"But Mom!--"
"No butts, Nat! You have had such an attitude with me lately
and, Honey,I am trying. You have no idea how lucky you
are--"
I was half way up the steps of my new apparment, 2,000 miles away
from my old home, school, and friends,"You call this
'lucky'? I had to move a billion miles
away from my friends! What about Joni! I'll never see her
again! And now, because of your stupid psycho kid helping job, we
had to move? Its not fair!"
I slammed my bedroom door so hard the floor shook then flopped
limply onto my bed and sighed. I heard my mom coming upstairs,
"You know, Nat, if you ever thought of coming to work with
me to see what these children have been through, maybe you'd
open your eyes. Good night, I love you."
I said nothing. After awhile I heard her leave. I turned over and
stared at the ceiling, "Open my eyes, humph. Get a life
mom."
