Broken.

I opened the 'attachment' and saw this gorgeous picture
of Avi. He was laying in his bed, it looked like, on his back and
he was smiling like a maniac. He put on the flash and in the
photo, his eyes were turquose.
I started to type the reply when I heard my door open swiftly,
without warning. I was stunned for a second. For the past 5
minutes I've been living in a world that only included Avi
and me. That would be a nice world. A world without bad thoughts
and bruises and scars, and every day I would see those striking
multicolored eyes.
--------
A flash of red light.
A quick honking sound.
A scream of a child.
And worst of all, I know that this child is Aaron.
--------
"Get up, anorexic wh.re. I need you out of the house. Go to
school."
"Yes, mother."
I sit up. I'm on the floor. My back hurts. I don't
remember what happened last night. All I remember is that Avi
sent me a picture of him last night, then mom came in and I
remember blacking out. My mom exits, and I examine my disgusting,
bruised body.
It scares me, of course, that I'm at her will, but what am I
supposed to do? I can't move out. She provides me food and a
place to sleep. Besides, I'm only 17, where would I live?
Nobody would be willing to take in a broken teenager like me.
But just because you have a kid doesn't make you a
parent.
I push this thought out of my mind and continue getting ready for
school. Thinking about dreams won't make them true. I slip on
a loose, grey sweater, and some tight, bright red pants. Then I
wear my new, navy Toms that Avi suggested I buy last night.
His favorite.
I brush my teeth and comb my seafoam colored hair in silence.
Then, pocketing my phone, I climb down the stairs and walk down
the street to my bus stop.
-------
"What's up with your arms?" Halle asked. I liked
Halle. She was nice. But she had a habit of getting in other
people's bussiness. I remember in sixth grade, she bought me
a cake at lunch which I refused to eat. Then she made me talk to
my counsler, saying I had anorexia. I got mad at her after the
cheesey session with the counsler and she said she was just
trying to help.
Psh. As if. If she really wanted to help, then she would just
ignore me. It's easier when I'm invisible.
I pushed up my sleeves quickly.
"Haha, nothing. I got.. scratched... by a... wild cat."
I said, putting on my best fake smile. She nodded her
sympathy.
"Maybe you should get it checked out. It might have rabies
or something." I mentally rolled my eyes and then assured
her I was fine.
It was second hour. History. Possibly the most boring class in
the history of classes (see what I did there? eh?) and it
doesn't help that Mr. Burk teaches it. He has this, I
don't know, droning voice that sounds almost monotone. And
then, what's worse, he always has yogurt, and he spits when
he talks, so that the front row gets tiny spits of yogurt. Oh,
those poor souls. I'm glad I'm seated in the middle.
Halle's directly in front of me.
Mr. Burk said that he's putting on a video. Good. I take out
my phone under my desk and check my messages. Avi texted me.

It's 9:15, now. I guess I never felt it because I always
leave my phone on silent.
