Part two
After school I walked
around the park with Carla for about an hour until Kevin texted
me and told me that the party was ready for her. I drove her to
her house and once we walked in the door everyone yelled
surprise. She had tears in her eyes and she walked around to
thank everybody for coming.
I walked over to Kevin, going onto my tippy toes to kiss his
lips. "Hi beautiful. This was a great idea for
Carla."
I giggled. "I know. I knew she would love it."
The whole party lasted a while. Everyone was enjoying
themselves and then Carla stopped the music.
"I just wanted everyone to know this. You all know that
Kelsey is my best friend, and for that I want to give her
this." She opened her hand and dropped the necklace her
grandmother gave her when she was born into it.
"Carls, I can't take this. It means so much to
you."
"Please Kels. Take it. You're my best
friend."
I smiled and hugged her, thanking her for everything but
telling her I had to leave because of school tomorrow. I walked
over to Kevin and kissed him goodbye and walked back to my
house.
Once I was in my room I finished all of my homework and sat up
in bed reading my book. It was almost midnight when I put the
book down and finally closed my eyes.
At 4 in the morning my phone started ringing and the name on
the screen said Kev.
"Kev, babe. It's 4 in the morning. What's
wrong?"
"Kelsey." He chocked out. I knew he had been crying
and still was.
"Kevin, What's wrong? What happened?"
"Kelsey. Carla hung herself."
I dropped the phone out of my hand and pulled a sweatshirt over
my head. I sprinted so fast out of my house and ran all the way
to Carla's. Tears streamed down my face so fast.
I couldn't believe it. Carla can't be dead. She just
can't be.
