I have always been awkward in my human. Some people love themselves easily. For me, it feels strange, like kissing with braces. – A.G.

    softly say
    yes to your truth
    yes to your many roses
yes to your scent that levitates
    yes to your thorns
yes to the evolution of soft souls
    softer to softest

    don’t lose who you are
in the blur of the stars.
    seeing is deceiving,
    dreaming is believing,
it’s okay not to be okay.
    sometimes it’s hard
    to follow your heart –
    tears don’t mean you’re losing,
    everybody’s bruising,
    there’s nothing wrong
    with who you are.

I don’t think you’re happier if you’re thin or beautiful or rich or married. You have to make your own happiness. My heroines do not become beautiful elegant swans, they become confident ducks and get on with life.

These seeds will always be tulips, even if at the moment you cannot tell them apart from other flowers. They will never turn into roses or sunflowers, no matter how much they might desire to. And if they try to deny their own existence, they will live life bitter and die.

    Of all the
    people I’ve hurt,
    I’ve hurt myself
    the most;
    I owe myself
    an apology.

    its loveliness. ♥ ♥ ♥

The world is increasingly designed to depress us. Happiness isn’t very good for the economy. If we were happy with what we had, why would we need more? How do you sell an anti-aging moisturizer? You make someone worry about aging. How do you get people to vote for a political party? You make them worry about immigration. How do you get them to buy insurance? By making them worry about everything. How do you get them to have plastic surgery? By highlighting their physical flaws. How do you get them to watch a TV show? By making them worry about missing out. How do you get them to buy a new smartphone? By making them feel like they are being left behind. To be calm becomes a kind of revolutionary act. To be happy with your own non-upgraded existence. To be comfortable with our messy, human selves, would not be good for business.

Breaking off pieces of yourself to fit into places will not help you belong, it will only make you bleed. Tearing yourself into half to fit in will not help you belong, it will only take your soul. The only way you will ever belong is when you feel complete without anyone reassuring you that you are. You are valid. Alone, or with company. Do not let anything convince you otherwise.
    — Nikita Gill

There are enough negative forces in this world – don’t let the pessimistic voice that lives inside you get away with that stuff, too. That voice is NOT a good roommate.

i see now that our flaws
and damages should not be ignored or desensitized but harnessed and embraced — that all of our quirks and qualities have a part to play in the greater scheme of our lives and should never be silenced or drowned out. I believe now that a thing can be abused whether it is good or bad for us or both. That moderation is key in all areas of our lives because it gives us the opportunity to be the clearest and most sincere version of ourselves. However you choose to numb yourself — whether it is alcohol, weed, or something else altogether — why don’t you take a couple of weeks off and allow yourself the chance to be vulnerably, unapologetically you, to open yourself back up to the things that frighten you and rediscover how vital they really are to the strength and depth of your soul and heart, to learn that all of your broken, bruised, and brittle bits have important value too?

I need to learn how to stop destroying myself, stop being hard on myself and be nice to myself. I need to keep telling myself that I need to keep wanting something, something nice, something warm…so I can make other people happy. I can understand other people’s pain because I can love even after all that is left of me is gone because I have that strength.

    An over-thinker, a go-with-the-flow
type, a singer, an athlete, a writer, a believer, a follower, a runner, a single mother, a daughter without a father, a girl with anxiety, a man with a broken heart, an over-emotional type, a person who bottles everything inside. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what burdens you carry—you need to stop apologizing for who you are. This is a dizzying world. There are so many wonderful things and people, but so much imperfection. There will be moments that build you up and moments that break you, love that makes you falter and love that makes your heart sing. There will be people you learn from and people you lose, pain you experience, and euphoria that makes you forget everything else. But in all of this, you will grow. You will shift, you will change, you will try to find your path, and you will create yourself, again and again as you go. This is normal. This is life. Unfortunately, as this happens, you will come across opposition. You will meet people whose personalities won’t mesh well with yours, you will meet individuals who disagree, or even those who flat-out dislike you. And you will think you have to change for them. But you don’t. Ever. You will forever be changing, but not for another person. Not for the sake of making things easier, not because you feel forced, and not because of love. Your existence on this earth is impermanent and your time is too short to let others’ opinions change the way you feel about yourself. So don’t let them. Stop apologizing for who you are and just be. Be silly, be strange, be happy, be crazy, be independent, be in love, be unafraid, be nervous, be strong, be okay with leaning on someone else. Be whatever the hell you want. Be you. It’s okay to change, to become something else, to return to your roots or run as far as you can from them. It’s okay to make mistakes, to apologize, to forgive, to let go. It’s okay to be all the things you are and be them proudly. So please, do just that.

Love yourself– accept yourself– forgive yourself– and be good to yourself, because without you the rest of us are without a source of many wonderful things.
