.C.
The noises of loud honking and hollars of passing pedestrians give me a headache.
I push my feet into heavy slippers and pull my pink robe on, heading down the circling staircase.
I walk to the kitchen to find a fresh batch of blueberry pancakes piled high in the center of the small wooden table that stands like an isolated island on the tiled floors.
I inhale the delicious scent, and walk to the refridgerator, pulling out a jug of orange juice.
Bailey walks in from outside, holding a newspaper, winking in my deriction.
"Honey, I'm home." He teases, kissing the top of my forhead.
"I see that you took the liberty of fetching the morning paper?" I ask, taking a sip of orange juice.
"Yes, would you like to take a look?" He questions, reaching for a pancake.
I slap his hand and laugh, grabbing the newspaper.
"Wash your hands before you touch those!" I yell.
    "Yes ma'am." He responds, smiling.
I purse me lips, and sit down, fidgiting with the paper.
The front cover states chilling facts in bold letters.
Person crushed by passing taxi car. Injurys so servere, helicopter swings down over the city to take the man to safety.
I lick my lips in satisfaction and read the captions below, interested in the story.
26 year old Cameron Enslan slaughtered by speeding taxi.
I stop reading, taking quick breaths.
    How could this be?
    My Cameron?
    I mean...the Cam that I know.
What is he doing in this city?
I jump from my seat, gathering my keys and coat and head for the door.
I feel a hand on my shoulder, and it twists me forward, causing a sharp pain in my shoulder.
I scream out, stopping in my tracks.
"Where are you going?" Bailey breathes into my ear.
    "Tell me now."
"My friend is hurt, I have to see him." I mumble quickly.
Bailey has never acted this way before and I am scared, but I try not to show it.
"A boy?" He asks, pulling my arm even harder.
"Stop." I beg him, trying to pull from his harsh grasp.
He flings me over and pins me to the ground, his body weight crushing me.
"Are you cheating on me?" He asks, his tone of voice overwhelmed with anger.
"No!" I plead, trying to push him off of me.
"I love you, you know I never would..."
I stop midsentence when I feel his fist come into contact with my face, a loud smacking noise following the action.
Tears swell my face and I try to move away as I cringe at the next blow.
He finally gets off of me, walking away, his face red in fury.
I pull myself together and quickly head out the door, not giving him the satisfaction of seeing me cry harder.
I had other things to worry about.
    ******
    "Excuse me miss?"
I snap my head up to see the lady behind the hospital counter is staring at me intently.
"Can I help you?" she asks.
By the look on her face, I can tell that she is worried about me.
"Where is Cameron Enslans room please?" I question
She points to a room at the end of the hallway and nods and I follow her derictions.
The door is creaked open and I poke my head inside, smiling.
My smile turns when I see another woman tending to Cam.
She has strikingly beatiful features with firey long red locks.
They remind me of Mohony's hair.
I listen to thier conversation, hoping they won't see me.
"Thank you Haylie." He mutters weakly, trying to smile.
"Just rest." she says, kissing his forhead.
She strokes his brown curls from his face, gazing into his eyes.
    I can't watch anymore.
I should have never came here in the first place

I slide my designer shades on blinking away the sunlight seeping into the car.
I purse my lips, tapping my long painted nails against the rim of the steering wheel as I drive down the busy highway.
I have just gotten my first gig as an actress in a broadway play just around the corner in New York City and I'm dropping my boyfriend of at work and then heading to my first practice.
I sigh slightly, and turn to plant my lips to Bailey's quickly before turning back towards the road.
He goes to kiss me again, and I pull away, laughing.
"I'm going to get into a car accident because of you!" I smirk.
    "No distractions!"
"My bad." He chuckles, relaxing in his seat.
"So now that we are officialy together." He adds.
"I've been looking for a house for us to move into."
My eyes once more, turn to my dashing boyfriend, gleaming with excitemet.
    "Really?" I whisper.
"Yes, really." he murmers back, pulling a small peice of paper out of his pocket.
"And I think I've found the perfect place."
He hands me the sheet of paper and I look down, reading the fine print.
"It's a pent house right off the center of the city and it has a green house at the very roof where we can tend to a garden." he speaks
"It's absolutley perfect." I reply, gazing dreamily towards the wrinkled paper.
"But far from my price range."
"Oh don't worry, I already bought it." He replys cooly, looking up to smile at me.
I stare back at him with a shocked expression, swiveling the car to a stop.
I jump on him, hugging him tightly.
This is too good to be true.
    *******
We step into the house, admiring the beauty.
The walls are made of a rare stone that climbs towards the windowed ceiling.
The spiraling staircase leads to a large room looking over the whole area.
We hull boxes full of our possesions into the house and start to unpack.
"Hey look." I say, pulling out a small baseball.
    "Is this yours?"
I hand the ball to Bailey who tosses is up into the air casually.
"Yeah, my first homerun. This lucky ball made it all the way to the very back of the feild." He says, smiling to himself in pride.
"Is this yours?" he asks, handing me a small book.
It is small and the front cover has been completely torn off.
I grab it from him and toss it into a pile of unwanted possesions.
"Some old book I probably read a long time ago. It looks ruined." I answer.
I am about to look away when I notice something strange about the book.
Some pages are folded and there is a silver bookmark lining the page.
I pick the book back up, flipping through the pages to read a line.
"It couldn't be." I gasp, as I realize what book this is.
Pride and Predudice, my favorite book.
    His favorite book.
I stand and walk towards the window, inhaling the books scent.
    It smelt like Cam's colonge.
"What are you talking about?" Bailey asks, sitting up to follow me.
"Oh." I say, remembering I'm with someone at the moment.
"This book just um..belongs to a really good friend of mine...that's all."
"Okay." He responds, a little confused.
"Should we just throw it away?"
He is about to take it but I lift it from his grasp.
"No, I think that I'd like to keep it." I answer quickly
He nods and then walks away, and I continue looking through the book.
"Strawberry wine, your favorite." hollars Bailey, walking back in with two glasses filled to the rim with the pinkish red drink.
I sigh, taking a light sip.
"Cheers to a new life." he exclaims, touching his glass to mine.
    Yes, a new life indeed.

    Chapter 17:
    Skylar's POV:
I push my golden locks behind me ears, to look at Harley.
She catches my glance and gives me a nod, straight and to the point.
Tomorrow will be Linda's 18th birthday, the day she has been dreaming about for a long time.
"Hey guys?" Linda calls from the kitchen.
Harley and I jump from the couch to the kitchen, where Linda stands uneasily.
"What if he dosen't show up?" she asks, biting her lip.
    "Who?" Harley asks casually.
    Well played Harley.
Linda narrows her eyes at Harley and then they slowly drift towards the tiled floor.
"It figures that you wouldn't remember him." She sighs.
    "Do you remember him Sklyar?"
She turns towards me, looking at me with hopeful eyes.
Harley elbows me hardly, and I shift my position, trying to seem realistic.
"Not really." I manage to say.
Her hopeful smile turns to a doutful frown and I feel like I have just crushed y best friend's dreams.
It's for her own good, I remind myself.
"Hey Harley, will you grab my phone for me, I left it upstairs." Linda asks.
Harley shrugs indifferently and walks up the stairs, and I follow behind.
We reach Linda's bedroom, and shut the door tight so no one will hear us.
"Did you find Cam's number?" I ask quickly.
"Yup." She responds, holding a peice of crumbled paper.
She reaches for Linda's phone which sits in the middle of her neatly made bed.
"You do it." She says, handing the phone to me.
I pause for a moment, and then finally reach for the phone, my hand shaking slightly.
I take the crumpled paper and dial Cam's number, and hold the phone to my ear.
"Hello?" The deep voice asks into the reciever.
I hold my breath in shock, not knowing what to say.
    "Umm, hi Cam." I answer.
    "Linda!?!?!" He responds quickly.
"Uh, Yes, that's me, Linda." I respond, trying to use Linda's sincere tone of voice.
"Oh it's so good to hear you." He says.
"I'e missed you so much, I love you."
"Well that's the thing." I speak.
"When you were gone, I've had alot of time to think, and well, It's just not going to work between us anymore."
    I cringe on his answer.
    I don't like breaking people's hearts.
"But Linny, I got a job in the area and everything, this was our plan remember?" He begs.
"Well, some plans change I guess." I speak.
"Are..are you breaking up...with..with me?" He asks, in a shocked voice.
"Yes, yes i am." I respond.
I don't want to hear anymore, so I hang up.
Harley pats me on the back reasurringly.
"We are doing the right thing." She says.
    "We are protecting Linda."

    Chapter 16:
The air is gently blowing my hair around, as I walk down the path of the beach.
My mom sits inside her car in the distance, eyeing me like a hawk.
Like I'm some sort of criminal.
Cam stands at the foot of the beach, the waves lightly caressing his tanned ankles.
I would have to tell him goodbye, tell him that I could never see him again.
I hold back my tear filled eyes as he turns to gently stoke my cheek.
We have planned this get together as a last goodbye.
"I love you." I whisper into his ear.
    "And I always will."
"This dosen't have to be the end." He begs urgently.
    "How?" I cry.
"Wait for me." He responds quickly.
"On your 18th birthday, I will be back. We will leave, we will start our life, we can be together."
His dreams, are so unrealistic but so perfect and right at the same time.
    "I'm not even 17 yet." I speak.
"You'll be turning 17 in a month." He argues.
"Wait a year. That's all I'm asking. Just a year."
    I frown, pondering this.
"A year can seem like a decade." I whine.
"True, but a year seems like a small compromise for the rest of our lives."
I smile at him, batting my chocolate brown lashes.
"You promise you'll be back?" I ask.
"A promise is a promise." He says.
    "And I don't break'em."
Sorry this is an extremely short chapter so I figured I'd just squeeze it in tonight.

    Chapter 15:
I gently pull away from his lips, breathing in air.
We lay in the trunk of his red pick up truck, parked in the back of the drive in movie theatre.
It's oddly quiet out, except for the occasional ignighted engine from a passing car.
Cam turns to face me, his blue eyes sparkling under the starry sky.
"I love you." he whispers into my ear, his hot breath trickling down my neck.
    "I know." I reply, smirking.
"And of course, I love you too."
We kiss again and he moves away this time and reaches into his bag.
He pulls out a small book, the edge of the pages yellow and torn.
There is a silver book mark lining the page, and I squint my eyes to read the cover.
"Pride and Prejudice!?" I ask excitedly, as he flips to another page.
He turns to look at me, a shocked expression on his face.
"Have you read this book before?" He asks.
    "Yes!" I respond quickly.
    "It's my all time favorite."
He chuckles, wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
    "No kidding." He smiles.
"Shall I read a little for you?"
I nod shyly, snuggling into his chest.
"The tumult of her mind, was now painfully great. She knew not how to support herself, and from actual weakness sat down and cried for half-an-hour. Her astonishment, as she reflected on what had passed, was increased by every review of it." He reads from the novel. His voice is so soft and irresistable as he continues reading and I can't help myself.
I hindge my legs around his waste, hoisting myself on top of him.
I kiss his neck, working my way towards his lips.
"I can't read with distractions." He teases, flashing his pearly whites at me.
I tug on the ends of his shirt, pulling him towards me for another kiss.
He abrubtly stops again, moving his lips to my forehead for a gentle peck.
"Do you not want to kiss me?" I ask, a little disappointed.
"Of course I want to." He responds.
"I just don't want it to turn into anything more than that."
My face turns a bright shade of red, and I turn away from his gaze.
"That's not what I had in mind." I say
    "At least not tonight"
    "I know." He says.
"You are only 16. I'm 21 remember?" He responds.
I nod, pushing strands of loose hair behind me ears.
"But we have the rest of our lives to worry about those things." He speaks, sitting up.
"Come on, lets get you home."
    ****
I walk up the porch of Skylar's three story beach house and let myself in with the key that she gave me.
The house is pitch black, except for a small light in the kitchen.
I walk to the fridge to grab a snack and stop in my tracks when I hear a noise behind me.
I turn to see my mother leaning against the wall, her teeth grinding in anger.
She has a packed bag with all of my stuff.
"Let's go." She says, tapping her foot against the tiled floor.
"You told me that I could leave, so I did." I yell back, reaching for my things.
"I was angry." my mother replys, holding the bag away from my reach.
"You have to live with me, now lets go."
    "No!" I screech, backing away.
    "I don't want to."
"Well you don't have a choice." She retorts.
"You are only 16, so what I say, goes."
"So what!? I'm 16? So what!? Why does everyone treat me like a child because of my age?" I argue back.
    "Enough." My mom responds.
"I've got your things, now let's go. And you are no longer allowed to see this boy, and you are grounded."
I follow her, a tear of defeat surfaceing from my eye.
I was walking away from a friend who needed me, a boy who had stolen my heart, and my life.
I was walking away from everything.

    Chapter 14:
I hold my breath, clutching my phone tightly.
This answer is crucial to my life, my love, my everything.
"Is this some kind of sick joke?" Skylar sneers unsympatheticlly.
I start crying now, heavy sobs filling into the muffled reciever.
    Skylar's tone of voice changes.
    "Linny, what's wrong?"
I continue crying, forcing myself to breath.
" I need to get out of here." I cry loudly.
    "Please." I beg.
    "Please just help me."
    "Okay, okay." She answers.
    "Just for a while though."
    "Yes!" I reasurred her.
"Yes, I just need to get my head wrapped around a few things."
The line goes dead, and I pack my bags and leave, not bothering to say goodbye to Mom or Mohony.
When I get to Skylar's house, she opens the door and lets me inside with a welcomeing gesture.
We go up to her room and I put my bags on the floor, practically collapsing from the impact.
"Linda." She speaks, closing the door.
    "Yes?" I ask casually.
She pauses, biting the edge of her lip.
    "I'm sorry."
I stare back at her, not sure of what to say.
I stand still for a minute, taking in everything.
"Why did you do all of that stuff to me?" I finally ask.
"It wasn't your fault." She answers.
    "I was...jealous of you."
    "Jealous?" I ask.
    "Of me?!?"
How could she possibly be jealous of me?
She is gorgeous beyond compare, and lives in a mansion as an only child.
    No siblings to bug her.
Or ruin her whole entire life before her very eyes.
"My parent's have been gone." She says.
"What?" I ask, a little confused.
"They went on vacation in the Bahamas." She whispers.
    "And they never came back."
    "Skylar!" I respond quickly.
"You need to tell somebody, you can't live here alone!"
    "Oh, I don't." She retorts.
"My parents send people to look after me."
She dosen't cry, just looks at me sadly, almost like a lost puppy dog.
I forget everything horrible that she's done to me these past years.
I just need to focus on helping her.
"They just abandoned me." She says, slowly sitting on the edge of her bed.
"They never call me, or talk to me. They don't even love me."
I walk to sit beside her, hugging her tightly.
"I love them so much." she whines into my shoulder.
" So much that it hurts."
    "I know." I say.
"I understand. That's why I had to leave. I love this boy, but my Mom won't let us be together, so I had to leave."
She stares at me now, her emerald green eyes blazing.
"Will you come back into my life?" she asks.
"Skylar. I never left in the first place."

I stretch cautiously and turn to the side.
Harley is gone, and the window is wide open letting the summer breeze blow my curtains around.
I stagger towards the window to close it, cringing at the sunlight.
My head aches and I feel a little nautious.
I turn to look at myself in the mirror and gawk at my morning bed head.
Viscious knots cover ever inch of my hair, and dried mascara stains my face.
    I look hideous.
I sigh nervously and creek open the door, tip toeing down the stairs.
I nearly fall to the ground when I see my mom waiting for me at the bottom of the steps.
She stares at me with narrow eyes burning me with guilt and panic.
    "Good Morning." I mumble quickly.
    "Excuse me."
I try to slide past her, but she rests her hand on my shoulder.
"Not so fast young lady." she commands just like any other typical mother would.
    But this time, it's different.
Unlike all the other times I have heard that farmiliar phrase, I am scared this time.
    Very scared.
"Have you been drinking?" she asks.
    "No." I lie.
    she know's I'm lieing.
"Don't you lie to me!" My mother screeches.
"I could smell it on you from the stairs!"
I can feel a tear trickling down my face and I wipe it away quickly, not wanting to give her the satisfaction of seeing me in defeat.
"And you are not to see this boy anymore." She snaps.
"I can't even believe you. Dating someone who's 5 years older? 5!? I never thought you would turn out this way."
"You don't even know him mom!" I shout back.
    "I love him!"
"You don't know what love is!" She yells back.
"Oh and you do?" I retort.
"That explains why dad left you."
Her expression changes from anger to a mixture of pain and sympothy.
"Get away from me." she says calmy, a tear falling from her eye.
    "Just get away."
I stare at her in shock.
How could she say this to me?
    To her own daughter?
    "Fine." I say.
"But you are NOT going to tell me who I can love."
"If you don't live by my rules, than don't live here at all." Mom speaks.
I don't answer her, just walk back up the stairs.
With every step, I can feel my life crumbling before me.
Just a couple of days ago, I had been at the top of the world, and now I lingered near the bottom.
I walked up to my bed and grabbed my phone, dialing her number.
"Skylar?" I asked into the reciever.
I tried to choke back the remaining tears as I continued talking.

    Chapter 12:
    It's pitch black out.
The kind of dark that could scare a person.
Harley and I are on our way back from a summer party on the beach, and I might have chugged one to many beers.
We walk back to my house, sneaking in through the window.
I spiral towards the floor, groaning softly.
"I don't feel right." I mumble to Harley who lays down next to me.
"You don't look right either." Harley responds.
"You got a coffee maker downstairs?"
I nod sheepishly and look down at my phone's clock.
    It's 2:30am.
"I'll go make you one." She insists.
    "It will help."
"Don't wake my mom or sister up." I yell loudly towards the door.
Harley turns to me, putting a finger over her mouth to signal me to shut up.
I giggle quietly, and tilt my head sideways.
    The room is spinning.
A few moments later, Harley comes back with a cup of hot coffee.
"It's strong." she tells me as I go to take a sip.
I force the hot bitterness down my throat, scrunching my nose in disgust.
"Soooo" Harley questions, trying to make conversation.
    "How's life with Cam?"
    It's good." I mutter.
    "It's really good."
"It's so romantic." She coos, staring up at the ceiling as if some movie is playing before her eyes.
    "Forbidden love."
    "No." I speak.
"More like dating a guy 5 years older than me. It's not as great as you would think."
She bites her lip, furrowing her brow.
    "I don't know." She says.
"Sounds like a fairytale to me."
I flash my eyes towards my door which is cracked open to the side.
    Shoot.
"She heard me." I whisper, suddenly getting up.
    "What?" Harley asks.
I shut the door and turn around to face her, my breathing quickening in panic.
    "Mohony heard us."
"I think you're still a little drunk." Harley laughs, pulling me towards my bed.
"You need to hit they hay."
"No!" I say, pushing her away.
"I heard a noise, and I saw a shadow. It was her, I know it."
"So what?" Harley speaks, gesturing for me to take another sip of my coffee.
"It dosen't mean she's going to tell anyone."
I sigh heavily, chugging down the remains of the disgusting drink.
"I just busted her for smoking." I say quietly.
"And I told her that she couldn't date her boyfriend anymore, or I was going to tell our mom that too."
"Ouch." Harley cringes at my words.
    "She get grounded?"
    "Oh yeah." I repsond.
    "Big time."
I sit next to Harley, chucking the mug of unfilled coffee across the room.
It hits the wall roughly, causing the glass to splinter into a million tiny peices.
Just like my heart would be if I had to end it with Cam.
    My life...is over.

    The sunset is...beautiful.
A mixture of colors that blend in with the horizon, just ceeping up above the water.
I hold Cameron's hand, snuggling into him.
We are laying on the beach, looking at the world from a different point of veiw.
    I love him.
    So much.
We are different then most people.
We are smart, and caring, and wise beyond our age.
I turn to him, gazing into his blue eyes.
"Why is it so hard to be in love?" I ask him.
"All of the hiding and secrets and hours of planning. We never get a break."
He smiles at me, tucking a strand of loose hair behind my ear.
"The course of true love never did run smooth." He answers .
    "That's from Shakespear." I laugh.
"A Midsummer Night's Dream to be exact." he responds.
    "Not my words...but true words."
I lean in closer to him, holding on to this perfect moment.
"Linda?" I hear in the distance.
    "Linda is that you?"
I turn to see Mohony running towards us.
I stumble from th ground, pushing Cam off of me harshly.
He stands behind me, brushing the sand from his body.
    "Who's that?" he asks.
"My sister." I speak in a hushed tone.
"You are 16." I tell him.
    "Tell her you are 16."
"Why can't we just tell her the tru.."
I cut him off when Mohony finally reaches us.
"Hey Mohony!" I say all to enthusiastically.
She crosses her arms, taping her barefoot against the ground.
"I didn't know you had a boyfriend." she smirks.
"Yeah, well you don't know alot about me." I answer.
"Well since we are all fessing up here, I want you to meet my boyfriend." she retorts.
She nods to the mysterious figure wading behind her.
    "That's Hunter." she says.
He walks from behind her, grabbing Mohony around the waste.
    "Mohony, you're 14." I speak.
"Aren't you a little young to be sneaking around with your boyfriend?"
"Well what are you doing?" she asks.
    "I'm 16, you're 14. Big age difference." I speak.
She narrows her eyes on me and then turns to Hunter, smiling.
His eyes are glazed over, and I can tell that he's been drinking.
He holds Mohony tighter as they kiss.
    I want to puke.
She then turns back to me and reaches into her back pocket grabbing a box of...cigarettes?
    "You smoke?" I yell.
"Yeah. So what?" She answers, lighting then end of the cigarette.
"That's not all she smokes." her boyfriend adds.
I lower my tone, and speak harshly to him.
"You can't date her anymore." I say.
    "You aren't good for her."
Her smirks and kisses her again.
"You're not the boss of me." Mohony whines.
    "You are NOT my mother."
"It dosen't mean I can't tell OUR mother." I answer.
She looks like she's about to explode.
She then turns to Hunter, a small tear forming in the corner of her eye.
"I'm sorry." she says to him, and then turns back to me.
I drag her by the arm, pulling her towards the sidewalk.
" I'll walk home myself." she sneers, pulling away from my grasp.
"Don't ever talk to me again."
She turns away, her red pony tail blowing in the wind.
"Mohony, I'm protecting you." I answer.
    "That's my job."

I flip through the pages of my latest novel, To Kill A Mocking Bird.
The inspirational words of the great Atticus Finch leave me pondering.
"There's a lot of ugly things in this world, son. I wish I could keep 'em all away from you. That's never possible."
    Boy was he right.
No matter how hard I try, I can never seem to get away from the harsh reality of this world.
I shrug away my thoughts when I see a farmiliar figure walking by.
I jump from my feet when I see it is Cam and some of his friends.
He stops when he sees me, and then looks away to continue talking to his friends.
    I miss him so much.
I felt so right when I was with him, so special.
    But who am I kidding?
It would never have worked out anyway.
I had to end it with him.
One of Cam's friends nudges him and nods in my deriction.
Cam gives me another short and unimportant glance and then looks away as he quickens his pace.
I look down on my book, and think about one important word in this case.
    society.
Was it me who cared about dating Cam, or was is society?
Did I ever think it was wrong, or did society think it was wrong?
I always follow the rules, do what I am told.
But is there a rule book that binds the rights of who my heart can belong to?
Who I can be in love with?
I have to talk to him, have to hear his voice one more time to be certain.
I jog over towards the paved side walk, stopping in front of Cam.
I rest my hand on his shoulder as if to stop him in his tracks.
He stops and looks at me with a confused expression.
I stare back with uncertainty for a few moments, and then turn towards his friends.
"Can you give us a moment alone?" I ask.
They nod and continue walking, leaving me and Cam alone on the street.
"Do you love me?" I ask suddenly, cringing on his answer.
    What if he says no?
    But, he answers without hesitation.
"I could never love anyone else. Only you."
I smile and grab his hands.
They are sturdy and strong, more aged than my youthful skin.
But, they are where mine belong.
"I don't care how old you are. I don't care how wrong it is, how crazy people think we are.
I love you, and I want to be with you for as long as I live, and that's all that matters."
I can feel my heart leaping out to his with full power, with a burning passion.
I bury my face in his shirt, as tears begin pouring out strangely.
I look up at him, wiping my tear stained face.
"We can't tell anyone." I say.
"Don't worry, it will be our little secret."

    Chapter 9:
    Shoot.
I cringe my eyes closed, and my breaths quicken in panic.
    I hate surprise partys.
I should have never trusted Harley with this "surprise" to begin with.
I mean, she dosen't know me all that well.
I snap out of my thoughts when I hear his voice.
"Lin?" he asks, hesitation in his tone.
    "What's wrong?"
I sigh and slowly open my eyes, to find that nobody is there.
    Only me and Cam.
    Yes, no party!
I turn around, looking for Harley, but frown when I realise she has left.
    "Oh no." I mumble.
    "I must have upset her."
Cam smiles, and puts his arm around me.
"She just wanted to give us some alone time." he says, leaning in for a kiss.
Our lips softly touch and then I pull away, examining the room.
There is a small table that is illuminated by two tiny candles.
The lights are dimd and their is music quietly playing in the background.
Everything is perfect, right down to the trail of rose pedals leading to the fireplace.
"Where am I?" I ask dreamily.
"Does it really matter?" he questions, grinning his pearly whites in my deriction.
I sit down and Cam walks to a small cabinet in the corner of the room, and pulls out silver platters, with bowls of spaghetti.
"This is so wonderful." I mange to respond.
"It's just like in the movies."
"I figured this would make a good birthday present" He speaks, grinning.
"Harley and I have been planning it."
I nod as he sits across from me.
His face looks so amazing, even in the stange lighting of the room.
We talk for what seems like hours.
Towards the end of our conversation, Cam seems to be getting nervous.
He fidgits with his fingers, running his hands through his hair often.
"Is there something wrong?" I finally ask, slightly annoyed.
His tans complextion turns to a shade of bright red, and he can't seem to look me in the eyes.
Something is bothering him, that's for sure.
"How old do you think I am?" He blurts out.
    That's a silly question.
"Between 16 and 17." I reply without any hesitation.
"I'm older than that." he laughs nervously.
I look at him in shock.
For some reason, I had never considered his age before.
    "18?" I ask.
"You couldn't be any older than 18."
He is really nervous now, a bead of sweat dripping from his face.
    "Older." he chokes out.
"I'm done guessing, tell me." I finally shoot, not wanting to play this game anymore.
He pauses, biting the edge of his lip.
    "I'm 21." he says finally.
I stare at him in shock.
"Tell me this is a joke." I say, not wanting to believe him.
He slowly shakes his head, and looks up at me with innocent eyes.
"I hope this dosen't change anything?" he questions.
"Dosen't change anything!?" I bark at him furiously.
    "It changes everything!"
I stare at him for a moment longer.
He looks so young for someone of that age.
    I just can't believe this.
The only good boyfriend that I've ever had, can't even be my boyfriend.

    Chapter 8:
I walk down the boulevard in solitude, admiring the quietness.
I tug on the ends of my sweater, trying to keep warm.
The snow in the air is lightly falling, and the water below is frozen solid.
I walk over to sit on the edge on the balcony's railing, my back turned to the icy waters.
I merely blink my eyes, and there she is.
Skylar stands right beside me, beaming.
She is glowing like there is a ray of sunlight surrounding her, even though the sun is no where to be seen.
I am about to smile back, when suddenly, her unimaginable glow dissapears.
Her green eyes turn to a dark shade of red.
"What did I do!?" I scream towards her furiously.
She dosen't answer, just continues to stare at me with those evil eyes.
Suddenly, with the flick of her hands, she pushes me.
I scream, expecting to fall, but nothing happens.
She continues pushing me on the shoulders, trying to make me fall.
Yell somehow, I manage to stay in place.
    My eyes blink open.
Mohony is standing above my bed just inches from me, her hand lightly tapping my shoulder.
I push my bangs away from my face, and exhale in shock.
It had only been a dream.
    Thank god.
Mohony continues to hover over me, smiling.
    Well, this is weird.
"Wake up sleepy head!" she coos at me like a baby.
"Mohony, stop being a weirdo." I tease as I sit from my bed.
Mohony abrubtly stops smiling, and furrows her brow in confusion.
She sighs and puts her hands to her face, swaying her head back and forth annoyingly.
"You've got to be kidding me." she sneers.
Now there's the Mohony I know and love.
    "What?" I retort.
She pauses and pulls out a card and wrapped present from behind her back.
"It's your birthday you idiot." she mutters, dropping the items on the edge of my bed.
I stare back at her in shock.
    I had totally forgotten.
How do I forget my own birthday?
    Especially my sixteenth birthday.
    Typical me.
Mohony marches out of my bedroom dramatically, leaving me to myself.
I grab her gifts and shove them in my closet, as I leap down the stair well.
Just as I expected, mom is cooking in the kitchen, preparing me my favorite chocolate peanut butter cup pancakes.
I inhale the aroma happily, getting ready to devour my special breakfest.
There is a soft knock on the door, and I walk over to open it happily.
Harley is standing outside, holding some balloons and a card.
"Happy Birthday!" she squeals, hugging me tightly.
"Thanks." I answer, letting her inside.
"I bet you were so excited this morning, waking up on your birthday!" she exclaims, as she grabs a pancake from the heaping stack on the kitchen counter.
"Yeah, I was." I lie, not wanting to ruin the moment.
I hear Mohony laughing sarcastically from the living room, and I grab a pancake and chuck it at her.
"You are going to have the best birthday ever!" Harley speaks in an exciting tone.
    Yeah, I hope.
    ******
"Where are we going?" I ask Harley as my mom let's us out of the car.
"You'll see." she sanswers, batting her eyelashes quickly.
She winks in my moms deriction and we walk inside.
    "Surprise!"
