Chasing Woods
Epilogue
Three weeks after bringing home the win and everything calmed
down with the media and the hype of winning, I finally relaxed.
It was a tad stressful coming home after it all. Part of me
didn't want to leave the game because it was going to be
difficult to leave the moment behind. Then the media erupted
again, but now to show off that we beat the odds and won. Tonight
they were hanging the banner that had finally arrived, and that
would be it. We would be a team for one last time tonight.

Allie: you ready?
Allie must have been out front and ready to go to the banner
hanging ceremony. I slipped my state champions sweatshirt on and
headed outside.
"I'll take that as a yes."She said as I was locking
the door.
"Yup. Let's go."
"Are you okay? Like that tonight's the end of it
all?" Allie asked as we got closer to school.
"It's not like there's much I can do about it. Plus
I'm a little relieved its all going to be over. So much drama
went along with this."
"That is very true. But at least its all worked out
now."
We were just outside the school when someone suddenly swung an
arm around my shoulder. I jumped, startled for a second, but when
I saw those sweet green eyes I calmed. I couldn't believe it
took me so long to figure out Cam had feelings for me and that
the feeling was mutual. When we walked in I glanced around
looking for the team when I caught Austin's eye. Austin
didn't take me choosing Cam so well in the beginning. And
when we came back to school the week after winning, he started
dating LeeAnn which clearly was out of spite. But it only lasted
a few days and then I sat down and talked to him. We got
everything out and now he was finally coming around and I had a
feeling we were going to be friends, eventually. We went and
joined the team who were currently standing under where the
banner would hang.
"I can't believes it's over." Cam whispered
quietly but I knew everyone heard him.
"I know. It seems just like yesterday we worried about even
having a team." Fitz said.
Everyone fell into silence their own silent reminiscing about the
past four years. (Well in Austin's case one). This team
was truly incredible, I loved every single one of these boys.
They made me a stronger person and a better ball player. The
rooms attention was called to where we were standing. My dad and
Coach Larson were on ladders, one end of the banner in each other
their hands.
SMACK!
Everyone looked up and the now hanging banner.
St.Johns
Braves
Home of the 2013 State
Champions.
Now that the banner hung it truly was over. In seven weeks we
would leave all of this behind to move on to summer basketball
for our future high schools. In a sense grade school was over and
it was time to move on.
"One last time." One of the boys shouted. Seven
hands went into the air with pride.
"Braves!"
feedback? well thats it! New story ideas will be up
soon because I can't choose!
