Trust

One of the hardest things for me to give

But not for just everyone

Just those who are male

In them 

I see one man

The man who was supposed to stay forever

But decided 

To abandon his daughter

He seemed to try 

He'd send letters

Or gifts

And build my little hopes up

Give a glimmer of excitement

To my otherwise dead and glistening eyes

With a promise

That was always broken

He'd never come

He was her greatest demon

When that little girl grew up

He was still there

He was in the eyes

Of every man or boy

She saw

She felt unworthy 

And she was cautious

Because she just knew

That every other man

Would do the same
