Chapter 1
13 months earlier

"PEYTON, YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS! LUCAS ASKED ME OUT!!!"
That was what my best friend woke up to Saturday morning. She was used to it, though. I called her every Saturday morning.
"YOUR KIDDING! ALEAH, I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!! Um. . . how come I didn't here about this sooner?"
"Come over, and you'll find out."
Peyton was at my doorstep within minutes.

Peyton. I would take a bullet for this girl. I love her to the moon and back. Ironically, we used to hate each other until we were in 3rd grade. That's right. 10 years we have been besties and we're still going strong as seniors. For the last 5 years, we have been obsessing over Lucas. That's what best friends do though, right? We all obsess over our best friends crushes, ship names, etc.  It wasn't until my mother passed away of cancer that Peyton and I became friends. Despite our extreme differences, Peyton stayed by my side every single day to make sure I was okay. I can NEVER thank her enough for that.

At around 9, Peyton and I went to IHOP, our Saturday morning tradition. I couldn't wait to tell her all about my magical night. After getting our traditional plate of greasy bacon, I couldn't hold back.
"Peyton, it was perfect last night. You should have been there!"
"Well, tell me more! What did he say, what did he do, when did he do it?"
"Well, it was really late, around 11. We were watching tv when Lucas suddenly shut it off. Shocked, I asked why he did that. Then Lucas said he had been wanting to ask me something. He leaned in to give me a kiss, and at exactly 11:11, Lucas asked me to be bis girlfriend!"
"OMG, i'M FANGIRLING!!!! That's what you have been wishing for for the the last 5 years!"
"Pey, it couldn't have been-" then my phone suddenly buzzed in my back pocket. "It's Lucas. He asked if I wanted to go to dinner tonight!"
"well, what are you waiting for? Tell him yes! And we gotta go. We've got some shopping to do!"

After we finished our bacon, we drove to the mall, which was less than 5 minutes away. Peyton and I spent hours at the mall checking out millions of stores for the perfect outfit. As usual, I ended up getting my outfit at my favorite store, Forever 21. It was a black pencil skirt and a floral top.

After hours of shopping, Peyton and I went back to my place. It was 5,and Lucas was picking me up at 6, so I had an hour to get ready. After I put on my outfit, Peyton put my long, light brown hair into loose curls and applied little makeup to my face. I stood up, looked in the mirror, and was shocked at th reflection. I honestly couldn't not believe how pretty I looked.
"Aleah, you look amazing.I am so pround of. Now, you better have fun tonight, but not too much fun."
"Thanks, darling. You better be expecting a phone call around 5:30 am tomorrow morning about tonight. . ."
"Ugh! Well, I gotta go. Have fun!"
Peyton left with 20 minutes to spare.

I looked outside my window waitingfor Lucas. It was around 6:25, and Lucas still wasn't here. I took out my phone to call and check on him. No response. I was getting upset now. I angrily got into my car and drove to the restaurant.
Tears began flowing down my face when I saw Lucas talking to another girl, and holding flowers.
