He pulled me up on my feet and hugged me, we stayed that way for
quite a while. I pulled away slightly, I looked at the small flag
gracefully flowing in the wind. The red, the white, and the blue
all gleamed in the sunlight together underneath the old willow
tree. I glanced up at Will’s face, I could see where the
tears had been rolling down his face. I propped myself up onto the
toes of my boots to kiss his cheek. He brushed my auburn bangs out
of my face, and kissed me. A smile grew on my face, I had never
felt so many emotions all at once before. Mourning the deaths of my
family, with tears coming down my face. Smiling, knowing the boy of
my dreams was here with me, supporting me, loving me.
He cleared his throat, still trying to gather himself. “We
have somewhere we need to go.” Gorgeous white teeth glimmered
in the sun as he looked at me. Still not ready to speak yet, I gave
him a swift nod.
I rolled my window down and cranked up the old radio. There were a
pair of aviators on the dash, I put them on and started to sing
along with the radio, ignoring the static. After a few minutes, a
deep voice was in harmony with the radio, I looked over at Will,
sliding the sunglasses down to the tip of my nose, so he could see
my blue eyes looking at him. His cheeks started to get pink. I
undid my seat belt and slid over to him, and kissed his perfect
lips. My hand reached up to his face, the truck started to move
faster.
I pulled back and looked out the windshield. It was too late. In a
matter of seconds we were going to hit the stone wall that was only
inches away from us. I fumbled with my seat belt, trying to get it
to buckle.
